That is okay adobongmanok.
Its nobodies fault that it did not work out.
I should not speak for the other guys but I am guessing we have all given up on this plot.

I think we should have focused it either on the surface or the underdark. Try to keep it more localized. A way to create more opportunities for us to run into each other and actually mingle.

A lot of us were quite happy with the Surface/UD RP we were creating and really had a A LOT OF FUN doing so until we discovered that other players had problems with it and that it seemed to be frowned on by the admin. The fun is now gone, but we have zero reason to believe what we were doing was wrong.

Also I noticed our play styles kind of clashed a bit. Some of us wanted the instant gratification of in game RP and conflict. And others were interested in taking their time and creating a story. Both are right, neither are wrong.

Lastly the coin idea was a simple and great plot device but I think if it is to work in the future it needs to be flushed out a bit more. Because so much of the creative aspects of this game are constantly being rule lawyer'd constantly to the N'th degree, I just felt self conscious about the meaning to the Coins themselves.

I'll chime in:

We ended up too spread out. Tekill's idea of either being all UD or Surface is spot on. Or maybe even better to be Upperdark based!!

I did not give up as much as have other commitments that need the majority of my game time and attention, with 7+ Players involved (see Kraak Helzak revival). Not to say any one group or Storyline is more important, but with the difficulties experienced as pointed out, it is just easier to go with the easier flow.

As with many initiatives, they live and die by the investment by the members, and I am just as much to fault by my Coin Bearer not becoming my main Toon.

Developing the Coin more is a great idea, but we could only do so much as Players. The Coin was an abstract device, because it had to be—we as Players couldn't make it a "real thing," as we are not DMs.

Nonetheless, there were some good stories being published here! Perhaps these Characters will continue on in their own way, just not as our loosely linked group!

if you do not mind i will continue my story. i like the character. i like the build concept that has not come into it's own yet. still thin and vulnerable.

the problems i ran into were not just one, but many. i started in the UD and am not as familiar with the UD as i am surface. so i had very few player/player connections there or much knowledge of how to gain these connections. So i was winging it for the most part.

the population of the UD is very low. 90% of the time i was there i was all alone. not much to do when you are all alone. grind. explore. the 10% that i was not alone i would try to establish myself in RP. that is if i could find them and they were up for RP like this. basically "hey how are you." RP. not always what players want when they log. usually they seem to have their own RP goals at the time. basically you need the other player to be idling. that is harder when there is such a low pop.

another issue i ran into was in my RP. I played a character that utilizes disguise to stay out of trouble. I would throw out clues that i was a disguised character, but it is a weird mechanic that works too well and not well enough in the wrong ways at the same time. to some i was just another new guy in the UD that never last and others i am somebody that is awkward to RP with. the who, whys and whats are not intriguing enough to overcome the awkwardness. i am also level 4-8 non-drow, so offer very little to the epics when the intrigue is not there. mostly a me problem. i should get better.

level limits. this made it so i could only play a few hours a month. the RP ticks are pretty significant at the early levels. an hour long convo could get me half a level or more. also knowing that i needed $$ to get gear because i wasnt twinking made me want to go get some. this would get me xp pretty quick too. RP would also lead me to some adventuring as well at low levels when i found someone around my * power. so i was left to 25+ days a month of not being able to log because i had come too close to the level limit. this also had an effect to any RP i had established when i was able to. made me look like another fair-weather UD RPer that the UDers got burned bad with during the weekly UD DM events of last year at best. and a temporary tryer-outer at worst.

All-in-all, i just tried to get through this as i knew many of these issues could be resolved when i was able to log more and had more to offer. i dont get the "race to 30" feeling when i play. if you have played with me before, you would know i RP all the way up. level 4, level 15, level 21 and level 29 have there own brand of RP and i do not mind playing each one. but i did get the sense of wait till im xlevel to actually be able to play. that isnt good.

I am sorry I never joined in this RP. I feel badly as I had the best intentions. I even had a character ready and a story half written but every time I sat down to actually log in, I got this sinking feeling and decided to put it off for another week. I must of done that about a dozen times. The truth is I am just burned out and not ready to return to BG yet, maybe ever. I will still post the story eventually and maybe even play the character one day. It is sad to hear that the plot never really took shape, as it was a great idea. For my part I was clearly no help :'(

As for this...
A lot of us were quite happy with the Surface/UD RP we were creating and really had a A LOT OF FUN doing so until we discovered that other players had problems with it and that it seemed to be frowned on by the admin. The fun is now gone, but we have zero reason to believe what we were doing was wrong.
Someone is always going to have a problem with your RP. With out doubt no matter what character you make or how you RP someone will find fault with something. My advise ignore the haters and don't let them ruin your fun.
