While the pair of visitors are involved in a final questioning of a prominent Dwarven merchant within the Kingdom of Kraak Helzak, a youthful looking Stout approaches them, an ale stein in hand and an inquisitive look upon his face.

"Me over hears ye speakin' with a few of me kind here, lookin' fer rarities born of the deep. Tis be true? Ye can call me Simsae, and though my talents lay far from those that be minin' within the deep, what I can be tellin' ye both is that me personally ne'er seen what ye seek bein' openly sold between Stouts and outsiders. In fact, me ne'er seen either a Glowstone nor a Grimsteel bar switchin' Stout hands...but I ain't be the eldest of the Kingdom, either. Doubly in fact, such a thing as Grimsteel, ain't be a thing. Can be ye speakin' of that rarity of Darksteel.

If these things that ye seek be as rare as it be told, and with bit of the Luckmaiden behind ye request, can be that with a fine enough offer of compensation and provenance for use of such Dwarven-made goods, ye may be able to speak with some of the Elder Stouts of the Crafting Guild...if they be a willin' to speak with ye.

The Stouts of longer beards tend to resist supplying non-kin with Dwarven magic...unlike the more willing of us, the Thunder Blessed.

Now that I think about it, can't say I helped ye much in what ye seek. Yet, if ye need further help with one of the citizens of the Kingdom, and ye be willin' to make it worth me time, just ask about these stalls for the Telormar Gultor...and one of we will come find ya."

On the last day of Ippensheir three 'Troll Hunters' (two human warriors and and elf mage) arrived at Kraak Helzak. While one of the humans busied himself discussing the fascinating dwarven forge with a resident, the other human and elf approached a warrior of the kingdom;

"I am Arledge of Clan Arnemeiger, a Paladin-Inquisitor of the Holy Triad. These are my fellows; Isendir," he would gesture the blue robed Elven Abjurer beside himself, then to the fair Cormyrian swordsman busied behind them, "and my hired man-at-arms, Cristoff.

We have come as troll-slayers and mean to raise a camp in your walled courtyard; a base while we scout these Trollclaws and hunt our quarry in the days ahead.

With all due respect, if there are any objections by Clan or Kingdom to our presence we will move our camp to the wilderness highlands."

Now to the devil wi ye and others will fallow soon enough I'd say." He wanders his patrol "Aye nothin like guid axeship for gathering freends!"

A stonesinger of the Telormar Gultor, Simsae of clan Orcslayer, a youthful-by-Dwarven-standards Thunder Blessed Stout, citizen of the Kingdom of Kraak Helzak, parades throughout the halls of the Kingdom of Kraak Helzak, chanting deeply the call to Stout-blooded, and in hymn, rhythmically aligned to the drum-beat he generates with his hand-drum instrument, declaring the news that change in the Kingdom does come.

A Kin of the Stone
The Call of the Hammer
The Ringing of the Anvil
Our Home in the Earth.

When the Stone does give Speech
With keen Ear we must Listen
We Tunnel to the Depths
The Kingdom shall Expand.

The Fortress did Stand
Though Enemies did strike Deep
Lessons learned bring Change
The Halls are Fortified.

All Stout-blooded are Welcomed
Bring Clan and bring Gold
Built and Blessed by Thunder
A Kingdom to Behold.

An unusually short shield dwarf listens to the proclamation closely, his eyes widening once the chant nears it's end and what it would mean for the dwarven kingdom. So this is why the Watcher guided me here, he thought. With a slow nod, he cast a spell that would transport him to the human city of Baldur's Gate. Much work must be done, he thought to himself before the spell took him. One hand over the symbol of Marthammor Duin, he disappeared into the nearest tree.

It would seem that the Kingdom of Kraak Helzak beats with a different rhythm—a once consistent ringing that parallels the great forge and the production therein, is now replaced with the multitudinous clang and thunk that coincides with the visual expansion at work, all throughout the Kingdom.

Simsae the Stonesinger, found roaming throughout the Kingdom with hand-drum holding its own rhythm, while Simsae chants in the tones of the Deepstone Way, empowering the skill that is needed to what construction is at work, asks not a why or how such activity has come to being, but simple promotes is, through his own calling, that being of the Telormar Gultor, quick to step up in time of need.

One need, which has become evident, is the fees that aligned Clans employed in the construction, are to be paid...and Simsae sees opportunity to make sure such funds are collected, and eventually put into the right hands.

OOC// I'll be online for a few hours from this post, to collect funds, for the KoKH, if you have them. Cheers.

In the wee hours of the morning, hammers and picks and the neverending sound of construction could be heard from the Halls of Kraak Helzak. Thousands of dwarves, never ending in their excavation duties tirelessly work through the night.

Amongst those dwarves, a short bearded stout could be seen walking their ranks. As he walks by, he hands out to the workers canteens of water and little bundles of herbs for energy, hydration, and rejuvenation. Though wary, and often being met by raised brows, the dwarven miners and architects seem somewhat appreciative. He also distributes packets of food consisting of dried meats and bread to maintain the construction momentum.

Throughout all of this, he wonders to himself just how deep the dwarves are digging and if a scouting party has been established to ensure the safe tunnels ahead. After a while, he leaves the ranks of the workers in search of the chanter he handed his gold to earlier. Perhaps a dwarven expedition is in order...

Recent or current visitors to the Kingdom of Kraak Helzak for trade or refuge during dangerous times of travel would become aware that a small contingent of Stouts bearing an official seal of the Kingdom are preparing for an expedition.

What some may find odd is that a number of sea-worthy items are sourced from the merchants, to fill their packs.

Some speak of Wild rumor that the Kingdom has uncovers a might sea underground from which to explore and resource, while others speak of far off Clans that have secured trade with King Battlehammer, perhaps as a defense system against the lurking Evil within the Troll Claws, or perhaps to support rumors that the Kingdom is being refortified and expanded, in order to support a greater kinship among all Stouts of the Sword Coast.

Rumors, rumors, rumors....

After meeting with the stone masons guild a dwarf in burnished golden armour can be seen organizing a large donation of coin to the kingdoms defenses. A Runner can be seen explaining that the resources come from the Silvereye clan and that those who wish to earn their own fortunes and glory can rally at Kheldrivver to keep the war away from the home front.

For the attention of King Battlehammer; an application of residence.

I am Guern, son of Brokk, son of Bran Ludwakazar, born to the Thostheim Depths, may they rest in peace. I am a prospector for my clan without halls, and we have been miners and engineers since the building of Old Thostheim. With research needs, I have come seeking particular ores which I believe may be found in the depths under the Troll Claws. Given your standing, it would be an honor indeed to come to an arrangement whereby I can also work for the good of Kraak Helzak and yourself.

The ores in question are rare, but none have real currency value or common use. Details of them are at the foot of the letter.
I would ask no pay, nor provision, to perform a complete geological survey of your mines and natural caverns, to help direct future mining, to maintain reports on possible incursion routes from below, and to chase out any pests that come up. Oh, and I'll throw in a free beer warmer for your morning stout. All I need is a negotiable share of the listed ores that I may mine in your land.

Having held positions among the mine wardens of Thostheim and Scarnefell for well over 150 years, I can offer you considerable experience in the field. With Dumathoin's blessing, the Ludwakazars hope to enrich and defend Kraak Helzak for all.

With respect,
Guern Ludwakazar.

Pitchblende - An uncommon ore with a sharp acidic taste that yields grey-steel*, besides a number of esoteric trace metals.

Autunite - A rare flourescent green mineral with a complex and bitter-acidic taste. It is a secondary source of grey-steel* and a few other research materials, more often found in chambers of hot volcanic air.

Bismite - An uncommon yellow-grey ore with a silicate-like taste that yields an curious brittle metal.

Rheniite - A very rare dull grey ore, generally found beneath extinct fumaroles. It's yields are exceptionally small but of alchemical curiosity.

Mozanite - A rare and dense reddish-brown mineral, found among some underground waterways. It has varied yields of novel metals and is somewhat bitter.

Thoranite - A rare ore, rich with black-steel*. Sharp with a long bitter aftertaste.

Thorite - A rare ore of black-steel* that range from reddish-brown to black.

Any hitherto unknown ores, particularly those that bear intrinsic heat without magical energies present.

*Grey-steel and black-steel refer to non-ferrous metals, curiously warm, dense and somewhat toxic in their natural form, they currently have limited uses in making flourescent glass and high-impact projectitles.

Kingdom of Kraak Helzak Stouts—some more filled with courage than capability, however...—marched out beyond the outer gate in order to engage the Evil that leached out of any soft and porous surface with the Troll Claw Hills. The front line of these sworn protectors of the Kingdom took casualties.
DM Spartacus in-game wrote: ...early reports suggest the Dwarves hold out...news drifts in, then at a rush, a great victory in the Mountians...there is confusion over the victors, stoic and now quite drunk Dwarven ballista crews...
With eventual victory supported by earlier investments in defense against said lurking Evil, the King's Guard of Kraak Helzak were able to collect the wounded and near-dead Stouts who showed more valor than prowess, and through the divine blessing of the Mordinsammen, Stout Souls were returned to body.

Application for residence: to King Battlehammer

Let it be known by formal request that I, Berrik, of clan Hardhammer, wish to apply for residence in the dwarven city of Kraak Helzak. I hail from an outpost not far from Citadel Adbar and have come south to help in whatever way I can for the stout cause.

I am a brewer of fine ales, with Dragon's Breath, being my speciality. However it is in battle that my skills truly lie. I was a militia leader of clan Hardhammer, a responsibility unusual for one my years. I am a defender of Dwarven lands and my patron is the Lord of Battles, Clangeddin.

I am ready to spill blood, both mine and my enemies,to protect the Dwarven lands here and will subject myself to whatever requirements there are to join your fine city.

I travel often with my battle-brother Bhor Stonecutter, who I know is also keen to seek residence. We can be found usually North by the lands surrounding Karaak Helzak and Soubar.

I respectfully await your response.

Yours,
Berrik Hardhammer
