I thought this OP was about "balance" and mechanics??

First thing that anyone needs to realize is that there are no guaranteed rewards, here. You can contribute hundreds of dollars to the Server upkeep, you can be Head DM, you can be on QC, you can offer Content to the Server, you can help with Forum management, you can be a good middleman putting the right people in contact at the right time so that shit gets done...but if you do it with expectations to get some magic special gold star placed on your forehead, then good luck with the lasting and irrepressible disappointment you'll suffer.

That said, you can have your ideology AND still work to make a difference, for the Server, for everyone else, even for yourself! But seriously...you're not going to get everything you want. If you're prepared for that, then you can last with BGTSCC. Otherwise, you are far, far better off just walking away, and getting on with Real Life. Trust me, Real LIfe is a very good thing! 0:)

wait is it 100% RCR now? >.>

But going back on topic! I totally see where the OP is coming from. Last night I saw a player blits through the Kobold ruins near the farmlands, I greeted them IC and they charged past me, looted the chest and carried on :D This isn't WOW >.>

I haven't been on the server as long as the OP but I can see the love and passion is still there. Remember everyone here is entitled to their point of view. If you don't like how the balance is done there is nothing stopping you from applying to the team and putting your ideas in the hat!

Nope, not yet. When the updates go live, we were told there is going to be.

Steve, I’ve respected you as one of the more intelligent older players and defended your thoughts on more than a few occasions. My only expectations were to have fun within the server rules, which have now changed too much for me.

Chambordini, I’ve played with you and had fun. If you remembered me at all you wouldn’t have made derogatory assumptions you did. It’s okay though, I hide my player-name a lot on my alts.

RCR percentage has nothing to do with this decision. Frankly, I find offering an RCR an insult as if you really believed in the changes, you wouldn’t offer a 100% RCR.

Each nerf over the years was a straw on the camel’s back. Join QC to have a voice and read explanations? I’ve tried several times. More attention was paid to an ice god worshipping shapeshifting exploiter who got himself banned.

I get that I’m unimportant. I have one vote, stay or leave. Staying is too depressing now. I’ve tried Neverwinter and Elder Scrolls Online and they just aren’t fun either. I’ll go give DDO Forgotten Realms or maybe NWN:EE a shot instead.

VE, I know first hand how mechanics changes can "ruin" my build, and seem like a fun killer, because my expectation will never happen (with said changes coming online).

I just want to say it one more time, in your case: mechanics are fun to invest in, they DO often form a basis or foundation from which we create a Character to RP, but...I think it pays off to look beyond the numbers and think of the possibilities with the game that are still afforded you.

If you do feel that you've tried and invested in BGTSCC but in the end you feel an empty result, well, that sucks. It's a pity, for sure. It's never a nice thing when a Player with invested RP gets turned off from BGTSCC.

Best of luck out there!

Can somebody please let those of us not in the main clique know what changes are coming? I know we are a small minority but still.... so much flame war and I haven't even been let in on the secret of why.

I don't know who in the main clique are even around anymore, so I think its safe to say you are in the silent majority.

Not really surprised with the Divine Power nerfs though. Staff has for years tried to make that skill work without turning a FS Level 30 High BAB machine.

Im sorry that staying isn't a viable option for you. You are important, Every player is important and voicing a concern carries as much weight as anybody.

You will be missed and wish you the best wherever you go.

I disagree with Ariella. BG is an rp-lite server at best. There's no required background, profile, no enforced rp or penalties for using ooc chat, you can even have mule characters in IC areas, you are not required to type complete sentences in RP speech, and so on.

It's completely valid to be upset over having to repeatedly RCR your character due to changes over the years. Justifying someone's departure by RP shaming them seems so cruel.

Though, not claiming to leave as an ultimatum, Ariella begged for a mechanical change for an "rp only" build anyways, so it's a bit hypocritical.

BG is far more roleplay and trending that way then it has been sense it’s start. Roleplay is the reason to play BG over the tons of other Dungeons and Dragons games, BioWare games, Bethesda games, blizzard games, Projekt and so forth.

You do not need to require complete sentences, and making it so does not make an rp server. People do not even talk in full sentences. No server that has been anti muling has stood the test of time in NWN2 and its terrible anti player to enforce no muling.

Pentlaties for using // (( )) or so forth to convey out of character is more arcane then the games engine. No server has survived with anti OOC rules and further do not make a good rp server. Who has had “zero” table talk at a paper and pen session?

Point is while I understand what you are saying. Nothing you listed is rules of any good roleplay server. In truth only the most aweful servers have ever had such strict rules and are now in the dust bin.

It would be nice to have required more roleplay things but how often does a background come up as long as you are playing to character? I can go into mad detail about the ideas of background to character influence and can shred the argument either way between styles.

What I do not understand is the complaints about rcr. You don’t want to do it? Don’t do it. I have read all the comments. All the concerns. Just don’t do it. Throw your protest flag up and do not rcr.

Can we start rcr now please and leave it a permanent feature :)
