We are required to almost max the skill in order to be able to pick an epic feat. So in order for my cleric to be able to cast epic mass heal, I need to know pretty much everything there is to know about all spells. I can understand this requirement for arcane casters I suppose, as they have to research and invent the spell. But a cleric is basically just praying for the epic heal.
Why does my cleric have a spellcraft skill of 25 (other than to have epic mass heal) when his other skills that he will actually be using are around 15-20.
Its not the end of the world - I guess you could say the cleric must research the epic heal prayer, and also, with the passive bonus to spellcraft to ones saves I will not gripe too much about this. But one feat and 25-30 skill points is still a heavy investment.
Because epic spells are explicitly epic and represent the pinnacle of spellcasting knowledge. It's knowledge so great that you've learned how to manipulate raw magic to create new spells of a power level that seems to defy Mystra's ban on spells above 9th level. Epic spells are the spells of Netheril, the spells of elven High Mages. They are extremely hard to create, and just as hard to cast. Indeed, in pnp, these spells can have Spellcraft development/casting requirements of 70+.

Are there even any worthy clerical spells, that do not mimic some of lower ones, useful ones?
Doe example epic gate sounds epic, but then everyone around you just tells it is a shitty spell not wort the cost

Anyone that tells you epic gate is useless is an idiot.
And all of the epic spells are available for cleric.

This description is great and explains the high prereqs. The issue is that the epic spells do not feel epic in game. At best there are on the same level with regular spells.
