East Gate district, The Wide...

A perhaps not very notable moment occurred today, as a rather short and wiry looking man and a blond haired woman, dressed in a brightly colored skirt, were huddled near one of the merchant stalls.

Kalehir, it seems, has two less potential clients as a result, the man and woman departing in different directions after the exchange.

A nervous moon elf is seen roaming the streets of Baldur's Gate, she looks at the guards suspiciously and tries to blend in, listening to what the humans say and talk about, she is seen speaking with a red haired human briefly at the palace district, then an encounter with a self proclaimed demon spawn and a shirtless man finally scared her off, and she ran into the woods alongside the Chionthar river.

Rumors have been circulating among the cutpurses and bandits who sometimes slink beneath the city. Bodies have been turning up in their holdouts, pockets emptied save for a single coin—one side depicting a red and black circle bisected by a wavy line and the other the familiar symbol of Mask. Is someone trying to send a message? Or perhaps it's just a crazed vigilante? Whoever or whatever it is, the once-familiar shadows that served as a refuge for ne'er-do-wells of the city are suddenly filled with more tension than they have been in some time.

Whatever their purpose, be it messenger, or vigilante, the strangers actions had certainly not gone unnoticed.

A swelling of shadows would arrive somewhere within the sewers, diverged at first, but slipping through the stench to eventually convene.
Their quarry now in sight, ghostly silhouettes watching as masked form went about their, perhaps, contentious ritual.

A coin is dropped. A conversation occurs, undisclosed to all but the silent gathering and the interloper.
A candle-mark passes, and the assemblage drifts to new, albeit secluded alcove. A quarter candle-mark more, and the gathering dissipates.
A single crumpled form is all that remains, punctured and face down, in a pool of crimson and filth.

Vampires and Urchins

Unread post by JustAnotherGirl »

On the night of the 26th of Eleasis, a brunette in dark red and black gear could be seen leaving the temple of Ilmater and patrolling the streets of the Gate looking for something. She was accompanied by her mate. Finding the streets quiet, they returned to a friend who was seeking help at the temple of Ilmater.

The brunette could then be found playing with some street urchins who'd been tossed into the temple for safe keeping during the vampire scare. She was seen making silly faces, playing games with them, and teaching them to make lemonade. She got some smiles and giggles from the children and seemed delighted to be spending time with them and able to ease some of their fear, even if for a short while.

Others joined her and talk turned to spiders and how they're helpful. She reminded the children that little beings can grow up to do amazing things. She helped them clean up and made sure they thanked the sisters at the temple before she left them there to rest. She was seen leaving with a small group of adults, a wide smile on her face.

Eleint 1, 1356.

A short and wiry looking man wearing robes could be seen at the bridge south of Baldur's Gate, as well as the farmlands, relaying to the City Watch and The Fist about a hooded and red-robed woman dragging around three undead. The man also made claims of confronting her and her pets, just south of the city on the tradeway.

The slouching male then proceeded towards the main gates, while passing a woman matching this very description and mumbling something unkind in her direction.

Not long afterwards, the wiry slouching fellow would be seen scribbling something on the public notice-board.

... a day passes, and the slouching looking man can be seen struggling to carry a red robed woman through the main gates to the city.
He then proceeds to deposit her slowly on the ground in front of the Thayan Enclave while mumbling under his breath, and then strolls off slowly in the direction of the harbor.

That same evening of the day that the woman was deposited on their doorstep, a Red Wizard would emerge from the Enclave without his escort. Few in Baldur's Gate would recognize this was the reclusive Magus Belhagruz Odrenkh. He strolled the short distance from the Enclave Gardens to the East Gate message board where he fixed a statement.

That night, a red clad woman of the same description was seen, visibly frustrated and injured. She left the city through the east gate, heading through the farmlands towards the northern trade roads. She traded no words with any passers by, only an angry eye for anyone who met her gaze.

DM SummerBreeze wrote: Wed Aug 26, 2020 8:45 pm Rumours have it that Oth Neren may have been indirectly responsible for a deadly night of vampiric attacks. By refusing to hand over some sort of key, and refuting any help given by a woman named Layla, who is a known vampre herself, to track and destroy these kin of hers, many innocent people fell victim to the vampire clans bite that evening. Whether handing over the key would have even made a difference, would be up to ones interpretation.

Rumours have it that a known vampire openly named Vik Dunhayev a "friend" and that she was looking forward to him potentially fulfilling his task and convincing the others to come to their senses and help her retrieve some sort of artifact. She seemed to hold Vik in a kind of higher regard than the others she has thus far spoken with.
While much of it is business as usual, there have been reports of unearthly screams in the sewers and docks of Baldur's Gate, silenced by unknown forces.

The word on the street however, is that more than a few of the lowborn scum of the Gate have been walking around with silver picks in their pockets, and a few of the scoundrels comparing the sharpened canines of their prizes.

Suffice to say, it's a bad time to be undead in Baldur's Gate.

Farmers and townsmen north of the Gate saw two forms wander into the great arena. A hooded woman in green, and wood elf in a blue scaly breastplate. None ventured too close.

Their words did not carry well enough to hear, but the waxing and waning of a heated nature of the words could be felt, if not understood.

After a sense of finality, the woman walked to the far end of the arena, and they eyed eachother.

Then it began.

In a blink, the woman shifted into a massive, towering, legendary bear. The elf took a step back, screamed something about fury, as he called down a vengeful storm of acid rain and lightning.

The storm was more furious than the bear woman expected. The acid washed across her fur, as the first strike of lightning hit her unexpectedly. She recoiled from the bolts.

But the elf did not relent, Calling a storm of lightning, empowered by the fury of nature, frightening for all to behold. The lightning would have slain most, but not this woman. She was formidable. She endured the barrage, but could not evade it. Blinded by the storms, she could make no progress.

In his rage, the elf continued the attack. Calling down a bombardment of elemental stone on the preoccupied bear. However, its size belied its ability. It sidestepped each bolder, despite the conditions. However, in doing so, it stepped into another flash of lightning.

In growing confidence, the elf pressed the attack, calling in another incredibly powerful storm of lightning, empowered once again. The wounded bear reeled, stumbling into blast after blast.

Seemingly unstoppable, the elf reignited the magics into a conflaguration of lightning, blasting the bear once again. While it took the blast, the bear was missed by the enduring storm, giving it a moment of clarity.

In that moment, the bear called down a storm of it's own, engulfing the elf. As acid burned his face, he was struck by lightning. While the bolt dissipated harmlessly into his scale breastplate, the impact stunned him. His onslaught interrupted.

The bear dashed out of the storm, as the elf was caught in it's fury, the tables turned.

The bear pointed a single claw at the elf, roared something incomprehensible, and the elf fell.

As the conjured storms dissipated, a farmer dared to move a little closer, to see the result.

The human revived the elf, and healed both's wounds. Whatever their discussion was, it went to a whisper as the farmer came. Words only for the two.

The two talked as friends, though some words still waxed heated. No hostility between the two despite the words or the bout. The two appeared to part as they came, as friends. The woman headed north, the elf, south.

An untrustworthy looking trio entered the gate looking for a man known as "Oth" and made their way to the "Lewd Lyre". There they confronted a man, where the heated conversation ultimately lead to them claiming that his house was responsible for the recent vampire attacks due to their withholding of some "key". The man stood stoically, but was clearly offended by their remarks.

Word begins circulating around Bauldrs Gate that a Seer has taken up residence in the city. She is often seen in the many taverns in the city, or visiting the campfire in the farmlands, reading fortunes and even (it is rumoured) speaking with the dead...
