Well, Eo could try if Jero will go down the road. Down into the darkness... Of Underdark.

Re: Lore Assistance
I can't think of a faith where premortal confession is a "thing" - Ed Greenwood isn't a big fan of Christian-derived faiths - but any Lawful Good or Lawful Neutral priest would most likely keep a vow similar to the confessional.
Lathander might be a good choice, as well. He's a god of redemption and second-chances, so his priests are relatively open and non-judgemental.

Seeking loresomeness. Looking for information on the Dark Moon Heresy; the belief that Selune and Shar are two faces of the same goddess. Do believers have a different name for her? And is such a concept likely to exist in this timeline (are there likely to be believers out there)?
Any information would be appreciated. Cannot find much out there.

Re: Lore Assistance
I believe the only source of canon lore regarding the Dark Moon Heresy is found in Power of Faerun. Here is an exerpt from the sourcebook regarding the heresy:Aikura wrote:Seeking loresomeness. "Dark Moon heretics teach that Selûne and Shar are one and the same, two faces of the same goddess. Dark Moon heretics have access to the Cavern, Darkness, Knowledge, Moon, Protection, and Travel domains and can use the favored weapon or weapon of the deity of either goddess. Cleric believers in this heresy must be lawful neutral, neutral, or chaotic neutral."
Unfortunately it doesn't say much more than what you've already presented. As far as what she would be called, I would think that followers of the Dark Moon Heresy would call her Selune and Shar interchangeably or perhaps refer to her by both names simultaneously. They might also blend the titles of the two goddesses together. Selune is sometimes called Lady of Silver and Shar Lady of Loss, so dark moon heretics might use the title Lady of Silver and Loss.
Regarding the timeline issue, nowhere does it state when the heresy originated. However, Selune and Shar are two of the oldest deities in the Faerunian pantheon so I would think it's safe to assume this heresy began prior to the server's timeline.
Sorry I couldn't be of more assistance.

Re: Lore Assistance
Indeed that is mentioned in the heresy section of "Power of Faerun". That is the only mention that I know of, and should be taken as such, heresy, and false.
As for time line, this is mentioned in 3.5 lore, I have not heard it elsewhere. So I would venture to say it is after our current date, well after the Time of Troubles.
Last, Selune and Shar are THE oldest Abeir-Toril deities, spawned by the crystal sphere that holds Abeir-Toril.
I can post a link to the "Power of Faerun" from my dropbox when I get home, but I don't think there is much there for what you are looking for. There simply isn't much info regarding this cult, but that can be a good thing sometimes.

Re: Lore Assistance
Looked all over, and couldn't find much about it myself. I think it's one of those underdeveloped aspects of Faerun -- heresy, in general, is not much explored.

Thanks guys, it's thin but it's more than I could find on my own and there is enough information there to inform my (potential) RP. As always, you guys are loresome.

The concept is explored a little bit here and there. The notable fact is that, despite being heretics, they still receive divine power.

Then what about Ao...I'd think he'd be older, I know that Selune and Shar are oldest in the realm of gods that mortals can actually worship(Ao doesn't care at ALL for mortals...he does not need them in any light).mar3usmc wrote:Last, Selune and Shar are THE oldest Abeir-Toril deities, spawned by the crystal sphere that holds Abeir-Toril.

Re: Lore Assistance
From what I have read...Ao is the super uber deity. He is the guy that caused the Time of Troubles, he cast down all the gods in mortal shells(Except for...Helm I think, who guarded the stair back to the realm of the deities). He just makes sure the gods follow their portfolios and actually pay some attention to their worshipers(before the Time of Troubles, the number of followers a god had, had no reflection on the power they had...after it does.)Randall wrote:Isn't AO the DM?

Re: Lore Assistance
Here ya go Aik,
Power of Faerun
and another if you have another further question about the deities,
Faiths and Pantheons
Ao is an overdiety, and the creator of Abeir-Toril. I wouldn't say he is a part of it although he the creator. So when you ask what are the oldest deities OF Toril, that would be Selune and Shar.
Very little is known about Ao, or the God above him. It is rumored that The God above him is supposedly the DM.
As for the Time of Troubles (ToT), you can google that on your own. There is much information on it and the major consequences that resulted.

Okay, here is a tricky question.
While they say that pregnancy and childbirth of elves is painless, what about drow?
