I don't think we need any more of a power creep or an endless cycle of progression though the idea itself isn't half bad maybe for another game, but not here.
This right here, progression on an RP server should primarily be your characters story not some mmo style mechanics

Agreed.

30's my vote, too. If people are bored at 30 and you're finding the RP unfulfilling as well, it might be time to think about if your character is stagnant and you might benefit from making another.

Instead of allowing players to grind for this progression it would be cool if they were granted through DM's as rewards relevant to their events.

Explore shoonite ruins? Gain +1 Lore: History to reflect new knowledge gained

Slay an ancient dragon? Gain +1 HP in battle hardiness

Quality RP in Duchal Court? Gain +1 diplomacy

I actually like the idea of tying a small boost, a capstone, into a lock from RCRing. That seems like a wise move to me.

I like this more as it has nothing to do with grinding but can this even be scripted?

I've never seen anything where points are given outside of a level-up or via items/widgits (NWN1).

DMs currently can apply effects to us as part of their events, maybe even grant items if appropriate - but I dont know that they can just +1 your stats and it becomes permanent. Could be wrong though, would be cool if I was.

This is a super cool idea.

The way it can work is:
Generate an item in the toolset to bring ingame. Item can be set to apply stats while sitting in the inventory.
DMs can edit the item ingame to apply bonuses when applicable.

So as long as the item sits in the inventory, it will apply the bonuses.

Easily abused, hard to monitor, and entirely too subjective.. relying on play times and play styles.

Hm I am not expert on how it works but given that they'd be weightless plot items reserved for DMs to bestow it does not seem like something easily abused unless I have overlooked something about how it would apply. Potentially there's a problem somewhere that is not public knowledge that could lead to this sure.

If I had to guess, it could be the way the server un-equips and re-equips items at logout/in be an issue? Leading to stacking stats?

As to hard to monitor - I can only assume again the issue would be in making sure the items are working and not resulting in stacking effects through the PC doing certain actions.

Subjective on play times and styles though, yes admittedly - those in zones with more DM attention, or in larger groups potentially, or whoever is on the metaplot vs those not would benefit more than others and in a more substantive way than say just xp/gp rewards.

Same difficulty to monitor and risk of abuse as standard DM granted items

Fair enough to both you and Plane - I just don't feel any wiser for this and have to assume its not being clearly explained because it does not want to be encouraged.

Removing skills and feats from the proposal takes those balancing threats off of the table. And there are some other considerations in maintaining game balance. Built in is slower leveling at 30 and the experience losses from character deaths could slow progression. This would also give deaths more impact to pinnacle level players as they would again be an experience price to pay.

Would you consider a 1 hit-point gain per Epic veteran level? In this case even with 900,000 more experience or 30 veteran levels the character would only gain 30 hit points. This would players to enjoy some additional seasoning on the pinnacle level characters. And they can always opt to retire characters if they so desire.

The continued Epic Character development is RP.

But to answer your proposals directly, there really is no need for any of it. The PW is already too easy. If you are looking for a mechanical motivation to keep playing a character, just join the gear race.

No worries. If the community has no interest in this then the proposal will die in its entirety without adaptations or changes.

I'll throw another option into the mix so folks aren't simply grinding for permanent bonuses. Perhaps a temporary bonus like 60 seconds of Heroism as the characters is "Inspired" to win the day, further the roleplay or succeed in whatever they happen to be doing. Besides getting that level ding is every now and then is fun :)
