i am not trying to debate that they are evil in descript, but evil in feel. and that is just me. these things "feel" evil to me. and i am sure that i get that "feeling" because that type of effect is primarily used by evil creatures. If you want to play the good pali that strengthens herself though the felling of evil, then go ahead. I am simply trying to relate that, to me, pooling the life essence of another creature on yourself "feels" evil. anyone can bring justification for all sorts of things that "feel" evil and how they are not if used this way or that. just because it feels evil to me does not mean it is or should be. just how i feel. an opinion.

But you don't take any life essence, mechanically at least. That's Steve's argument here... where is the infusion of health (or stamina if you RP the HP like that) coming from? Kinetic energy returned?

Healing Sting - Not evil.
Necromancy
Level: Druid 2,
Components: V, S, M,
Casting Time: 1 standard action
Range: Touch
Target: You and one living creature
Duration: Instantaneous
Saving Throw: None
Spell Resistance: Yes

Your palms tingle as you smash the dead wasps between your hands. The tingling intensifies as you strike the opposing warrior, pulling his vitality into yourself.

Focusing the power of negative energy, you deal 1d12 points of damage +1 per caster level (maximum 1d12+10) to a living creature and gain an equal amount of hit points if you make a successful melee touch attack. A healing sting cannot give you more hit points than your full normal total. Excess hit points are lost.

Material Component: Five dried wasp bodies.
Vampiric Touch - Not evil
Necromancy
Level: Telflammar Shadowlord 2, Sorcerer 3, Wizard 3, Duskblade 3, Blighter 3, Sha'ir 3, Death Master 3, Dread Necromancer 3, Envy 4, Gluttony 4,
Components: V, S,
Casting Time: 1 standard action
Range: Touch
Target: Living creature touched
Duration: Instantaneous/1 hour; see text
Saving Throw: None
Spell Resistance: Yes

You must succeed on a melee touch attack.
Your touch deals 1d6 points of damage per two caster levels (maximum 10d6).
You gain temporary hit points equal to the damage you deal.
However, you can't gain more than the subject's current hit
points +10, which is enough to kill the subject.
The temporary hit points disappear 1 hour later.
If neither of those are evil, then I don't see any reason why the Vampiric Regeneration trait should be.

If we could establish that you still get the regen from smacking on stone skin or harmlessly off a demon or barbarians hide then we can conclude that said regen is not dependant on: blood, tears, pain, suffering.

If you only regen from causing hit point damage then we can assume it's life draining and likely along the theme of necromancy.

Since it works during any possible emotional state of both parties involved Int the attack we can also conclude it's not feeding off of hatred or fear or what not.

If it just a regen created from the reaction of striking a being then there is nothing directly linking it to evil. "Vamp regen doesn't kill people, people kill people."

It would still be a moral hazard in using it with evil intent, more so than a typical weapons . I.e. You can kill just to heal yourself.

I would say in this case that it would be nuetral weapon. ...a good person may still objeCT to its use, such as my pally.

I think Vampiric Regen reacts to you bashing chests. Does that count? :P

Your PC does not receive HP from bashing objects with a VR weapon. That in itself could be a simple scripting oversight on the part of Bugsidian! Lol.

But they probably didn't try to overthink it, like me! 0:)

aaron22 wrote:im not really feeling much of this. vampiric weapon should be as evil as vampiric touch. its not kinetic because you cannot just hit a log or swing hard through air. it steals whatever the life force is and transfers into beneficial energy that the user takes no matter what.

that is why i brought up occums razor. to me it feels evil. i dont play a pali, but i would consider not using a vamp weapon if i did.
Since vampiric touch doesn't have the evil descriptor. . .not evil at all, then?
