and while you could get a higher dex, what build are you gonna do it on that it isnt a waste of feats?

and trackless step is a druid only feat, no way you are planning a 36 dex druid build :?

and just because curse song gives a penalty, thats not the same as you getting a bonus, you are still not hitting 115, their detection will just be lower by however much

Few things to unpack here.

Not sure what your point is about Hin bonus. It still counts towards your stealth bonus. So what it's situational; needing to have 115 stealth is situational as well and you are most likely nabbing that bonus when you need it most.

Whoever said that we were making a dex-based druid? All you need is 3 levels of druid.
Anyway, you can make a druid Cavestalker, Shadow dancer, build that maxes dex and takes crossbow master and picks up another class to help with feats and/or more damage.

As far as curse song, aye, it reduces the enemies detection skills so that you can HIPS in all situations, including places were you wouldn't normally. That was the objective, right? 😁

True. When I thought I was able to get to 115, I was thinking about Warlock before realizing it counts as part of the 50 item/buff cap.

For the more general discussion, it is possible to stealth against the hardest content, just something you can only do if dedicated to it.

Thanks for the conversation.

You can stealth against the Balor in the greypeaks if you can get hide to mid 90s with just gear and innate bonuses as he spams a lot of Mords.

Same with the black dragon in the ziggurat and Verona.

Not sure about the other dragons but most will spot you no matter your score.

The weird thing is my hide is 99 and my ms is mid 90s and he still saw me

Anyways, I have not enough damage to kill him alone
Odd. I soloed the Balor with Jyn like 6 months ago or so just to do it. Was a long fight. But I could definitely hide from him. I don’t think it’s been buffed since but I don’t play on the surface so, anything is possible.

The UD pit fiend in the other hand, even maxed out and using a summon to disk the Mords could spit me. Not all the time. I suspect his spit is in the 80s so he needs a hood roll, but you can’t hide from him for too long. He’s also doable if you burn a lot of scrolls and heal pots but the reward it not worth the material cost.
