"One can never have enough, as it seems...correct?" says Smythe, implying something...or not. "But if you wish to conclude this deal, then I can adjust to my coin offer by showing you this..." Smythe unveils to the dwarf an exotic blade of nearly unsurpassed beauty, so much so that by grasping its hilt, the wielder is granted a finer countenance, even a strength of personality unknown, previously.
"I do think that you, merchant of stoutness, can appreciate its ore qualities, its balance, its poise. It is ancient, bearing divine beauty forged from energy held within the clouds, such that it grants an immunity to shock. It is so fine, indeed...that would I add this to my offer for the scimitar, you will understand that I would lower the coin offered. Does this item hold value with you?"
Smythe watches closely the face of the dwarf, to see if he is skilled to even appraise such an item in its rarity, or will Smythe have to impart his own knowledge to the dwarf.

For someone that considers themselves an expert in items, this is laughable. A Druid? That's fine, I'll trade it to someone else.Karond wrote:"As indicated earlier, I do not place a high value on it. The slender figure's eye tightens as he watches the dwarf for a moment before pulling back his cloak, taking a jeweled dagger from his belt. Then he removes one of his gloves, revealing a scarred hand for which he removes a ruby ring. Placing both items on the table, he awaits the dwarfs response.Karond wrote:"That offer is several times lower than what I got it for. I'm not unreasonable, but I do need to turn a profit on the trades themselves or I would not make them. Any items of some note are acceptable, even preferable as it means less time spent restocking, or substantial amounts of gold to cover that cost as well as the item's actual worth."Maverick 40 wrote:A slender figure dressed in black steps toward the trading table. "Thank you for the concise clarification, Mr. Goldhands. I think I owe you a minor favor for a previous trade, but still, that can only go so far lass".

"I can definitely trade the longswords onwards, but the gloves I cannot. I would rather see a trade not involving them at all. As for your proposed armor trade, I never do such trades. If I trade one item for a near identical one but worse, I lose the edge the original item had to begin with for virtually no gain. I'm looking for any other trade that equals it in value, not such trades Sir. The clothing has little value to me. It's virtually the same value as the robe I already put up for trade. Your belt has value, but you've already put forth that you're not trading it for anything of these things that you want.Shad wrote:It would be the same Shocking Longsword EB+4, +1d4 Electric plus pair of a bit worn epic Gloves with EB+4 and Attack +4 on them. "It's a misleading weapon, Sir. It lacks much value, even the original 15.000 suggestion is generous. Find someone who overvalues it's shine and luster but not it's effectiveness, and trade it on to them if my evaluation of it is not to your liking. I'm just brutally honest"Steve wrote: Smythe responds immediately in the Dwarven tongue, somewhat unpracticed and not fluid, but easily and correctly understood.[/i]
"It would seem, clansmen, that your skill at appraisal has dulled, to say the least. Such that, when you spoke to the one-eyed man clad in dark-tinted plate, asking such an amount of 100,000 coin for a ring that is, with regularity, seen at the consignment stall, for half. I have seen it myself! And more than once.
And...that you look upon this blade of exotic nature, holding two enchantments, exceptional to the swordsman that would feint and attack with great skill, and dismiss it with such an amount, doubly calls into question what you do consider valuable...beyond your own treasures.
"I'll take it under consideration, but it's not an ideal trade for me. I've sold numerous rings of sorcerous power, which are better than your ring, for a mere 70.000. As such my evaluation of these items are bound to be somewhat low."Maverick 40 wrote: (( 200,000 Gold, Wizard's Ally Dagger: +2 EB, Bonus Wizard Spell Slots for 1-2-3, 14 SR, Improved Mind Saves +3 & Enhanced Ring of Aesenath: Charisma +3, Concentration +4, Sorcerer Spell Slot Level 2))

"Now I'm not entirely sure how to value this, but given the magical qualities of the one I wish to obtain I should gladly trade it alongside my original offer of 750,000 gold pieces. What do you say?"
