Re: Keen for Bows?
To clarify, I didn't say I was removing anything. Don't misread my intent. I've thought for a long time they should be removed and simply never removed them, and don't plan to suddenly do it now just because someone asked a question. I was just explaining my personal stance on items like that and making a suggestion for a way the player could see what they wanted implemented.

I'm not relying on those sharping stones for weapons. Why? Oh its simple. This effect is considered as ward of caster 5 of lvl. And there is loads of mobs at endgame which got a habits of spaming dispells. So i'm using those stones at low level toons. But my high level characters - just picking a feat and have no any problems with dispells.
Active characters:
Graham - traveler from Frozenfar.
Shello Tide - Shaman from Rashemen.
Darreth - Hoar's paladin.

Re: Keen for Bows?
I have to say I rather agree with you. There's something about scoring a critical hit with ranged weapons that's just so satisfying when it lands as a natural roll. Kind of like a precision aim-type thing.I don't think adding it to an item is a great idea, as I similarly dislike the whetstones and the lodestones and would actually like to see them removed since they essentially amount to "a free feat for everyone" and the properties from them can't be dispelled.
Intuitively, I'm okay with whetstones. I personally hate having to add buffs to anything. So if someone wants to take the time to use a whetstone to hone their slashing weapon, that somehow seems okay. Not so sure about lodestones being used in the same way.
Nice thread to get the discussion going. But I'd be okay with leaving things as is.
Or add more Epic Widowmaker Bows to the loot table! Heh, about as bloody likely as GRR releasing the next GoT book in the next year.
