Yeah, this is true that Northlander Hewing should not work with unarmed attacks. The icon itself has a big hewing axe on it. But since you can two-hand medium sized weapons, the feat was not restricted to just large weapons, and then you got the small races and what they consider as their 'large and medium' weapons, and at that point... Is it really so hard to imagine someone using a dagger, and stabbing someone else in a hewing motion?EasternCheesE wrote: ↑Sat Dec 11, 2021 8:15 amNorthlander hewing is not supposed to work unarmed at all per design, that's what i know. But it does work, which is an oversight.
But, it's been working for unarmed for so long it is no longer an issue, but a feature to me. Something people see as default behaviour.
And then... Well, since it at one point maximized the unarmed damage dice, 3d10 or something, the feat Became a must have feat for pretty much every single Monk build that there was. People RCR-ed their Monk builds to get it. So a lot of people were using it. Then the feat was changed, and it should still work very well for the 'hewing' punches of a strength based Monk.
