Re: Poll: XP Modification
I aggree with chad, but I voted for adding new ways to earn IC RP XP because of how much difference that can make to gameplay overal! Players go where there's XP to be had. Or loot, or other means to "advance". Social factor is not that strong on the server. From my experience on Middle Earth server (now dead because admins drove away that little player base they've had), where crafting system was implemented, industrial interest can build parties and interactions much better than looting or "hunting" or whatever excuse you make for OOC grinding (because very few characters would be killing things IC non-stop, when they would have other meaningful things to do). I know that feel when your soul dies slowly from grinding and weekly questing to get to that next lvl. By now I practicaly hate those quests. The only thing I never tire of is fishing. But it would be much better if there would be other options like that (Alchemy lab, smithy, hospital, gathering herbs, performin\drinking in taverns, etc. that would suit different types of characters and use other skills).
I put on my robe and a wizard hat...

Re: Poll: XP Modification
i do not quest. i hate it and do not like the system to be totally honest. I dont quest 1st level or 22nd. so to implement something that replaces what i knowingly give up is only a bonus to me. therefor i am totally biased in that.
what would make the current state of questing better? to me, i think a linear questline based approach is the best way to go. have it fit within the lore of the lands.
example:
soubar (one of four starting and respawning areas. others being inside BG, outside BG, and Uruk Lurra)
-mag tells you to get rid of a big spider in the hallway--kill spider---update+xp
-tell mag that the spider is there because it is eating all the rats--- kill rat nests(rats nests are spawns not static)---update+xp
-tell mag that wererats are the bigger problem-- slay wererats---update+xp
-mag tells you about an old temple to bane under inn---enter temple and kill quest triggered boss--- item and xp
-mag tells you to speak to a mage at a table---talk to table mage---update + xp
-table mage starts you on a questline that revolves around the minotaur tower and then to bugbears ending in bugbear cave.
edit: gonna copy this to another more appropriate thread.

Re: Poll: XP Modification
That is a good thought for those who like questing. What about those that continually ask for another way? Those that have other preference? It is always the same old song and dance. HERE DON'T LIKE QUESTS? LET ME SHOW THE NEW QUEST WE ADDED FOR YOU TO MAYBE LIKE IT! Look Sam I am. I do not like green eggs and ham. I HAVE tried them with a house and with a mouse I do not like them Sam I am.aaron22 wrote:i do not quest. i hate it and do not like the system to be totally honest. Okay, just throwing out an idea here, don't hurt me:
Give wizards XP every time they cast a spell. Let's say... 10 XP for a cantrip, 20 XP for a 1st level spell, 40 XP for a 2nd level spell, 80 XP for a 3rd level spell, 160 XP for a 4th level spell, 320 XP for a 5th level spell, 640 XP for a 6th level spell, 1280 for 7th, 2560 for 8th, 5120 for 9th. This is a fair system, very realistic too.
Also, implement the Wizard Population Enforcement Limit, stopping anyone from taking any wizard levels above 3rd unless the character was created before a certain date. RCRs change character creation date so that's all fine.
Then add wizardly permadeath. Any death in PvP where the killer followed absolutely every rule gives a permastrike. Assassinations add 2.
I call this new plan 'Let's Make Wizards Overpowered And Then Wipe Them Out'.

Not sure how seriously to take this but they will kill you XD. The xp ratios are outrageous, you'd reward a wizard for what he naturally does, such would basically ask for fighters to get xp per attempted attack etc.CleverUsername123 wrote:Okay, just throwing out an idea here, don't hurt me:

Again I guess you aren't being very serious but yea...
