Context: Mia exits Naskel with Esa. A Duerger is on the road, and on seeing them dives for cover behind some trees and rolls a pitiful hide.

Mia: *to Esa* Is he trying to hide?
Esa: *shrugs and moves closer to the bush*

Mia Moves closer to investigate as well. Hunar yells at them to stay back, but after a few moments calms down. They have a peacful conversation at the end of which Hunar comments that "You surfacers ain't so bad".

Esa: *wonders why Mia didn't kill him*
Esa: Are you friendly with all their kind?
Mia: Ironfaar dwarves? Why not?
Esa: . . .
Esa: I don't think he was a dwarf, I think he was a duergar.
Mia: Huh?
Esa: A duergar, *looks at her* from the underdark . . .
Mia: Really? hmm *glances back* I thought it was odd he called us "surfacers"...
Esa: Yeah.

Mia and Esa reach the top of the hills looking over the hill giant valley.

Mia: What's he doing up here then?
Esa: *shrugs* Killing, looting, raping?

I wish I had some screenshots to go with this... But as I was getting ready to write the journal entry... I came across Jonas' party chat rp as he was hunting for Meri:

Sir Jonas Rokranon: After Jonas leaves the city after an irritating day at court, he heads to the orphanage to check in. Upon reading a note left by Meri, the paladin tosses it into the fire and heads back out of the orphanage and to the south.

[Sometime Later]

Sir Jonas Rokranon: When it comes time to leave the road and venture into the Wood of Sharp Teeth and into Doron Amar, as Meri's note suggested, he feels an odd pull from the empathic bond in the opposite direction. Grumbling to himself that Meri has, once again, gotten herself resoundingly lost, he continues to head south along the road.

[Oh where oh where has the little saint gone...]

Sir Jonas Rokranon: He stops to speak to one of the Fist officers near the Friendly Arm. "Have you seen Saint Merielle come this way, goodman? You know, the tiny Ilmateri with a halo? She likely has a bag of muffins or pastries, or cookies, or some such."

[The hunt continues along the Tradeway]

Sir Jonas Rokranon: He nods. "Thank you, goodman. I'll keep looking for her." Jonas keeps trudging down the Trade Way, the clanking of his metal boots alerting everyone within a square mile that he is bumbling along.

[Musings of a Tired Nobleman]

Sir Jonas Rokranon: Jonas glances to the Inn, wondering if people think Bentley is getting old and fat simply because he has a nice place to live. The paladin dismisses the thought and continues south.

[Bandits are not only evil these days... but rude...]

Sir Jonas Rokranon: At the crossroads to the Lion's Way, Jonas is ambushed by a bunch of bandits calling him old and fat. "This must be the right way," he mutters to himself, scowling at being called old and fat. Again.

[Good paladins on boring walks always follow the rules!]

Sir Jonas Rokranon: Jonas walks up the causeway to Candlekeep, and addresses the guard who should always be on duty, because his player totally does not ignore NPCs. "Good evening, goodman. Has Saint Meriele been by the Keep in the last few hours?" This question might seem a bit odd with all the blood and gore splattered on him from the bandits.

Sir Jonas Rokranon: "Quite alright, I appreciate the help. Torm keep you True." He turns on his heels and clanks back down the causeway.

[A man on a mission...]

Sir Jonas Rokranon: Seeing some random, misguided soul in the distance, he walks the other way before he is asked him to detect evil on some other poor, probably-not-evil-or-seen-Meri sod.

[Meanwhile where ever Meri -actually- is... Battle looms. Epic preparations of noble do gooder, and resounding evil alike are paused because somewhere... a DM or DMs and Several players are laughing so hard the tears in their eyes make it hard to see...]

Sir Jonas Rokranon: Jonas, always with his friends even if his player is delirious from lack of sleep, smacks a fire beetle that could speak common. Calling him. . .old and fat.

[Arriving safely at his destination, he finds Meri is well enough, the fight imminent. Then he proves that he is an able paladin... neither too old or too fat... Though he likely should eat fewer cookies, and some days it is hard to tell if his hair is Aasimar silver... or just gray from stress.]

=) It was a hilarious bit of very epic rp. Even if we were all laughing far too hard to see straight.

Oh my gosh that was so funny. Here we were trying to be serious but were having such a hard time with such comedy being interjected. It was very hard to keep quiet with my baby sleeping across the hall...yeah. Fun times!

Hrmm, yes. My emotes for Jonas get rather silly the more tired I get. It's a good indicator that I need to get my rear to bed. Sorry for ruining the immersion that night.
