The event known as the Harbour Festival was said to be many things; all that could be agreed upon was that it was a strange affair. Only near a tenday later could a solid story be collated from the widely varying rumours of the Umberleant charity drive, though even this remains contentious and hotly debated.

On the twenty-second day of Chess, 1356 DR, Wavemistress Whitecap held a congregation in the dock district in front of the House of the B- Sea Queen. Orphans of war, refugee children and street kids of the Gate were called to the gathering, seated and fed as much fish stew as they wished. The Priestess Whitecap, a hooded, burly figure of uncannily inhuman proportion with the accent of a Waterdhavian pauper, delivered an Umberleant sermon to the gathered crowd of kids, Dock-dwellers, citizens and adventurers alike. She bore a warning of impending destruction, from both forces of nature and mortal conflict following the turmoil of the Devil War as the Queen's own mists rose from the sea to shroud her; some rumours claim she spoke also of regrowth, of rebuilding, and of mortal kindness, though some also claim this to be a cynical gambit to win the affection of the Docks and the destitute young. While a partnered fundraising party was held on the Siren Song - a well-appointed entertainment barge on the harbour - few were lured away from the strange ceremony and the ensuing shower of donations to the orphans' fund handled by the Church of Umberlee.

Only a few things are undisputed: That stew was given to the young poor, all fed to bursting; that a Wavemistress pledged to aid the orphans, whose honesty remains to be seen; and that ominous sermons of Umberlee were given to raucous cheers from the destitute children of Baldur's Gate, a strange new addition to the Sea Queen's faithful.

Sarisay made her way to the headquarters of the Flaming Fist. There she made a report of happening at the Friendly Arms. They scoffed at her report stating that it was out of their jurisdiction.

The woman left in a huff after defending her motives; The poisoning had been intended to affect masses without targets, and would not be the last. The people of the Friendly Arm were alerted now, so the pair that attempted the poisoning (and got away) were likely to try their ploy elsewhere.

She gave a final warning, "The necromancer, Batibat, has been seen entreating an alchemist for poisons. Ignore this at your own peril."

She left with a deep, feral growl, and again wondered why she always went so far out of her way to do right by people that made her feel foolish. She went into the forests to collect more detoxifying mushrooms as she had expended hers on the victims of the attack.

Rumor spreads that for the first time in a long time, the Church of Tempus will send a representative to attend the Duchal Court, a task that many of the Faith have found less than savory given their pension to eschew anything that does not directly pertain to the thrill of battle. Many could possibly begin to wonder, why now? Where was their presence in the Court in the Devil War? And what does this mean for current affairs if the priests of the Lord of Battle are suddenly taking an interest?

A blond young man can be seen walking around Baldur's Gate, carrying a number of missives.
Those who might follow his movement can see him entering:

The Thayan Enclave
Roaming around the Docks
Entering the Helm & Cloak inn
Visiting the Sword Coast Commercial Exchange
Having a word with Brennan of Rocky Creek
Walking around the Wide
Visiting the Darius Estate
Talking to random people, and leaving little of the city unvisited.

The amount of missives he carries lessen along the way.

Luke can easily be spotted after the Ducal High Court, dressed in the latest Waterdhavian fashion: a white fur-covered robe and hat. The piece he claims is named "Myconid" and Oth often refers to him as "Lord Mushroom". After court, Luke heads out from his office with four large scrolls. He leaves one in the Lewd Lyre and another at the Merchant Stall outside the Estate. He then meanders over to the Elfsong Tavern and the Helm and Cloak, leaving in each one of the scrolls on an empty table.

An Address by Lord Darius

To close this announcement, I feel it appropriate to address ongoing events. The war with Dragonspear is over yet a few days ago the Zhentarim ceremonially murdered a Hellriderfor entertainment in front of drow and representatives from Baldur's Gate and Mirabar.

As per Article Seven of "Treaty to Open Relations and Trade Between the City of Baldur's Gate and the Zhentarim", the Zhentarim are barred from the House Darius Estate including the Lewd Lyre Tavern. While the current treaty permits the Zhentarim to enter Baldur's Gate for trade, I would encourage the reader to Look to Elturel.

I'll close with a quote from the High Rider Lord Dhelt:

"The Time for Peace with the Zhentarim is Never!"

8th of Tarsakh, 1356 DR

During the day a red-headed man could be seen wheeled through the streets of the city. Pushing the wheelchair was a female red-headed tiefling , with a female moon elf walking at their side. Passersbys would later have noticed the trio at the eastern garden gazebo in the Palace District, seeming to enjoy a pleasant time together. Even though the red-headed man did little talking.

Rumors of a brawl in the streets of the Palace District would later begin to spread. With eye-witnesses claiming to see a red-headed man in a hospital gown attempting to overpower a much smaller female moon elf. Wards were expended by the female tiefling to aid her moon elf companion, and the red-headed man was eventually subdued, and brought back to the Church of Ilmater. His unconscious form carried by a human male, whom, like the two females walking with him, held a somber expression throughout the walk back.

Over the last week or so an old man clad in polished full plate bearing the symbol of Tempus on his cloak and a holy symbol of the Red Knight around his neck has been seen visiting the local guard and Flaming Fist outposts in and around the city during the night, carrying with him a warm pot of soup as well as a pot of Kaeth, or coffee, to help the men stay awake during their night watch. It's said he often stays for at least an hour talking with the men and women of the guard, conveying the blessings of Tempus on them before departing.

By night, the woman stays at the Helm and Cloak. She rises in the early morning and dons her red and black robe. To keep off the Springtime chill a hood covers her gleaming bald head, which is patterned with brown designs of an esoteric origin. She walks through Baldur's Gate and mostly observes. Who comes and goes. Who talks with who. When she speaks to others it is with a thick Mulhorandi accent.

Earlier she defended the practice of slavery to some men by the tower in the farmlands east of the city. The words came easily to her lips as she spoke to a particularly indignant fellow: "Slavery is profitable to the realm, good sir. Our economy thrives due to the efforts of those who are sentenced for their crimes and who bend their efforts to the betterment of society."

A tenday after her arrival, the woman visits the Enclave and inquires if her earlier letter was received. She receives no answer, so she leaves her name. Soni'vaphra Anishtep.

Couriers bearing the markings of the Radiant Heart, leave from the Keep. Their destinations are Orders, Temples, and to private individuals all about the city and land surrounding, even so far as Kraak Helzak, where missives are delivered. It seems a call is going out!

Word would spread among the harbor and other parts of the city that the Siren's Song is no longer allowing Zhentarim aboard the establishment. If one were to inquire upon the ship as to why, the crew might mention what is written on the scrolls left around the city by Lord Luke Darius.

An illustration is posted in many places across Baldur's Gate, it is described as follows:
A rather generally drawn humanoid shape is holding a stick and poking it into the backside of what is clearly a bear while the bear looks back at the source of the poking very angrily. Between the bear and the person is a very thin fence. The person is labeled with the words "The Radiant Heart, House Darius & House Vale" while the bear is labeled with the words "The Zhentarim." The fence between the two bears the label "Baldur's Gate Trade Treaty."

Beneath the picture is written the caption "You can only poke a bear in the backside so many times before it turns around and bites your face off."
((If someone would like to draw this, I'd love to see it.

"Are the Zhentarim threatening to attack us? I do believe that would be a violation of their precious treaty ..."

Osric smirks and walks off after collecting a copy of the illustration for his records.
