Ninth of Mirtul, 1358 [May 11th, 2022]

I was informed by Isenduil that a member of the Fist made mention of a Cult of Myrkul in the City of Baldur's Gate. No reports of Undead yet but the Fist wish the Cult crushed before they do. It seems they had tried to summon a Tornado within the City limits so far but the caster had been killed before it was finished. The guard asked for vigilance and any reports of encounter. But that the guard seemed just as elated if they were handled instead.

I asked about any mention of payment of Isenduil and he said none was made mention. I stopped by the Headquarters and was informed that there were no bounties or payment for it, that the Fist had it handled.

Met the fiendling of House Darius in the city streets of the Palace District wherein I provided a single word of congratulations in Rashemi. The fiendling responded that it was unfortunate that word should spread; and whilst I've no context of her meaning, I vaguely steered ship rudder of the conversation to peel back more information of what she may have had on her mind; further conversation pending.

Met with and spoke with a Mateo Amberhall, archer and mixed-fiendish blood man who professors to be a rambler of the roads and a gambler. Still, he is mixed blood and I am skeptical. Our last mixed blood member of the Vanguard turned out to be an ally of drow. We'll proceed cautiously, if he is a fit and does not disrupt the group dynamic, then so be it.

The EDE officially rejects cooperation with the Whitewood Vanguard, including any supply originating from them. Feleron was a part of the discussion.

Tristam, a Volunteer Ranger for the Village of Beregost passed on a report to me of a Succubus that he has encountered at the Crossroads South of Beregost, and within the Reaching Wood.

He stated the description as: Tall, Voluptuous, Humanoid Female with pale skin and white hair. Red Glowing eyes. He stated they were frightening from a distance but enchanting up close. He has a mark of lips on his forehead, said her attack had taken a lot out of him and believes she may either return to finish the job as he has not seen it in some time or it has disappeared. He cannot recall the name as much as he tries but would remember if he heard it.

Martial training, siegecraft, waterborne management tasks delegated to Derien, Alton, Malakai, as well as the maintenance of Vanguard assets and logistics under their direct care so long as Derien hasn't been day drinking. It is expected the three to cozy up to the Bladestone regarding use of the Arena for martial training, as well as Kraak Helzaak for asset repairs and assembly. More to come. Fifty bags is provided to Alton, the other two will receive theirs at next visit.

Ninteenth of Mirtul, 1358 [22nd of May, 2022]

Lomar and I were salvaging in the Frost Keep where arrows would drop from the Giants, luck befalling me, I thought someone was following us at first but found nothing. When further more fell I thought then perhaps that it may be because of the Coin and the Seven Sons.

We continued our trek while I searched each room we came to in search of possibility of the items. Nothing found in relation. We departed the Frost Keep and the cavern that leads to it, to which I heard quick movement on snow below us. Soon enough a Black Wyvern turned the corner with intent towards us and I fell it. As wyverns have no means to be up so far we made our way to the gulley they reside in.

Scouring the valley we searched until I found a set of tracks leading to an undergrounds passage. Chests were found and a book that we could not decipher to which I sent for Ezrel and Micar'mizzrym.

In patrol with Watcher Wai Li of Nashkel, we've encountered a new dig site containing undeath. While no indication of Balkoth's involvement, the tunnels was subsequently cleared with what we could find within, a map procured and will be issued to Meredith for further actionables related, currently in Malakai's hands.

Twenty Second of Mirtul, 1358 [24th of May, 2022]

I have come to find the name of the Demon Summoner that has been seen in Reaching Wood, Soubar, and Cloud Peaks from time to time. Her clothes often change but she bears black hair, lightly tan skin, further details were written about Micha Carinsbane to recognize her for Examine and Conditional have nothing. Those who either have come recently into her company or have been long known are Lylan'Synor of Bladestone, her mate Adrian of Bladestone, Faelyn of Doron Amar, and our own Deselara. I have thusly warned them of what she has been found of.

Addendum: Adrian stated he met her yesterday.

Sirion recalls a story of him, Fenwick, and Aravae being in proximity of the dragon while visiting Boareskyr, encountering statues of people upon the bridge, darkness enveloping, with two pillars of light on either side of the bridge to encapsulate. The following words are recounted -

Someone whose name I forgot came to tell me about strange ... magic things in the north... very spooky, and he thought the church might wish to go take a look. So I mustered our armies and Fenwick and Aravae was it, so we went. There were some statues of people on the bridge, darkness surrounding them and two pillars of light on each side of the bridge surrounding it all. After making sure no one had a good idea, I cast a hundred disjunctions and those petrified people crumbled into dust, and then the dragon appeared to talk at us whilst twirling its draconic mustache. It said we had to make up for destroying its art. That someone was already poisoning the city for it, so we could go poison En Dharasha Everae instead.

28th of Mirthul, 1358 (changed to current irl date)

I was on my way to the Warrior's Rest from the Friendly Arm when I ran into Sirion and Netanya on the road early on the Lion Way and they were facing two odd looking fellows heavily armed and warded. They did not say anything at the time and Netanya said to me that she and Sirion were pirates currently. I followed them when they headed off as I was going to the same way. It was not yet dark then.

I had a few things to take care of at the Warrior's Rest and when I headed out, it was already dark. There was an army of skeletons waiting behind the gate and one death slaad. I took a moment to think what I should do and then the army suddenly vanished and a moment later two figures ran past with at least one giant skeleton and several smaller ones on their heel. They headed for the campsite on the hill near the coastline past the Rest.

When I left through the gates I saw two figures on that hill against the moonlight casting spells. I managed to get to the Friendly Arm before they caught me but I saw they followed me almost to the fort. This is where I met Alexander Marshall. His report to follow.

Come to think of it, they might have been waiting for me given to the location and the time that had passed in between.

I regret to inform the Vanguard that our Olesya has passed. The news was born of a deep gnome named Meredith who delivered her Vanguard Badge back to me in Nashkel, after following trail and rumors and observing our recruitment posters therein. My first thought was to see to her resurrection but she did not answer the call. I pray she is at peace at the end of her road.

There will be a brief vigil, held on the 2nd of Kythorn, on the high cliff of Ulgoth's Beard, where the Wind catches in the Windrider's Shrine.

Isenduil, the wood magi, reports that members of the Zhentarim's mixed forces sacked a village named Tirlis, located somewheres between Berdusk and Iriaebor. The village was decimated and the land corrupted, and key, several children were taken hostage by the enemy. We will, where ever opportunity affords, spend effort to try and find out where these children were taken, and if chance provides, try and secure their rescue.

The kind Svir Meredith was met by the merchant Blunt, discussion held on nomenclature and mystical interests therein discussion of Rockrun was publicly made and she and I whisked to the Upperdark. The settlement lie mostly abandoned of her kin, the Blue Lantern had succeeded on its part in taking hold, work conducted with Kraak Helzaak's resourcefulness though the latter's scope of involvement may be in question due to costs and political interest. Drow roam the terrain, and although Meredith made statement she is not keen on information brokering she had supplied ample information in identity of the drowess Mitheera, Kethelis' new residence since exile from Doron, as well as two points of Meredith's teleporting terminuses. I have hopes that she will do right by her kin in the newly establishing Rockrun, though her greed is a well recognized vice that we should remain optimistically cautious of.

Copies of correspondence,

Lord High Rider Dhelt,

I write to you with news of a potential aid. Captain Greil Nightgale, leader of the Ebon Blade Mercenaries of Soubar, has reached out to me and is willing to join the war on behalf of the Lord's Alliance against the Zhentarim and their allies, including the Blackrose.

In return, he would ask for the following to be agreed upon;

First, that the Lord's Alliance will cease any planned or future raiding against Soubar.

Second, that the Ebon Blades receive some aid in liberating Soubar should Greil be unable to convince the Blackrose to abandon the Zhentarim war effort. He plans to attempt diplomacy though I am not hopeful that he will succeed. However, should this agreement be met and the Ebon Blades fight on behalf of the Lords' Alliance, I would volunteer my Whitewood Vanguard to aiding him in the liberation of Soubar from Zhentarim allies.

Third, at the war's conclusion, the Ebon Blade's along with Soubar's governance, Mags, would be trusted with Soubar's defense and governance and left to its own autonomy.

If these or similar terms are agreeable please respond to this letter. If a meeting ought be held say so and we will come to accord. I realize from word of mouth from those yet within your circle that Soubar is itself, not a militarily viable tract of land in this war, however, with the Zhentarim armies outside the siege line any additional aid in this war would be a boon.

Fair winds and may the roads be bountiful,

~Captain Michael Dunn
Captain Michael Dunn,

The fact that you would advocate for these villains confirms your own continued moral failings. I will make this entirely clear to you:

Firstly, the Hellriders will not cease raiding Soubar until such time as all the evil and villainy that dwells there is gone.

Secondly, Soubar belongs to none but outlaws and monsters. It cannot be liberated, only purged.

Thirdly, under no circumstance will the Lord's Alliance acknowledge the governance of Banites nor the being known as Mag, whatever she may be.

As such, none of these terms are agreeable.

High Rider Dhelt,
Lord of Elturel,
Paladin of the Vigilant One

William Penn and his gnome assistant, Periado, are potential Vanguard candidates. Not sure what the gnomes qualifications are, but William is an engineer with some experience in building and maintaining siege equipment. He has a willingness to learn in its applicable use but should he prove himself a good fit his skills in crafting might be a rare asset.

Our old Vanguard, Elena, has taken on scouting work to supplement us while we focus in other areas of the campaign. She'll be hunting the Reaching Woods for viable Zhentarim targets, human, drow, or otherwise.
