I'm not sure what influence real world linguistics should have on this discussion but a counterexample to the commonalities between Scandinavian languages would be the Mandarin dialects that can make it difficult for a Shanghai native to do business in Beijing, despite the fact that these are nominally the same language.Deathgrowl wrote: ↑Wed Jun 05, 2019 11:51 am And why should different dialects not be the same language? My language is one of the more phonetically varied languages in the world, even having variations in the vocabular between all the dialects. But I can understand all of those dialects just fine. In fact, as a Norwegian, I can understand spoken and written Danish and Swedish of all their dialects as well.
The point is, even if drow is a dialect, the language remains elven. Elves and drow should understand one-another even if their accents and parts of their vocabulary has differences.
Putting that aside I really can't imagine why we would take away content from the UD
