The prelate of the Order of the Radiant Heart writes a public note. Frederic and Toby, two boys who work for the Order, place it on the bulletin board near the Elf Song Tavern and the Friendly Arms Inn. It reads:

“For the Glory of Helm, the Vigilant One, and Torm Loyal Fury, let every one know that Kald Blake, paladin of Mielikki, was made a Knight the Order of the Radiant Heart.

May the heralds spread this news and may the Gods Bless this fair Knight of the forests.”

The announcement is signed by Thiago, a letter is also sent to the High Halls of Justice in Amn to inform about the promotion.

The intiate Auron approaches the chapter house with his appointed page Fredmund.

"Come Fredmund we have to fill out field reports on the events we have seen transpire of late. We have been derelict in this duty thus far and I mean to remedy that. You will practice your hand at writing while I dictate it. Do not look so morose Fredmund you were assigned to me, to be groomed and hopefully to become a Brother of the Order yourself one day. I would be remiss if I did not prepare you to have all the tools necessary to succeed."

After trading pleasentries with the guards at the gate the pair enter and pray together at the chapel thanking Triad and Torm especially for their blessings thus far.

"Ok Fredmund lets begin"

Fredmund redies his jars of ink and pens to take down the words spoke to him.

"Brothers of The Order I have been very busy these last few weeks since being intiated the Coast it seems is rife with troubles and is in need of every able hand to quell the encroachment of evil upon these lands. I will try and keep it short for I know every Brother is busy and time always seems to be a commodity we do not have enough of. After hearing of increased banditry a group of adventures I have known and travel with from time to time told me of a band of gnolls that had set up in a fortified cave along the Trade Way to raid against caravans and travellers. So we set out and found the cave south of the Friendly Arm Inn. We fought hard against the gnoll band and slew several of their leaders delving our way deeper and deeper into the earth when found the "ringleader" of the operation a creature I could not identify at first but later searches revealed it as a beholder gruesome abomination that it was we slew it and took what we could from the lair. Taking the gnolls ill begotten goods back to the Friendly Arm we dispersed what we could to the local merchants or the families of that we knew had been attacked or robbed by the band. While there I happened upon Brother Manus and Brother HalfOrken who told me that the fields of the dead had grown more dangerous with more activity from the undead and we should march there immediately. When we arrived even I could tell something was amiss even though I had never been there before the undead came at us in formations from all sides only by there strength of arms and faith were we able to make it through the fields. We found a crypt of note where it seemed the undead were pouring from. So we entered and fought our way through many warlocks and priests of evil magics and deities and their undead slaves until we came upon a room filled with a fountain of pure evil. It spilled blood in droves constantly flowing. There we fought advanced undead and several more warlocks and priests and finally the leader of this ring or cult. Only through my brothers strength was I spared in that room after the battle Brother Manus split an altar in the room asunder with a mighty blow from his sword fueled by Helms divine might. While Brother HalfOrken purified the fountain with holy water and channeling Helm's might again into the room."

"Take a break Fredmund lets go eat dinner and then we will start on the second report"

After two long weeks of absence in Baldur´s Gate, Thiago and Thiago II are now seeing around the campfire and city once again. Those who frequent go to Beregost may have heard that both went south and came back. Thiago the Second is particularly active near The Fields of the Dead, while his old man is seen closer to temple of Helm in Baldur’s Gate or on the Chapeterhouse.

A trip to Amn

Unread post by ttavila »

//Please, consider that the fallowing events occurred in the past 20 days in game. I wish I had post it before but since I was away from home I had not a decent internet connection or time to write a decent story.//

A trip to Amn.

Preparations…

In the Radiant Heart Chapterhouse Thiago and Thiago II prepare their gear to depart to Amn. Food supplies, some gold, weapons and armor two extra tunics and few letters are carried. Father and son talk about the travel that they are about to start.

- I don’t understand why you chose me to go with you, father.

- I need someone to travel with me; the road is long and dangerous, particularly in these times.

- I know that, but couldn’t pick up another one? Besides I am pretty sure you can handle the way yourself alone with no problem at all.

- Correct. But also I wish to spend some time with my son. Can I?

The younger paladin just smiles and does not answer.

- Take those fruits that you do with sugar, those things are good to take in travels.

- I will. Shall I take a set to formal clothes to the visit the High Halls of Justice?

- No, the formal dressing there is your armor, polished and well fit.

Both paladins leave the Chapterhouse walking side by side in the direction of the Chionthar River. Taking a boat to the south coast of Candlekeep they land to keep the path on foot. They make haste to the Trade Way and reaching Beregost is no problem for both. Close the city one goblin attempts to attack Thiago, who fast unsheathed his bastard sword and with a single hit killed the small best.

The paladins cross Beregost without stops. They avoid the most crowded areas in order to maintain their description.

- It would be unwise to let everyone know that The Prelate and one Knight of the Radiant Heart and one of the few knights won’t be around for some time. We should try to maintain this information a secret.

Father and son reach Nashkel by night fall and knock the door of the Temple of Helm. The priests, after a brief conversation, let both come in.

They would leave the temple in morning, during the sunrise.

Continue...

Dear Thiago,

I sincerely hope you remember me. You are my father, when i joined the order years ago i was just fifteen. Although expelled, i would still like to serve the order. What i am asking is to join your Men At Arms if possible. I do not feel fit as being a paladin, although i feel i agree with most of the codes I still disagree with some.

Sincerely, Your former apprentice,
John Roland.

A trip to Amn

Unread post by ttavila »

Just after the sunrise both paladins leave the temple of Helm. The sky is still painted in red orange tones and Cloud Peaks can be seen from far away. Thiago and his son still attempt to remain concealed among the crowd, their swords are sheathed and the shields under the cloaks. The elder paladin caries his staff and with helps him to advance the hard terrain.

With hast both reach the top of the Cloud Peaks where for the first time they found a real battle ahead, yetis. The vicious creatures attack both with no mercy. The prelate of the Radiant Heart attempts to hold his large bastardsword and charge in his first attack, but it is too late. The young paladin, in fast and precise move slays the yeti with a single hit.

- Impressive, I have never seen such a powerful attack before.

Thiago the second removes his hood and replays to his father.

- It was a good smite indeed. But I think we should expect more of those best on the way that we fallow.

- Of course. Do not worry we can handle them.

And both keep their way to Athkatla going down the Cloud Peaks. Several other monsters attack the paladins. But they are well prepared. While Thiago the Second fights with more grace and stile his father is aggressive and efficient. It is also observed that the elder paladin cast much more spells during and in the mean time of the combats. In the middle of the afternoon they reach the Twin Towers and decide to proceed to the city of Crimmor which both just pass trough.

Taking the east direction they head to Athkatla. In the city of coin they go straight to High Halls of Justice, where they arrive by the night fall. Thiago and Thiago II are allowed to enter promptly as they identify themselves. A warm room with two beds, water and food is prepared. The visitors change their clothes and rest for a while. During the dinner they eat with some of the Radiant members in Amn and share stories of battles and deeds. In the next morning Thiago address himself in a formal meeting with the three prelates in Amn. Few know what has been discussed.

The letter is answered as the fallowing.

"Mister Roland,

O course I remember you. I still pray for you find your way back to grace and reason. At this moment I can’t say yes to your request. The Radiant Heart Order is not recruiting guard members right now. We shall let you know if this scenario changes.

May Helm watch over you and the Loyal Fury keep you true.
Thiago

// PM sent to DM concerning the meeting with the prelates.

In the same morning after the meeting with the prelates of Amn, Thiago and his son took the way back to Baldur’s Gate. They presence in Athkatla was short, the night and part of the morning. They made haste to come back knowing that the crisis in the city requires their attention.

Kaltyra GreyFang leaves a message with one of the guards outside the chapterhouse:

"I ran into the elf Narindir recently. He is furious he cannot harm me in public places and has begun to hunt me. What is worse he and his brother are threatening to hunt down and kill my children. They do not have big walls to protect them. My children do not have big guards to secure them. I think the elves will make good on their threat and I do not like it at all. Can you help me? Please? My son is only a few years old, my daughter is even younger. I do not know who else to ask for help."

Upon her return to Baldur's Gate, Meri arrives at the orphanage, staying long enough to resettle and situate her two new guests. She then heads straight to the order Chapterhouse leaving a note for Thiago. She is also looking for Arionna.

"When you see either of them, please tell them to seek me out. I have to go to the temple for a time but will be back soon."

((If possible, since I won't have much play time tonight. I'd love to catch as many as possible on Monday or Tuesday. Thanks =D ))

He had never been one for the sea. Rolling and crashing, tossing and churning, he preferred the stability of good soil beneath his feet. Still, his duties had taken him far from good earth - to the very gates of the hells and back. Now he was going "home".

"Odd that I should think of Baldur's Gate as home" he mused. "When I first saw the place I wanted to run screaming back to Waterdeep. Now I can't think of anywhere else I'd rather be."

Thoughts of the region soon turned to the people he had known. Would any remember him? Would any care that he had been gone so long? His duty had been and always would be to Torm first and foremost, and when the Loyal Fury called, a man who claimed to be a paladin had best answer. So he had. And his adventure had taken him farther than he would have ever thought possible. But would those he had left behind forgive him? He wondered.

"What's done is done. I will eat as much crow as I am offered and ask for seconds. I am not too proud to apologize and accept my punishments. What comes will come."

The dawn was beginning to break as Aranath Turambar stood on the deck of the galley returning him to Baldur's Gate. His hand clasped on his sword, he faced east, to the just-visible coast. He was home.
Duty and Honor before life itself. How can I live without those two things?

Louise was seen approaching the Gates. She seems to have requested to speak with one of the paladins, and soon afterwards goes to wait inside the orphanage.
