Hello!
As you consider yourself a new player, consider that a first PC as mage is likely the most difficult PC to start out with, on this Server, unless you have resources to mule over.
Consider perhaps leveling up a Fighter or Monk until 10, then RCRing into your Mage character, gaining both some “weight” in both PC power and Player knowledge.

In order for a character to legally play on the server, they have to meet the 3 by 20 rule. It's about 3/4 way down the page under Mechanics.
You have to have all your classes to at least level 3 before you hit level 20 to be considered a legal character to play on the server. There are custom scripts and DMs who help enforce this rule.

oh is that so imbalanced? i mean i know my stuff like buffing up or use invisibility + summons etch eventho i plan to specialize evocation...
one thing i was wondering, since you get to choose with the 2 feats prohibited and restricted spell classes, do you still need to be a specialist wizard at lvl 1 to qualify for rwt?

Steve does have a point.
Playing a mage can be a bit unforgiving in the early levels with no gear or funding.
Playing a Red Wizard is ... more challenging.
If wizard is akin to walking across the floor on your hands... then Red Wizard is walking on your hands across a floor covered in grease and on fire.

I am not tracking what you are trying to say. Would you be willing to clarify, please?
I don't think I insinuated that giving donations gets you anything. Heck the only thing it used to give was a forum title, but I don't seem to have mine anymore.
I was talking about transferring funds and items from one of your characters to another one of your character to make life easier as the item level restrictions were dropped years ago.
So starting a wizard with a +3 weapon and +13 ac (25 ac total) with +3armor, deflection, dodge, natural and +1 from extra Dex item puts you inter a way easier position than walking around with a +0 to hit and 12 ac total. Plus a nice +1 regeneration cloak to help....
Because muling is not wrong here.
Also starting with a combat profession until level 10 and RCR (let's you restart a new character with that XP) you get no xp loss so long as it is level 10 or below.
Again, running around with 6 hp is tough. That's all for are getting at.

It’s just how it goes.
Many Players start in the Northern Farmlands, or if grouped up, in the Baldur’s Gate Graveyard. You then move onto the Bandit Cave off the N. Farmlands, and the caves/tombs of the Graveyard.
One then can move south along the Tradeway, to the Hilltop Ruins (with Kobolds). Each level gets harder as one descends.
No matter what your PCs path, it’s just always fundamentally easier AND more fun, to progress in a Party.
One’s PC also dies less!!
