Re: Rumours of Baldur's Gate
A rumor spreads around Baldur's Gate that the assassin responsible for the death of children has been killed. The corpse of the bhaalist was taken inside of the Sanctuary of Ilmater, later to be taken by a fist officer and hauled away on a corpse cart...
"Did ye hear they killed that murder'n bastard?" says the grizzled old man as he swigs his ale.
"Aye, I'mma wonder'n what them damn bhaalist'll do now..." slurs his friend, as he catches himself from falling from the bar stool.

A grim site can be seen on the road. Right where the Trade Way intersects Candlekeep lies the horribly dismembered body of a young human male. Deep gashes, scratches, and bite marks horribly tarnish his youthful body. Arrows puncture him like needles on a pincushion. A flock of carrion birds has already gathered to devour the poor soul. A note, written very crudely and in what appears to be the poor victims blood is all that is left give insight into this most horrible ordeal. It reads:
Duz urk land now! Da One eyed Grummish is king!!

* Tuk bravely fought until he could fought no more*

*Rumor spreads fast as Tuk was last seen in the company of dark dressed figures along the trade way... What had happened remains a mistery, but noone has seen or hear Tuk's morning jogging or eating cake in one of the Balduran taverns for the evening in the past few days...*

*For three days a lone figure, dressed in a brown hooded cloak, is seen kneeling at the Shrine of Silvanus. A small fire burns beside him without ceasing. On the third day the fire increases in size and a black billowing smoke is seen coming from it. On the evening of the third day the figure is gone and his fire is out, only ashes remain.*

Re: Rumours of Baldur's Gate
So where to begin this time..
The Bartender always has stories for those who pass through on occassion, even the locals who like to here a thing or two about the gossip being thrown about. But of course, like all good stories, he saves this one for those high paying customers above the average of typical drunks...
Like all good stories, and some bad ones, it starts with a boy and a girl. Only unlike most, the boy was an elf and the girl was lean young woman. She dressed in purple and held knives at her sides, while the elf, with his dark tanned skin dressed in mostly blacks and had a strong black bow banded to his back.
-- The source of the information is reliable, the bartender assures, from several fist members (who's names he does not disclose,) who were there or almost there, watching it happen... --
The bartender recounts the event of himself hearing the horrifing news..
"There were two people tha' disturbed the Flaming Fist Castle tha' late night.. One was a short elven man and the other was a short human female.. Th' elven man was lithe and carried a bow. 'e went by th' name of Rysdan.. Th' female wore purple and had dark black 'air... Firs' Rysdan was captured and brought to tha castle for one reason or another. Then a short whiles after I hears talk of possession... 'den of devils and shadows, and I sees a priest come runnin' down tha stairs. Tha' Commanding Officers of tha Fist were up 'alf tha night killin' demons an' shadows tha' I hears walked right out of this elf's body.. An' then, later in tha night a lady comes tumblin' down tha' stairs after breakin' into the castle.. She's hauled into a cell adjacent to this elf's and there's more talk about tha' girl bein' in tha' same bit o' trouble this here elf's in... She's cryin' an cryin'... screamin an' cryin'... I daren't look inta' eitha' o' tha' cells for fear of tha' beasts walkin' on out an' eatin my soul... I didn' see 'em, but I hear their 'owls an' battle screeches.. Then.. all of a sudden the elf slowly dissapates inta' thin air... and tha' girl shortly afta'... I dunno what happend in there, but may tha' gods have mercy on their souls... O'... the girl's cries...

Re: Rumours of Baldur's Gate
Rumours abound about an ancient rod of mystical power that can twist the minds of lesser men. It is said to be in the possession of Willow Ford, a kind priest of Chauntea, cloaked in green. He holds in safe keeping until he can find a way to destroy it.
Until then he guards it with his life fearing what could happen should it end up in the wrong hands.

Re: Rumours of Baldur's Gate
Rumors spread among the lower class bars, that the Dukes have absolved any treaties they've had with the Thieves Guild due to them working with the Banites. Will any further action be taken by the Fist? Nobody knows yet.
Wirg to Pug: "Iz lat dun?"

Re: Rumours of Baldur's Gate
*An old traveling Wizard passes through the region and lures a group of fighters and mages to search the haunted house for a magical box that he warned she not be opened.
The group finds the box, some drawn to the curiosity of what is inside, but a Soldier of the Weavemasters, takes the box and runs to the Istari tower, leaving it with the Exarch Deathrunes for further studies.
The box of a strange origin and as of so far only possibilities as to where the box came from. Now the Old Mage searches for the group and his box, angered that they had the nerve to take what was his.*

Re: Rumours of Baldur's Gate
Janice: Did you ear about them outskirts farmers? They've been coming in looking like death warmed over.
Susan: I heard their is something terrible going on out in there. Beast, banites, bhaalist; oh just take your pick!
Janice: I be hearing from Alith's brother's, father's, cousin that those farmers been coming to the sanctuary of ilmater, wanting questions answered.
Susan: Those mercy givers are good people, I'm sure they can help.
Janice: That's just it, these people look angry, confused, upset. Something about their own children, wives, or husbands being killed. Some sort of "message."; bhaalist or something.
Susan: Oh, that's just ghastly.
Janice: I even heard some of those farmers mobbed together, in a note of course, to demand the Dukes do something. They are blaming the attacks on a boy at the sanctuary.
Susan: What do they want, the dukes aren't miracle workers.
Janice: Maybe more fist, as it seems they've been arming themselves, getting dogs, setting traps.
Susan: Oh gods, sounds dangerous.
Janice: I heard they killed two boys already. Sara from the elfsong mentioned only one had the symbol of bhaal. Strung them up by their short hairs I'm told.
Susan: Horrible, were are they coming from?
Janice: ::Shakes her head:: That's it, no one is right sure. I just hope they can catch all those murderous villains.
Susan: As if the Iron Throne and Amn holding out on iron from us wasn't bad enough...

A rumor is going around that Aloria ap Ravar is losing her nerve. Aloria is seen weeping and murmuring about a multititude of betrayals and
assassins plaguing the elves of Doron Amar. She is seen being helped away by Elrithmithrade and Aurora because she seems heavily intoxicated.

Re: Rumours of Baldur's Gate
Rumors pass from lip to ear about elementals and golems being seen in Gullykin. The word is the hins have employed a "Protector" of their little village. The contructs and summons are busy erecting a tower for the mage to reside, pulling the stone from some place other than near the village. Yet none are seen leaving...

Re: Rumours of Baldur's Gate
Rumors spread among the poor and the downtrodden that Abby Winters, Adorned of Ilmater, was arrested by a lieutenant of the Flaming Fist.
The general consensus among those who owe their lives and well-being to the Ilmatari -- and to those who owe their lives to Abby Winters in particular -- is that the Flaming Fist ought to be arresting real criminals; not harassing those who lend their strength to the needy.
Even among the Flaming Fist, this lieutenant is getting the occasional hard stare and muttered comment: Abby Winters has regularly visited the Flaming Fist headquarters to treat the wounded, and she is well-liked by many of the soldiers.
She was released after questioning.

A rowdy halfling has been telling anyone that'll listen to him about his new-found hatred of a "retarded weak hin, a (germbag) long-ear, and some idiot in platemail."
According to him, the three ganged up on him while he was severly weakened, beat him to a pulp, then proceeded to rob him of his newfound treasures from the temple of Bhaal.
