A dark figure moved through thickets and behind the stones in an attempt to shelter its presence. It jumped rapidly between shadows recklessly leaving footprints in the dirt as it made its way to where once stood the camp of Flaming Fist. The Spider hid by boulders slightly off the road, his yellow eyes piercing the night as he gathered his surroundings. A crudely carved figurine of a lizard was produced from pocket of his coat by one of his hands while the other one started to dig in the ground. It was a typical multitasking arachnid move. Suddenly, his head yanked at nearby campfire and caravan. Footsteps. He dropped the figurine in the dirt and with tug on his sleeve he pulled out a wand. Within a heartbeat, the man was gone from sight again. Within another he was gone from the site entirely, leaving behind the half-burried resemblance of a chameleon.

A man with green and red hair leaves a small package on the lumber near the coal burner outside of the Friendly Arms Inn. Inside is a letter accompanied by a bloodstained Flaming Fist badge. Although the letter is unsigned, the man makes no moves to conceal himself as he leaves the package; any onlookers would easily recognize him.
This.

This is what I had hoped to avoid. Needless bloodshed in return for the theft of the wood from the forest.

Blood has indeed been shed, and more will be unless the wood is returned. It is out of my hands.

Those whose lives have been taken by the forest have been buried by my hand; put to rest. I wish and hope to not have to bury any more under these types of circumstances.

Please listen to the forest; return the wood, so that no more violence is forthcoming. This is not a threat; it is my plea.

Following the troubling rumours of the coffin bearing caravan a Mithral elf, familiar to some as Yuri Lichelina, followed its bloody trail to the Friendly Arms Inn and from it into the Woods of Sharp Teeth with his sword held tight. Unfortunately for him his worst fears were realized upon the discovery of a corpse and eventually a vampire spawn.

A trail and battle that eventually led to the culprits themselves: Three Vampires. Two Fighters and what seemed like their leader, perhaps the rumoured traveling "Lord". All surrounding yet another bloodied corpse. Only after fierce fighting did the Mithral Elf emerge bloodied and limping yet victorious.

An event that he quickly informed the guards at the Inn about, as well as retrieving the remaining bodies and transporting them to the caravan itself. Should grieving families wish to at least offer them a proper burial. Though the Elf strongly recommends cremation just as a precaution. Even if those that could turn, and did, were long dead Vampire Spawn by now. Still, he stayed with the bodies a while as he waited for sunrise and perhaps the guards of the FAI to respond if they wished.

Though his further investigation left him even more worried upon finding three more bloodied coffins in Cloakwood, with a Vampire Spawn. And yet another Vampire Spawn at the Lions Way. Troubling news that he brought before the Friendly Arms Inn guards, warning caution as more vampires could be lurking if the number of coffins is anything to go by.

The morning brought heavy mist into the troubled greens of Cloakwood. Dew lingering on thickets and leaves sprinkles in a cold shower when trees are disturbed. Moist, mossy ground squishes under one's step, making it difficult to tread quietly. Droplets of night's rain gnaw at echo usually carried throughout the woods.

On the other side of the stream, deep within the forest, the wind blows seemingly in spite of the fog, almost as if in an attempt to get rid of the coverage. When it succeeds, it looks almost as if trees themselves have moved their branches to wave away the thick fog in their stiff dance. The leaves falling off their crowns in a fluent twirl, lulling in with the stubborn fog that would rather turn green than to be rid of Cloakwood.

Where a holy ritual had been performed a ten-day or two prior, two hearts murmur softly to one another in the center of a ring in the forest. Left behind are careful trinkets.

The first is a skunk made from diamonds with two holy symbols in its hands: a golden heart and an asymmetrical starburst, glimmering in what light shines through the canopies. Its eyes in particular shine brightly, sparkling even in the darkest of nights. Set and skewed rakishly onto it is a ring made from marigolds, with parchment paper looped around its woven stems. On it is a poem. After about a day, the poem's contents are muddled and worn by the elements, but the fact that the trinkets were left where Hanali's golden heart had shown a tenday or two before, is hardly a coincidence.

Vows were also made in the rain, but not quite nuptial vows. Promises were made regardless.

Thou wouldst be loved?—then let thy heart
From its present pathway part not!
Being everything which now thou art,
Be nothing which thou art not.
So with the world thy gentle ways,
Thy grace, thy more than beauty,
Shall be an endless theme of praise,
And love—a simple duty.

Those passing by the old forest of Cloakwood could notice destruction wrought to the fairy ring. Fungi splattered everywhere, almost as if something exploded from within. Whatever caused the havoc, the growth spurs back to its former, unsettling glory as the mushrooms sprout with renewed strengths.

A familiar druid, now sporting his winter hair, spends some time near the fey circle. He plays some tunes on his lute, not singing. The tunes seems sorrowful, perhaps even mournful. Perhaps he is saddened by the recent unseelie bloodshed? Perhaps there are other, hidden reasons. Or perhaps it's simply because his summer court bloodline longs for spring. Whatever his reasons, he continues for a while before shifting into a winterwolf and then heading south.

Whether it was the singing of a Druid dressed for winter, or the fading green fog or something altogether different, but thousands of birds diverted to the Cloakwood by strange weather patterns, gradually rose and continued on their respective journeys south. They left behind a vast and widespread scattering of seeds throughout the great forest, numbers beyond the counting laid all across the wild depths offering a huge boon to the hopes of a spring recovery. Strange times in the forest continue it seems, this time more hopeful than before.

A familiar-to-some large white wolf has been seen running through the forest more frequently these past few days. In the depths of the forest where few people trod, singing could be heard on occasion. Laughter long lost to the forest has returned in places.

If the Guardian of the Cloakwood was asked about these things, he'd reply, "The forest has its song back finally."

For a handful of hours, starting just before midday, and lasting into mid-afternoon the copper-haired artist known as Adrian Baker can be spotted near the lighthouse south of the Lion's Way. Even when not there, signs of his passage is visible: scuffed ground tainted with blood, or scorched by fire mark the occasionally fight against the dangerous wildlife roaming the area.

To any approaching him, or asking his purpose there, he states it quite simply.
"I'm here t-to keep the area a little s-safer for travellers."

To the few that ask him why, rather than just accept his actions for what they are, he elaborates a bit further.
"I'm an instructor a-at the Bladestone Foundation school just n-north of here along the Lion's Way. I have no c-class to teach at this hour, a-and no studies of my o-own today. Figured I could at l-least spend some time k-keeping travellers safer." He then adds with a small grin. "And d-direct the weary, hungry or t-thirsty to the inn that's p-part of our school."

Throughout those few hours Adrian does what he can to keep the wildlife at bay, and give bandits and would-be-robbers less incentive to ambush travellers at that small part of the Sword Coast.

As it was on a clear midday yesterday, so it is on a rainy night tonight.

Another of the Bladestone Foundation can be seen guarding the light tower, the beach below, and the surrounding woods.

From dusk until dawn, Deputy Headmistress Lylan'Synor Syr'Asiryn can be seen next to a tent pitched close by. Or patrolling the area, on the lookout for any bandits who prepare nighttime ambushes for morning travelers.

Warding off the aggressive beasts and monstrous insects preying on the area via bright lights that might deter them. And using her blade only when it's necessary to keep the roads safe.

****[Update]****
The Deputy Headmistress remained resilient in her vigilant watch even when the rain raged about her into a freezing storm, and rolling fog came rumbling from the sea.
Come dawn, the land around bore marks of her night spent there. Blood soaked the muddy ground, dotting shadowed spots and burn marks. The chemical trace of fire beetles is still in the air, fresh after the heavy rainfall.
Here and there, pieces of fur and broken teeth might be found among the bushes. The area however was cleared of any carcasses or bodies.
And on the far side of the beach, hints of a battle can be traced. The potholes created in the sand by fighting figures are welled with rainfall. To the observant eye can tell a story of one fighting off several.
Come dawn, Lylan can be seen returning to the Lion's Way, accompanied by another woman. The two parted ways at the Warrior's Rest. Lylan'Synor went inside, while woman continued her way to Candlekeep.

A lone figure stood on a hill looking over the Woods of Sharp Teeth. Her gaze was staring into the distance, hardly moving from the spot. The wind picked and tossed her hair and scarf about but she seemed to not notice the wind nor the cold. She held onto a blonde yew wood bow with blue markings along the wood. A mark passed, then another. It began to rain but the figure did not move. Not until the the light of the day faded and turned into dusk.

During the afternoon hours of the day a patrol set out from the Bladestone Foundation. Dressed in newly acquired uniforms, the duo travelled along the Lion's Way, and took a round-tour of the area outside the Friendly Arm Inn. There was a brief stop to speak with other travellers in the area, informing them of their purpose there, and where to find their school.

Their patrol hereafter took them south along the Tradeway, towards Beregost. A few ogres ambushed the patrol, and were quickly dispatched of. Upon reaching Beregost the patrol skirted around the outside, apparently not wishing to intrude upon the juristriction of the local Beregostian guards. They did, however, stop to inform the guards of their purpose there.

Image

"B-Bladestone out on patrol. We'll k-keep the road a little s-safer for a while."

The Bladestone patrol then continued on towards Gullykin. Outside the walls they were met with the self-proclaimed guardian of Gullykin — Theadric Trickshot. After a quick introduction, their purpose was once again explained: The Bladestone taking an active role in keeping the roads safe.

Image

Farewells were had, and the two members of the Bladestone school travelled back to Beregost, into the High Hedge area, and from there up along the coastal area just south of Candlekeep. In particular the landing area near the lighthouse, where rowboats to and from passing ships were found, received special attention. Feral wildlife was driven away or dispatched as the patrol went through the area.

Eventually the patrol made it back to the Bladestone Foundation, thus completing their rounds for the day.

Passersbys will notice that all guards stationed at the Bladestone Foundation, and those patrolling the roads, are now wearing a uniform.

A Trio was seen wandering down the Lion’s Way toward Beregost. Rumor has it that they had left pyres of pact bound orcs near a cave in the Forrest of Sharp Teeth and where heading to investigate rumors of Gnoll Occultists in a den near the Bladestone Foundation.

As they neared the intersection of the road that leads to Candlekeep. Waves after waves of Undead was unleashed upon them. In the Frey the three Helmite Witch Hunters where aided by a wandering Hoarite. The witch hunters lead by a devoted and beautiful female Paladin came with two rough looking men. A quiet man that was overhead being called “Confessor” and a preacher that has been seen preaching in the Outer City.

As more waves of undead spawned the Pious Priest spent his last Prayers protecting his companions before being targeted by the vile necromantic magics of the Unknown Necromancer. After the Battle the Priest was loaded into a traveling wagon and sent to the Temple of Helm to be raised from the dead so that he might serve Helm.
