[The pair stand toe to toe, locked in a battle of care and devotion... one that the stubborn Ilmatari eventually wins. Her husband, content with a promise of pancakes later, steps to the side, allowing his wife to pass.]

'Mercy keep you in my stead, love. And children... Be nice to Mister Silene... no more flour on the ceilings!'

[Giggles resound from husband and child alike as the woman turns and makes her way to the Palace district.]

After an absence of a week, Kaltyra returns with something of a glow about her. She brings a few large beetle shells for play and demonstration while she shows off a few fist-sized baby beetles of the same breeds.

There is especial excitement when she shows how you can excite a baby fire beetle to light a fire. The beetle, now irate, begins spewing little sparks everywhere while Kal calmly asks the children what the best solution to the problem is, giving the children a controlled emergency to see how they handle thinking under pressure.

As the ensuing chaos draws attention, Kaltyra douses the small hay-fire and pats a frazzled boy smelling of burned hair, lending him a minor healing to deal with the his burns. The now crushed baby beetle is scooted under some debris and Kal hurries off after some congratulations to the kids who kept their cool under, as it were, fire.

She lays low for a while possibly to avoid any local ire from the incident.

When Sir Jonas Rokranon arrives at the orphanage later that day to check in on Meri and the children, he finds no Meri and the remnants of the excitement of Kaltyra's visit. His expression must have been a little too intense, as none of the children speak up to tell 'Uncle Jonas' what happened. Deciding to let it go for the time being, the paladin does what he can to help Juna out before heading south, toward Candlekeep.

[once things have settled down... Meri takes care of some things, until she gets a letter. She makes arrangements for the orphanage to be tended... and heads to the palace district quicky, a slight frown on her face]

[After seeing to Galen's wishes before his execution, standing witness to the proceedings... a Subdued Meri returns to the orphanage. Well before dawn the next day, her duties are completed, and she sets about gathering large bits of wildflowers, planting seeds for those she takes.

She is seen walking, quietly, offering comfort where she is able, over the course of the day.]

A young half-elf dressed in dark clothing arrives with magically enchanted toys for the children, sitting at the front step as he casually plays with the children, chuckling and laughing and completely allowing his poor poor familiar, a rabbit named Pots to be terrorized by the masses.

[Fortunately for Pots... in the interest of Mercy... Sister Meri offers him a saving grace. She thanks the man with a kind smile, and rewards the rabbit with a bit of apple.]

[Amid growing concerns for food supplies in the coming months, due to poor crops from an unseasonable amount of rain, preparations are made to ease the possible shortages.

Efforts to conserve and make the most of what is, and what will be available are put in place. That which can be stored ahead of time is so stored. Long hours are put in at the temple kitchen by the sisters and volunteers to can fruits and vegetables, dry meats and other means of increasing the shelf life of many foods.]

Messengers are sent out, to near by temples with the following letter:

My dear Brothers and Sisters:

I pray this letter finds you well. I will not take much of your time, but felt it prudent to inform you ahead of time. The rains on the coast have been excessive, and local crops are in danger of failing. This will of course leave much of the area lacking in food. I would humbly ask that in the coming months, any extra food supplies, grains most especially, are sent to our temple here in the city of Baldur's Gate. I fear our humble soup kitchen may feed more than the poor and ill in the months to come.

I can safely store a bit more grain at the temple and orphanage, and do not doubt that getting leave to use local warehouses to further store supplies will be problematic. However, I do ask that you refrain from sending large amounts at present, at least until the extent of the need is more apparent. I merely wished that you be informed ahead of time.

After a particularly difficult low justice trial of one Emrys Kerr, Jonas seeks out Meri and returns with her to the orphanage. Once there, he uses his young daughter's charms to ease the telling of some bad news, which ends up having the same effect on Dajala when she comes to visit.

[While Meri seems to handle the news gracefully, it isn't until the moon is well in the sky that she seeks to slip away from the orphanage. Juna, raises a brow and starts to complain, but spots the small basket full of flowers hung on Meri's arm, watching her go silently.

She does not return until later, just as the sun tops the horizon... Hood over up and silent. She quickly sets about her duties in relative silence.]

A young Fire Genasi woman nudges the door to the Ilmater Shrine open, quietly. The look in her eyes are vacant and empty, her clothes caked with blood. She holds in her arms the corpse of a woman and an arm and leg of a man. She approaches the nearest priest/assistant present and calmly and monotonously pipes up.

"Is Miss Meri present?"

The need for the Saint's presence would be quite obvious.

[Brother Marcus quickly sends for Meri. He then has the sisters help the woman with her... burden... seeing the whole lot to the infirmary.]

[as explosions rock the city dangerously close to the orphanage at one point. A cadre of people are seen escorting all 33 children, and one infant carried by the saint herself... Away from the fires and into the city. They wait in the safety of the Temple of Torm under guard of Triadic Knights, for order to be restored.]

After escorting Meri and the children to the temple of Torm, Jonas sets out for word from Crownsilver. After a brief discussion, he gets his child and exwife from the temple of Ilmater, and takes them to the Tormite temple with the others. On the way, he is seen issuing orders to various Triadic members.

[After a rousing game of alphabetical animals with the children, extra cots are fetched from the orphanage and brought to the temple of Torm.

The children are readied for bed, however Uncle Jonas feels it best they do not move back to the orphanage until someone who is knowledgable about architecture makes sure the explosions have not left the structure less than sound.

For now the children excitedly enjoy the little adventure... though it will take some time to calm the younger ones... and there is already talk of nightmares about fires.

Meri and several volunteers tend to the children, through the night.]
