Re: Underdark General Discussion Thread
Is it just me or rumors look more like facts than rumors? Shouldn't they be vague to the point of ridiculousness or blinding terror?
For example, in rumors, try to increase number of participants. Invert social role, genders, the theme of encounter and what it could mean. Rumors should not tell anything for sure. Chaos is basis of rumors.

I dont know man: what are you referring to, exactly?
Aelcar Lightbringer, Knight of the Merciful Sword: Disappeared after the victorious defense of the Gate against The Blight.
Olath M'elzar Valshar The Black, The Phantom Wizard: Retired Steward of the School of Necromancy and former Eye of the 7th Circle.

Re: Underdark General Discussion Thread
The best rumors are often facts that can be interpreted in various ways. Like with lies it is hard to deny facts that point a certain way. That does not mean the rumor is entirely true, merely what the rumor mongerer wishes people to think.
Though some will present falsehoods as facts as well, you can't be sure they are actually facts unless you check them.

Exactly.
If some secret mission that works on interests of Conclave, some little happening in forgotten debt ridden hole or every arrestant case is known for all it's content, even the most privy, then it is not rumor. Rumors are thoughts and whispers which support things that folk think they know or support. If a commoner sees something happen and tries to learn details, he does not get answer. 50% chance he gets to bugger off, rest is good smash and much more rude suggestion from guard that overhears your curiousness.
Rumors are speculations that got overgrown with lots of controversies and self-thoughts. If it becomes too true, it is not rumor.

I understand. But to which specific "rumor" are you referring? I went through my posts, but didnt notice this tendency...

A suggestion of mine would be to rename all the "Rumors" threads into "Happenings and Rumors of ..." thread.Rainbow Prism wrote:If it becomes too true, it is not rumor.

That way you won't know if it really happened, or if it's a rumor. Unless you investigate!

Re: Underdark General Discussion Thread
Headline:
we need more visible guilds, houses, religious chapters et al and guess what?
Only we player can do it. No players..no reason for being.
The problem:
Sshamath as a roleplaying background is right now rather overshadowed by the seventh circle. Why is this? Because no other faction is either making themselves visible via roleplaying publicly or choose to stay inverted if they exist.
Organization known to me in the underdark during my last two years playing here is/was:
The seventh circle
Bregan Daerthe
House Moriq.. (unknown)
The Temple of Lolth (dormant)
The Charnag (rip)
A congregation or two of Malarites
A congregation or two of sharans
and yet..all I usually find at log in are loners, some shady Daerthe character and a basketfull of seventh circle. (Admittedly it is now better than when i returned to the server last winter when i spent a LOT of time alone). The reason for this is not that the seventh circle has embraced all. The reason is that noone else seemingly wants to put in the time and effort to launch anything different.
High and low I find lolthites, sharans, malarites, kieransalaans, eilistraeans and vhaerunites occasionally when im online. Sadly it is rare for any of them to last long or form any alliances that i know of. Once again I do not see the seventh circle as the reason for this..it is again a question of putting efforts into it.
Do something yourself man!
Well right now I have the seventh circle, the pirates and a House to roleplay around. My underdark toons in turn have links into a handful of surface guilds due to...roleplaying...and none (that im publically aware of) in the underdark. If the temple again awaken from its slumber i have 4 characters to liven it up with pending playtime (and i know of at least two other active players with priestessess) by the way...
Officially besides the temple of lolth, there are a strong presence of vhaerunites and even a chapter of eilistraeans in the city. Also there are the mage schools and no doubt quite a few houses (traditional or not). Perhaps something to consider?
Since it seems underdark players not fancying the circle are having a hard time finding each other I thus propose that a new thread is made where aspiring founders of associations can post their ideas for associations and hopefully find likeminded enough to start it off.
No man is an island, Sshamath/the underdark cannot be the Seventh circle alone.
Hope to see something organized emerge that I can interact with.
My glove is tossed, who cares to pick it up?
Peace tpb House Oreb'le'i.
YMMV.

Re: Underdark General Discussion Thread
More guilds would be welcome, the Circle is a very open focal guild that aims to give Underdarkers of all colours acces storyline events and guildplay. But it was never ment to be exclusive to other guilds or to discourage people from founding them.
People can be members of both in my opinion, especially where it concerns religious guilds. Several members are both part of the Breagan and Circle or the Lolthist Temple and the Circle in fact.

Agreed. I think the main problem the Lolthites have is that they expect "classic" Lolthite status, and they will not get it because of the setting. They dont rule over the others, they cant kill at a whim, they are respected but not feared, not really. For many playing a Lolthite, that is not enough, therefore they quit.
Religious factions, formed by cunning people plotting in the dark instead of screaming challenges , would be extremely beneficial to the UD.

I revised the maps for the upcoming events. I am also revising Varalla's and much more. The mist lake bunker is only 1/100th of what I did for Undrek Valanar, which is the main defensive not a small garrison outpost.

Re: Underdark General Discussion Thread
A big thank you to the staff and more specifically to DM Vendetta for his hard work on making tonight's event a success!
In the end we had a massive lineup of over a dozen players, and Vendetta managed to bring the event off with skill and forbearance. Technical limitations were overcome and, in the end, the forces of Sshamath achieved another victory in the war against the Alhoon. It is my sense that once server 2 is made available the epic nature of the struggle will be even better realized.
I also commend all of the players who took part. I know that the wait the majority had to endure while a small group negotiated with the garrison commander must have been at least a little tedious. I do think though that all of those who participated (both players and staff) will get an opportunity to raise their "game" to new highs as the Alhoon plot line draws towards its climactic conclusion.
Once again, I encourage all of the Drow participants to find me in-game for a reward from the "Circle".

Yea I cought the end of that, I hadnt been on in months due to the underdark being inactive but was really happy when I ran out of other games to play and I jumped on and walked the old paths with lots of new content down there! Then the cherry on top was seeing the shouts about the UD, Great to see this I would love to get back into the game if it continues this way.

Re: Underdark General Discussion Thread
This weekend, (Friday 11/05 and Saturday 12/05 GMT evenings for sure, say GMT 20.00+) expect trouble in the tunnels surrounding the City of Dark Weavings...
The Alhoon has proven he can hit Ssamath's defenses with the attack at Mist Lake, and while the Circle forces defeated the first Undead sighted at Undrek Valanor, a few "shards" of that attack force seem to have splintered, and are reported roaming the tunnels...
Be on your guard, and remember: every lone hero...is likely a dead hero.

Somebody told me I should do what they told me...
