A handful of Zhentarim agents are seen placing fliers throughout Baldur's Gate, one bearing the official symbol of the Zhentarim under High Lord Fzoul Chembryl -- as well as the Dreadlord's signature.

To the citizens of Baldur’s Gate,
The vampire threat plaguing you is no more. On the 24th of Marpenoth, 1356 DR, a single, devastating blow was dealt to the brood. The coffin of the ancient vampire responsible for these attacks, Namissa, has been sealed. All working to see her restored, to bring untold horror upon you and your families, have been slain. Even the vampire who saw fit to walk your lands, Layla, has been exterminated. When the dust of battle cleared, all that remained was the Zhentarim.
For it was not the Radiant Heart who protected you, nor was it the adventurers encompassing Baldur’s Gate’s nobility. While they were content to sit idly by, plagued with indecision, the Zhentarim solved this matter with brutal efficiency: just two moves. Many on the coast may disagree with our methods, but at the end of the day, we get results.
This information may come as a surprise to many of you. On the 14th of Marpenoth, Grand Knight Aaron Lyonaler of the Radiant Heart publicly claimed the Zhentarim was involved in the vampire attacks plaguing the coast, to discourage you from taking a free meal. This slander was not born out of ignorance, but was an intentional lie. He knew what he was saying was incorrect at the time -- and he even admitted as much later, behind closed doors. His own allies now think less of him for it. So should you seek his guidance in the future, people of the gate, be mindful that he is a paladin who is willing to throw away his own honor for a convenient lie.
Baldur’s Gate will face more threats, in the future. And when it does, remember you have an ally in the north. For even when the world seems at its bleakest, and disorder reigns supreme, the Zhentarim will stand strong. We always have -- and we always will.
Signed,
Dreadlord Victoria Thornhart
Lord Castellan of Darkhold
26th of Marpenoth, 1356 DR

When approached by concerned citizens over a proclaimed lie he had told, he would simply state to the good people that no lie was told. That he had never said the Zhentarim themselves participated in the attacks the vampires had committed, simply that they were now allied together, the Dreadlord having sold one of her own to the vampires to secure their alliance together; which would be confirmed by anyone present at the grain delivery. Nor that he had nor would ever back out of anything he had actually said. These mystery allies she got this information from would lead any to believe her information network not worth a single copper and she taken for a fool (His words). After answering any other questions, The people would be allowed then chose for themselves who they wished to believe.

*After a man in a hat had read the fliers that was being passed out by the Zhents he curls a lip with a feint chuckle and says*....
"For everyone who held my words false or held me in disbelief...I will drink and laugh at your incompetency this night. Thou sad that I
never had a chance to met that particular someone sooner. Might have prevented many unnecessary deaths. Oh well, I will need to find a drinking companion, I do have much boasting to celebrate!"
*He discards the flier in a nearby trash bin, and counts his coins as he heads off to the road that would lead him back to the Gate, for he wishes to visit the Elfsong*

A dwarf and a few other folks are seen nailing flyers to notice boards and the like.

A few wagons filled with wooden barrels were seen escorted by Dreadlord Victoria Thornhart to the Northern Farmlands of Baldur's Gate. When they arrived at the border to Baldur's Gate, Victoria immediately declared her intent to distribute clean water and requested a Duchal Representative to inspect it. Should no issue be found, the following letter would be distributed around the Gate.
To the citizens of Baldur’s Gate,
Be warned: the River Chionthar has been poisoned by the bugbears on Thundar’s Ride. The aid of druidess Sarrisay, and the Green Enclave by extent, has already been requested.
It is unknown if that poison will reach as far as Baldur’s Gate. But in case it does, the Zhentarim will be providing free, clean water to the city. Our clerics have cleansed as much water as they could from our well in Darkhold. It will be available in the northern farmlands, should you or your family wish to take this precaution.
Additionally, I request any Duchal representatives to immediately investigate the river for contamination, to see if it has reached the city. Please keep the public informed in this matter and publish the results.
Signed,
Dreadlord Victoria Thornhart
Lord Castellan of Darkhold

A broad-shouldered dwarf is seen and heard asking questions and lecture those not aware of the villainous new Banite temple at Soubar. He seems agitated and angry of its existence.

Tis not only rumored but outright known, that Jon Smythe, the half-Elven proprietor of the Chionthar Charter & Seaward Supply Company, was recently, over the last few days, and regularly, active within the Wide, seeking information and location of any current Gate population that was once citizens or residents of Corm Orp, whom had relocated to the Gate within the recent year...and after recent Local Law changed around the Corm Orp village, regarding greater Darkhold influence.
It is also rumored that Smythe was actively seeking rangers that had experience of traveling the lawless lands of the north and the more Western Heartlands, or, rangers willing to apply their skills anew, in that region. Smythe was open and confident to being able to compensate those of the profession, and willingness, to these ends.
Smythe was known to take temporary dwelling at the Helm & Cloak Inn.

5th of Nightal 1356 DR
In the middle of the afternoon the red-headed man known as Adrian Baker joins the blonde-haired elf Lylan'Synor Syr'Asiryn nearby the Radiant Heart compound. They converse among themselves for a while, appearing in good spirits. They are soon joined by a cadre of elves, some of whom wear priestly or wizardly garbs, while the rest appear to be rangers.
The elves are greeted in kind words by Lylan, using the elven tongue. As words are exchanged the tone becomes a more serious, though never unpleasant or hostile. After a few minutes the conversation quiets, and a nod is given all around. A nervous looking Adrian joins hands with Lylan, and steps in among the elves. A moment later the group disappears in a flash of magic.

Three parchments are disseminated by Luke throughout the city. The first is left in the Lewd Lyre within Darius Estate, the second at the Elfsong Tavern, and the third taken to the High Hall within the Palace District of Baldur's Gate.

Status of Fingal Darius within House Darius
I write to correct an error I spoke at High Court on 5 Nightal 1356. While away from public life, events transpired within the mercantile establishment known as House Darius involving my brother Fingal’s departure from our organization which was beyond my knowledge.
Given Fingal’s departure to Waterdeep with his family and to not strain our familial bond, these events were not brought to my immediate attention. The words spoken by Steward Goldenmane regarding my brother’s departure from our organization were and continue to be true.
Long live the Dukes! Long live Baldur’s Gate!
