Three deep rolls of thunder can be heard throughout the Gate and the surrounding areas. Oddly, they come without any hint of rain or storm, and are alone in their booming presence.

Late last night very strange scenes took place around Baldur's Gate. Two elves, one who does not usually venture into the city but some might recognize her as Nai and another who is rarely seen but known as Rai, are walking around the city carying what looks like an armful of fish and potions. They stop here and there, chopping up the fish into small edible pieces and pour cure disease potions over the "food". Once done they call out to the cats trying to attract them to the fish.

Edmund, on visit to town and wandering the street late night, and having no idea why there was fish in the streets and worried about the possible stink and mess they make took it upon himself to clean up all the fish bits he could find. He collected numerous bits of fish from the streets, while a halfling he had been talking to watched, glad someone else was willing to touch the smelly mess.
He then went around tossing the fish bits to all the local cats he could find in the streets, to put what he perceived as litter to good use, not realizing he was accidentally helping the initial intent.

Rumor spreads through the city that a priest of Lathander have returned to the temporary shrine to Lathander in the Palace District. Healing and aid against the plague will be offered at the shrine to as many as the priest is capable of aiding.

In the dead of night, a few parchments appear posted in Baldur's Gate. There are not many, as hand written, and upon some examples, it seems ink was running thin.

During the day, several posters are put up in noticeable places throughout the city of Baldur's Gate by a priest of Lathander wearing a golden-trimmed white robe.

*A post on the bulletin board*
To all adventurers that regularily scour the sewers. A high reward is offered for the still moving body of an undead rat or rats recently seen in the sewers, for research. Leave a letter at the Shelf of Many books for Cara if successful. By no means should you take it to the surface, merely store it in the sewers then inquire for the reward.

Just outside the gates in the northern farmlands, an envoy from Darkhold was halted by the guards and a group of adventurers. Strangely, the adventures seemed to think they had more authority than the Flaming Fist Lieutenant present. After a short exchange, a letter was given to the guards to be delivered to the dukes.

A certain sorceress would frown deeply as she hears news of the 'envoy' from Darkhold. "Envoy... ha." She would snort at the one who relayed the news to her and go on to explain that Tegeus, Ameris and herself had been following the white wyrm seen flying over the city, to Ulgoth's Beard. When the dragon flew away, the 'envoy' were quite clearly preparing to attack their group. The sorceress goes on to say that she Teleported away from the encounter with Erza, Tegeus and Ameris but that a mage in the other group had traced it and the 'envoy' had followed them to the gate in the Northern Farmlands.
The Flaming Fist, she clarifies, allowed the masked men to approach the gate without asking them to reveal their faces. A Dread Lord of Darkhold wandered right up to the gate and stood beside the Fist and even if identified, the Fist told them to simply leave.
"How in the nine does a group of masked men, trying to kill those who cured so many in the docks the other day, become an envoy on diplomatic mission..? Smooth tongues, that is how."

Scribbled on the bottom of a few in the East Gate District:
"About bloody well time! We could use the help! Smoochies from Ilmater."

Amidst the plague and chaos of the Gate's harbour district, a few less-than-savoury types and ne'er-do-wells still manage to make their coin through any means they can.
Somewhere in the plague-ridden docks, an abandoned house was broken into by a lonely burglar and a troupe of thieves not far behind her. Swiftly she entered, and left with riches and something else in hand. . .
The house was shortly set alight from within, the criminal activity within soon dispersed, and the solitary burglar slipped off with reward in hand and a smile upon her face.

Despite the raging epidemic in the harbor district, the occasional flicker in the shadows might still be seen now and again.
Glinting eyes under a night black hood peer shrewdly over a mask towards the smoke seeping from the windows of the newly torched house. The silent figure receding into his shadowy perch scans the surrounding streets watchfully, albeit perhaps too late to view any potential arsonists responsible for such a blaze.
The denizen of the docks continues to gaze over the streets, patiently and methodically, from his shadowed vantage point for some time thereafter. Waiting for those that would encroach on the denizens territory and attempt to take advantage of the already dreadful situation, while whispering a silent oath...
"We will be watching..."

As the storm unleashes itself upon the Gate, one poster hung days ago near the Blushing Mermaid, is found with a roughly written edit. As far as any would or could say, this is the only example found...and some consider it a message to those inside the establishment...
...
or those few that were once recently there.

In the late night outside of Baldur's Gate, a wagon comes to a halt. From the caravan steps out the heavy foot of a armored woman, her white gloved left hand passing a small bag of coin to the wagon man for her fare.
She strides quickly through the front gate, pausing only to ask a Flaming Fist guard to which way she may find the temple of Tyr's service. Her black gloved right hand stroking her chin as she's granted direction, and her accented thanks carrying a dignified tone that still speaks of her now leagues away home, Cormyr.
Breaching the doors to the church, she quietly grants a letter to the priest at the fore. Her sedated mannerism and quiet smile unflinching as she kneels at the altar before Tyr, and begins prayer.
She quietly awaits the attentions of the Church, her letter a formally penned explanation of her coming.
Brothers and Sisters,
My name is Edith Devonroe, of Cormyr. I've come in this time of need to help as I may. As I understand, a plague has given way to lawlessness and chaos within the city. I eagerly await a more formal introduction, and direction in aiding the restoration of law, order, and mercy to your people.
In the name of The Just.
Her time until such a meeting can occur is spent quickly acquiring polish, a whet stone and attempting to obtain a very, very thorough tome of local law in Baldur's Gate.
