However, you really do not need a dm for all the aspects of his stories left. You just need a story teller and discuss and balance between yourselves. You are the community and it is your game.

I can imagine that it isn't easy being a DM for the UD with it's smaller playerbase and different times that regular players log in to play. Some are European, some are American and there are a few from other places on the planet.

Having made my two UD chars mentioned below in the last year or so, if me logging in with either of them to RP or to be in a DM event, or if just logging in game in the UD and being present helps with keeping things in the UD alive and going, I'll be glad to be there : )

I would sign this myself if I was playing.

The team has definitely taken this on board, but unfortunately we don't have someone with the right combination of lore knowledge and time to step into Vanquish's shoes and focus intensively in the Underdark. Speaking for myself, I have a very full plate on the surface and I'm already well behind (as numerous valid grumblers can attest).

However! All is not lost. We've put our head together and those of us who DO have UD lore are going to try and inject some life by collaboration. Please keep submitting your player requests and initiating plots playerside (we very much welcome those!), and we'll endeavour to react as well as push things from our side too.

Perhaps this thread could be used to give an indication of what you guys are most looking for in DM plots for the UD. What sort of flavour!

I'd just add that we'll probably be recruiting for DMs again in the not too distant future -- so maybe those of you who are lore savvy and passionate about the Underdark might consider throwing your hat into the ring then as well?

I mean, if you ever wanted to play a mind flayer or to recreate a deadly rothé tunnel stampede ( that's definitely a thing in my head, I don't care what the lore says!), the best way to do that is DMing!

I wanted strongly to play an underdark character, but the lack of DM dissuaded me to try.

I really would like that we have a passionnant/evil/aggressive/free time student as underdark DM. ^^

My first jokey response is: ANY PLOT!!!

But in seriousness, anything from small “fetch and retrieve X” offers from NPCs to “struggle of Power” House/guild wars/NPC feuds to choose sides with stuff.

I know how important it is to be as Lore based responsible in the UD, but it is still absolutely possible to just drop stampedes or treasure hunts or whatever.

That said, the truth seems apparent that only a very minor population on BGTSCC actually enjoys the UD setting, and rarer, would want to DM for it. But even though that population is sooooo small compared to Surface interest, one UD DM would get immediately overloaded, because of the current carried deficit. IMHO, the UD really needs a squad of 2-3 new DMs to come in at once, and work in tandem to deliver quality RP BUT MOST IMPORTANTLY be able to do it relaxed, spread the “workload,” and prevent burn out within the first month out the gate.
