The deep silence in the Serpent Hills was interrupted by an arrow in flight, and shortly after a thumping sound of dead body embracing the ground. Battle ensued, where elven blades and arrows brought swift end to Yuan - Ti which guarded the entrance to the Trail.
Those were the elves of Dharasha. A warband of four - a warrioress by the name of Amber, two rangers, Feralyn and Jhaeros and a bardess, Iliana, with a task at hand to investigate the recent sightings of Drow in the Hills.
"How many can you count?" Asked the bardess her mithral - cladded kinsman, who was kneeling and looking at the tracks in the land.
"There are many tracks leading down the south path. Let us take it." The group proceeded, confident and focused on the task at hand. The ranger was right. After every bend and slope, another group of serpent warriors and Yuan - Ti priests awaited, only to meet their ends at the tip of elven steel.
"Hold!" Said the ranger. "Something big is nearby." He added. The other ranger approached, inspecting the track himself. "Those are wyrm tracks. Be prepared". And they were, for it was indeed a large wyrm waiting for them at the bottom of the hill. The elves took advantage of the higher ground and easily dealt with the beast, and shortly after they found themselves at the entrance of a big cave.
"Seems like a perfect place for the Drow, somewhere where they could hide during the daytime. We should inspect it." And they did.
The two rangers were obviously uncomfortable in the dark interior of the cave which was infested with even more serpents. They pressed forward, looking for signs of Drow and soon they set upon a door behind which something big was moving.
Inspired and encouraged by the elven dirgesinger Iliana, warband decided to test their fate by entering. The room in which they found themselves was huge and poorly lit. With hands firmly gripping their weapons, they went ahead.
"Dragon!" Someone yelled, as the silence was broken with a horrendous roar, and the darkness was pierced by two fiery eyes. It was a big black dragon who had made his lair here, and the elves have now awoken him, fighting for their lives.
They reacted quickly, with Jhaeros taking point on the dragon, Amber slicing at his great head and meeting it's claws with shield and skill. The moon elf bardess hummed a tune which reinvigorated the elven hearts in their darkest hour and they came upon the dragon with great force, while the black haired archer fired volleys of arrows behind the trio at the dragon's eyes.
Marvelous battle ensued, as the elves parried the dragon's sheer strength with their eeire skill and concentration. Dragon was getting tired, but so were the elves in the melee. Thousand cuts were inflicted upon the dragon who turned his whole attention to the ranger who wielded two swords. Other elves flanked the dragon, slashing and aiming at his hamstrings and soft spots. And just as the vile beast prepared to launch one last, desperate attack at Jhaeros, Amber tumbled under his gigantic jaw and trusted her sword hilt-deep into the dragon's throat, delivering the killing blow as the fall of the dragon's lifeless body shook the very foundations of the cave.
The blackness of the scales below them were now fully apparent to the quartet as they came to themselves after such brush with death. And the hoard awaited to be shared. The four looked among themselves, tired and sweaty. The day was won for the elves of the North. The Drow were nowhere to be seen, but the remains of the vile beast decorated with elven arrows will remain as a sign that En Dharasha Everae is guarding over the land.
