My two cents:
More gold and less items when you out looting.
Wand and potions market will be better. (Bhor is addicted to them

)
More gold to buy items and less items to sell cheaply to vendors.
Best regards

You’re absolutely right, Ged.
And Hakken, I’ve been saying the same thing for some time now!
I’m glad to read many more than I are aware of the problem.

In a post-capitalist society where supply vastly outstrips demand you have to give the car companies bail outs and use subliminal advertising to trick people into buying new cars every year. It's the only way you're going to keep your jobs.

Just spent about 2 hours running through a few places on one of my level 30 characters. I didn't do any individual tally, but rather a combined tally at the end.
With two full inventory pages of items, out of which maybe 2/3 were magical the final tally was ~28,000 gold.
This tally includes gold from boss/champion drops, and is after selling every single item (none were worth keeping).
Additionally there were 14 Troll Hides to sell, which netted ~1,700 gold.
Aside from two boss chests all chests had 17 to 23 gold in them. The two mentioned had ~600 and ~300 respectively.
Only one of the boss chest had any loot at all, with all the rest having only gold.
Items were solely gained from skeletons/barrels/crates/lootbags.
The areas I went to were (with
CR from the wiki):
- Fields of the Dead (CR 14)
- Winding Waters (CR 15)
- Troll Claws, Elder Ogre Stronghold (CR 15)
- Troll Claws, Ogre Cave (CR 16)
- Troll Claws (CR 18)
- Troll Claws, Troll Cave (CR 20)
Of the above the Elder Ogre Stronghold was the one that felt the least rewarding. Not only is it a big dead end, it also has very few chests in it (2 regular, 1 boss, 1 crate). There are two gold piles at the end, but they consistently only grant 11 to 20 gold each.
I'd say the gold earned is as expected for spending two hours. (~28,000)
Although I'd like to add that the only reason it didn't feel like a waste of time was sheer bulk of items. Not actually rewards from chests.
I realize that the above areas are all quite low for a level 30 character, which obviously plays a factor in the loot. That being said, the Troll Cave chests were just as bad as the Elder Ogre Stronghold chests, despite the area being 5 CR higher.
The two decent chests mentioned above were the Elder Ogre Stronghold boss chest (600 gold + loot), and the Ogre Cave boss chest (300 gold).
When I find the time I'll test some CR appropriate areas.

I also tested a few areas... let's just say that my loot luck continues to be circling the toilet, for the most part
Going between the yellow lines, the left side is Nashkel mines, middle is Frost Giant keep, right side is cloud peaks lizard caves.
(This was found on a level 30)
After selling what I could carry, I was up 19,000gp.

Remember the changes only affect chests, and nothing else, it's a bit hard to know which ones were from chests and which ones were from bosses or crates !

Look at the top of each container, they're labeled

All of those were locked containers except the bones and crate(in lizard caves) and the remains from bosses.
(like I said, my loot luck = nearly 0)

Remember, no one yet has defined what “great items” should be expected from the chests in the latest rebalance revision.
Should we expect to be finding Items equal to what is sold at Epic NPC merchants? I assume not. Thus, and also I assume, it won’t become public knowledge what the appropriate-great items template is, and it will be nearly impossible to compare what is found with what SHOULD be found, since there is no should in the first place!

Can they be adjusted for bosses and crates too, to be less trash?

From my perspective, I am still going to low CR areas to do quests, and it feels the same the only difference is that now it feels more of a waste of time because chests on the area just give nothing.
And yes many times I run into lowbies, which is sad, because these quests are still sending high level players to low CR areas.

Please NO
If anything - give us more RIG or unique items - but no more "epic" vendor items.
If that 'once in a year epic drop' happens - and it will be an item that is from a shop - that would be so awful.

I think what Winterborne meant was adjusting boss and crate drops to follow the updated chest drops. Oftentimes boss drops is just a pile of garbage, and the only reason to loot them is to get keys for their chests.

That is indeed what I meant. Not sure why anyone would take me saying "improve the drops" to mean "put vendor items on them".

Okay, in the interest of transparency:
The treasure table for non-lootgen items is broken up into six different "categories", with the higher categories yielding better items. Higher CR chests give a higher chance of picking better categories. What qualifies as a better item depends very much on the category of item being generated. These are very, very long tables and are very tedious to edit. In the rebalance, we made it much more likely (like 8x or something like that) that players would get items from the best category when looting epic/late epic dungeons. We also made every other chest generally pull from higher categories than they had been. We did not revise the categories themselves, however, because there are 5700+ lines of this file; that means that even if you roll the highest category, you might get a copper ring for example. Judging from what we've been seeing of loot gain, players have been getting
a lot more of the exceptionally good items than before.

If it is a waste of your time, don't do it! The fact that it's not worth your time to go to a low-level dungeon even for a quest seems to say that this loot rebalance has helped to fix the issue of quests not being balanced for all levels too; hopefully high-level PCs won't keep doing low-level quests.
