quicken is nice, but you get scars and those are better. i like maximize and empower best personally. i can even live without extend or quicken on a BM. my top two are maximize for damage spells then empower for spells like mantle (important) that are better empowered than maximized or greater versions.

Better how? Can you cast from a scar and then cast another spell in the same round?
Much like wands, it may cast faster than quicken which makes it better in some cases, but when you want to pop two spells consecutively there is no substitute for quicken. In my previous example you have quicken grease which is great against low reflex save enemies, but even on save at least slows them down followed by acid cloud which further slows enemies on a failed fortitude save. Could honestly just drop quickened grease followed by 'regular grease', point is to lock the enemies to a spot so you can drop cloud spells and AoEs. 2 spells in one round is better than one scar or one spell.

Since we are talking about Quickened Spells, I would like to remind that it is possible to get up to Automatic Quicken Spell IV in stock NWN2. This means that your level 0-4 spells are all quickened by default.
Additionally, Divine Champion bonus feats can be used to grab Automatic Quicken Spell in stock NWN2.
Thus, maybe something like a Wizard 16/Blood Magus 10/Divine Champion 4 might be worthy of consideration. You leave the Wizard 10 to be taken in early epics, while you also leave Wizard 15 and Divine Champion 4 to be taken at character level 27-30. This is one of the only ways to get all four Automatic Quicken Spell feats.
I have tried out different builds that get more feats during those four last levels, but the stock NWN2 does not allow you to get more Automatic Quicken Spell feats.
Edit:
Wizard 6/Divine Champion 6/Arcane Scholar 8/Blood Magus 10 could also be considered. It will have caster level of 29 with both Blood Components active.

So, take all 4 Divine Champion levels in epics? Doesn't that violate 3-B4-20?

Earliest you can take auto quicken is 27. If you take W10 and DC4 between 27-30 in addition to regular feats at 27 and 29 you can get auto quicken 4.

Yes, but what I'm saying is that DC from 27-30, that violates the server rule of 3 levels of all classes by level 20. 3-B4-20.
Sorry. Should not have tried to be cute with the abbreviation.

wiz 10 gets a free feat.. just that level after 26. DC4 gets a free feat. take that one after 26. the other 9 levels of wizard taken before that. the other 3 levels of DC are taken before 20 to meet the 3b20 rule.

Nah, I read my own post, and I wasn't clear enough!
Should have written it something like this:
You leave the 10th Wizard level to be taken in early epics, while you also leave the 15th Wizard level and the 4th Divine Champion level to be taken at character levels 27-30. This is one of the only ways to get all four Automatic Quicken Spell feats.
