It's not that having to gain XP itself is a grind, the issue is that you have to keep repeating the same content over and over again to gain XP..

There's a lot of various content coming in, more so in the last year or so than ever before and it just keeps coming. I agree that dungeon crawling with rp is more enjoyable though, always has been, at least to some.

Yes, this is true. Random DM interventions like that can be a whole lot of fun.

Plus you're right - even kobolds can be dangerous to a low HP character, without any CR boost.

no, it was firewine bridge. underneath i remember there being undead that were not nearly as tough as those kobolds.

I found the hardest part actually the iron throne assassin party that is hunting for both you and the villain. That party has a guy with arrows of detonation.

that was one of my favorite parts. had boots of the cheetah, so i could run around into doorways, hide, then sneak attack. and the guy dropped his arrows of detonation without firing a shot.

Regarding DM event level participation. Well sometimes we want to be the Gandalf, or Aragorn/Legolas/Gimli. But other times we just need to be the hobbits in the story.
