The druid sighs, seeing yet another note. After a few moments it becomes apparent to any watching that it is not the note but the manner of its display that is disconcerting. He removes the note and wedges it under some ivy that is climbing the trunk. He then, with painstaking care, as if a doctor removing an arrow from his patient, gently removes the arrow from the tree. The antlered man takes a bit of rubbery pitch from a pouch, warms and rolls it in his fingers before filling the hole left by the arrow. He sighs deeply, speaking soothingly to the tree. Almost to himself he mutters...

"I thought we had an understanding but perhaps we need another chat..."

*noticing the work done to repair the tree she would carefully fold another note and place it between two branches in plain sight in order to avoid any damage to the tree*
And I am ready to give you that answer as soon as you will feel comfortable to talk without hiding behind anonymous notes. But are you ready to listen?

In all cases you know where to find me.

In faith,

Members of House Divine were witnessed near the Friendly Armed Inn measuring the foot size of a polymorphed metallic dragon. The peculiar scene would draw the attention of curious on-lookers including a lantern wielding Lunatic.

Following the desecration of Sir "Billy" Williams memorial two nights past, a lithe and slender female donned in blue and silver robes, is seen tending to the tomb with the utmost care and maintaining a nightly vigil, bathing the site in brilliant moonlight and invoking the Moonmaiden to avail her in this task.

The priestess holding a peculiar lantern can be observed to commune with her goddess and uttering prayers to sanctify the memorial anew, consecrating the area and summonining the moonlight to banish the encroaching darkness and those of wicked hearts that would prey upon the peaceful dead. A hooded figure shifting in and out of the shadows occasionally emerges to keep the Selûnite company, softly spoken words are exchanged before the pair makes their way south at dawn, concluding the vigil as Selûne's nightly voyage comes to an end.

Watchers over The Grave

It seems that Bentley Mirrorshade, owner of the Friendly Arm Inn, has been informed of the recent desecrating act over the tomb of Sir Billy.

People talk of his saddened and perhaps angered reaction over yet another vile act against the memory of an innocent boy.

All that can be noticed for now are guards taking shifts on the side of the walls that watches over the grave, any questionable act against the memorial will hardly go unnoticed for the time being.

A dwarvish skald

A lute-playing, axe-wielding, ale-loving rowdy dwarf is seen around the Friendly Arm Inn. Yet, instead of usual skull cracking and orc raiding, he performs touching ballads to everyone willing (and unwilling) to listen with the one called "Why no lassie will polish me axe" being everyone's favourite. The song tells an inspiring story of comradeship, of true loyalty among battle brothers and of a heart yearning for a lost friend's warm embrace. The song seems to be dedicated to a brave and witty warrior named Raujax who surely knew how to swing an axe. Travellers gather by the fire to listen to the ballads and even give the wandering dwarvish skald small sums of money for his impressive performance. Grateful for the warm welcome, he promises to return with new uplifting songs and poems inspired by the many bloody battles he's witnessed and survived.

From the accounts of eyewitnesses and stories circulating around the Inn, written down by a humble unnamed traveller.

A dwarvish skald (part II)

Netanya, Matron of House Divine and local Fashionista, would reluctantly allow a crass talking dwarf to regale her with a serenade. It was a decision she would quickly regret - having to suffer through the subtle phallic references embedded in the song’s lyrics. So offended she would request that her associate, Sirion, also present and seemingly relishing the moment, to teleport her away in the middle of the serenade, to which he acquiesced.

A male half elf, covered in dried blood on his armor would been seen entering the tavern and pays for a room and serval bottles of ale.

Spending a night there in his moments drifting to and from, mumbling to himself incoherently about things. Distracted from the world around him as he would stare into the distance.

As the night goes on, a feint sound of glass would be heard from one of the rooms behind the door.

If anyone was privy enough to have entered after the half elf left the next morning? There would be glass on a mirror shattered with some blood from the knuckles left behind. And some coin to pay for any damages as compensation.

like night and day, he would have a sudden shift in his mood returning to normal after a nights rest and move on from the area heading south.

A parchment is posted in several places for easy reading
Hello Everyone

Thank you for taking the time to read this. I am putting ink to parchment to address a few issues I have heard of lately and want to put to rest. These issues are brought to me by my staff and members of the Bladestone Foundation and Warrior's Rest on multiple occasions of late but never has anyone simply come to me to ask for clarification directly as the Headmaster.

1) The Bladestone Foundation is NOT part of, a subsidiary of, owned by, ruled by, controlled by, or influenced by the Whitewood Vanguard.

Yes, a member of the Vanguard currently owns part of the shares of the Bladestone Foundation and Warrior's Rest and the Vanguard members are often there.
They are there as paying patrons as is a lot of people. We see traffic ((NPC, DM vetted)) from multiple places and people such as the Merchant League and the local farmers and villages as well as Beregost. However, that does not make the Foundation part of, owned by, ruled by, or controlled by those individuals or groups. This is the same silliness that has been rotating through for years in regards to the Foundation for whatever reason. Last year we were supposedly owned or controlled by the Blackroses because some of them stayed in the inn. Before that, because we didn't immediately throw them out, it was the Black Abby or the Zhentarim. Before that, we were supposed to be an extension of Candlekeep and an expanding militant arm of the Library. Prior to that we were a Ducal Military Outpost there to impose Baldurian rule upon the surrounding land.

None of this has been true, clearly, as they are all rather mutually exclusive. Neither is this nonsense true. The Bladestone is controlled by exactly one thing:
The Bladestone.

If another group wishes to pay to use our facilities as are publicly advertised, that is there prerogative. It does not make us "owned" by them simply because another faction visits regularly or has shared membership. That would be like saying because members of the Radiant Heart and Darkhold have had many non-violent conversations and co-habitations of the campfire on the road by Baldur's Gate, they are clearly one in the same. Further, how common is it for people to be members of more than one organization? This does not put one organization under the thumb of the other simply because someone participates in both. The Radiant Heart and Doron Amar have like members in leadership positions. Does this mean the Heart controls Doron Amar or visa versa? Of course not. Neither is this the case here.

2) We are not a militia or a mercenary company. We are a school and an inn and a trade post.

Do we have guards? Yes. We live and exist quite a ((ICly anyways, not map wise)) ways away from anywhere in a dangerous part of the Coast. Do we have patrols in the area? Yes. Part of our goal since establishment has been betterment of local community. To that end we have had several outreaches to local farms and towns such as Blueglade and South Pine ((npc towns, DM vetted and evented)). Our patrols through "no man's land" are to discourage bandit activity and make the area safer for travel for people coming to or from the area. Recently, some of our guards are taking part in helping guard caravans of refugees from the war in the North's hotter combat areas to further south away from the fighting. Are they in our "sphere of influence"? Not typically, but they are innocent people who are caught in a dangerous situation, and our people helping a community at large an in need. In the same way we also brought food into Baldur's Gate during the last year's winter famine, and the city is clearly not in our sphere of influence either.

3) We are not an exclusive club.

We welcome pretty much anyone outside of a few exclusions. All that is required or requested is follow the few very simple rules when in the property, which are clearly posted. All are welcome to come, train, enjoy a drink, whatever per the services listed at the school and inn.

4) We ARE a school, inn, and trade post.

The Foundation in the last few years has worked hard to become a community center for the "no man's land" area it is based on. We have partnered some with the Rocky Creek for a fully staffed trade station for the locals and any travelling merchant. We offer short term and long term classes in combat, combat theory, weaponry, and are working on adding some magics to that list as well. We have a fully staffed inn with couches, a hearth, plenty of seating, and a bardic stage. We have a variety of rooms for rent for long and short term, as well as other facilities that can be rented for events and meetings such as the arena and conference meeting room. We have an expansive menu of food and drink and very few rules.

I hope this puts to rest the majority of questions and rumors about what the Bladestone Foundation and the Warrior's Rest are and are not.

If you have any questions about these sorts of things, bring them to me, either in person or via letter dropped off at the Foundation ((PM)). Please stop accusing my people of being something they are not or telling them the Foundation is "clearly" doing something it isn't.

-Derik Ranloss, Headmaster, Bladestone Foundation
OOC: Honestly, yes, please if you have any ic or ooc questions about the BSF, please ping me on discord or send me a PM. This sort of thing has been going on and off for like 2 years now. I know some of it is IC driven and that's fine, but some of it isn't, and I'll be happy to clear it up either way.

Just a short distance down the road from the Friendly Arm Inn, within the Silver Rose keep, a hooded knight-priestess worked furiously in the infirmary to sort through and gather supplies as she deemed necessary. Without daring to wait for the roiling cataclysm to cease, Gemma and Layne rallied a small cadre of knights along with packhorses and a wagon to rove out from the keep in search of those trapped, wounded, or dead.

They patrolled the Tradeway until long after the veritable armageddon had calmed, offering aid and succor to anyone they encountered that was in need. They pulled people from rubble, tended to what injuries they could, offered food and tents to those without shelter, and gathered the dead for funerary rites. Their small band traveled as far south as Candlekeep and as far north as Baldur's Gate over the following days, putting themselves at the disposal of others as they could.

Well-practiced in the mundane healing arts specifically due to the fickleness of magic, Gemma made good use of a wagon's worth of medical supplies. Splints, salves, poultices, bandages, and thread a-plenty were exhausted, replenished, and then exhausted again. What precious little magic she had to call upon was carefully rationed in triage, used to try and save those beyond the reach of mortal means.

As people in the region started to recover and organize, it became expedient to focus resources and available hands into designated areas, and so Gemma led the keep's infirmary staff in establishing a series of triage and supply tents in the grounds in front of the Silver Rose keep, kept watch over by the same knights who guard the gates, allowing efforts to be concentrated and coordinated while providing logistical support for mobile aid stations.

Passing Through the Region

The cool summer morning is met with the sounds of chirping birds, the aroma of blooming monarda, and the ghastly smell of hanging corpses just past the roads of the Friendly Arm Inn. Those who venture futher in the woods may find dismembered hands with their fingers still tied from their visit to the inn. The guards from the night before respond to any questions about the recent hangings with a familiar story. A grouped of well armed men and woman stood outside the inn with a covered caravan. They seemed to wait for people to leave the inn, but they didnt attack or follow them. When a man was kicked out for attempting to cast a spell, one of the armored militia was seen following them. The group was quick to answer any questions as they weren't there to cause trouble. The proclaimed those of Mystra and the other profane gods of magic have been sentenced to their mercy. Several of the guards saw the band of mercenaries leave, they seemed to pay close attention to anyone who had their fingers bound as a precaution to entry.

Rumors of a Red Wizard found within the Woods of Sharp Teeth just beyond the Friendly Arms Inn were punctuated by speculation. Some say the paladin Alexander Marshall discovered the grisly scene amongst two companions of the Bladestone foundation.

Other rumors suggest that the body was cut from the tree and paid escort by The City Watch's Sean Asen were the result of the discovery.

No matter which rumors one might hear, whispers of conspiracy were sure to follow - particularly whether or not it was truly safe to be a magi on the Trade Way.

A notice Posted:
In light of the recent attacks on magic users, let it be known that the Bladestone Foundation will offer a safe haven for magic users on the Tradeway that are uneasy in their travels. Their rights to person and safety shall be respected as long as they obey the few rules and guidelines of the Foundation and Warrior's Rest.

A dirty, battered redhead stumbles out of the Sharpteeth and into the Friendly Arm. The girl seems thoroughly exhausted, not noticing anyone or anything as she seeks out Bentley, hands him a sack of coins, and disappears upstairs.

Upon questioning the staff or some of the regular customers, the more inquisitive of the Arm's current patrons would easily learn that the redhead goes by the name "Virin", and had been suffering from crippling insomnia before abruptly vanishing towards the beginning of the preceding winter. How - or why - she has returned now of all times, none of them can explain... but if her antics so far are any indication, she's every bit as restless as they say she used to be...
