How about a little curio shop that sells weird things like a few monk items and other knickknacks but not a dedicated monk emporium?

Thought the auctionner was something like that.

Auctioneer is set as Genie's Wish. Freelancer trading guild that brings the items you need for immense prices. Which it actually does.

What I think we need. . or at least could do, is to put more merchants in the bazaar. Maybe not a monk shop on it's own, but the wares spread out in the bazaar, so the player could go item hunting. =)

It would probably be a bit much to ask if it was possible to randomize the wares, so one had to do this, and in game terms, would probably be very little fun.

But still. More merchants and stalls around the bazaar with all sorts of wares. Bring the surfacers down to shop till they drop. . .

Or better so, get the pricing right (for items such as mithral full plate etc.) and get a random items trader. The stock would change at a random time past the reset within 8 hours timespan, so there is no merchant rush happening first thing after.

A fair point about merchants. There are lots of NPCs that do absolutely nothing, even though they are called traders or merchants.

However, the thing is, the point of shops is supplying Underdark players with needed things without relying on surface or looting frenzy, not for Sshamath to become tourist spot for every surfacer.

It could be possible to close some of most valuable of the shops from surfacer races just like troll hide quest is closed for half-orcs... While controversial method, it may kick down a notch an uppity behavior of visitors.

Ways of Lolth, her tenets are set as chaotic murderous schemes for personal gain. There is no law in her ways. In fact, her ways say to betray, to kill in her name, seize power, conquer, etc

Hehehe what if this is upheld by attacking the faith and temple of lolth herself , for personal gain ?

Monks aren't exclusive to the Faith of Lolth, so I'm a bit confused as to why no one has brought for the argument that Selvetarm is viable for monk followers. Just as Svifnerblins or duergars, or any other UD race that frequents Sshamath, could have monks.

It's a city of trade, not a city of trade-reserved-only-for-chaotic-evil-drow. I don't see any reason why a chaotic evil drow merchant wouldn't acquire monk gear if that could give said merchant an edge in the competition.




Personally, I would quite enjoy to see a traditionel Lolthite setting, but I understand why that's hard to incorporate in an environment that's already starved for players and have to cater to a multitude of potential different races.

Actually, this is what my character, Nawiel is aiming for. For S'shamath to be a grand bazaar and hub of exotic trade. Granted, it is in hope of bettering relations and perspective, which is unrealistic to say the least, but it is a goal. And I think it would sitt well with the trade that S'shamath is said to live on.

I see A LOT of female drow who think they live menzobarren. In Sshamath wizard are the ruling class, not matrons. Female drows being openly disrepectful to male faerns will be dealt with extreme prejudice.
Remember in Sshamth, the city ruled by wizards, where the priestesses of Lolth are shunted into lesser roles.
Acting superior and treating my drow wizard poorly might get you melted.

The thing is, when new player enters the city, nothing in it shows that it is different from other cities. So, in ignorance, they think it is the same and try to RP the most familiar thing. It does not help that they are easily melded by the players who want Underdark housing Lolthite-exclusive power. For Helm's sake, there is only one temple in city when there must be two!

That is unfortunate and I am not unreasonable, I will give fair warning to any female drow who isn't a faern acting superior, however if the behavior continues after that I will do the right thing or die trying. Of course I wouldn't be foolish enough to attack inside the city, the conclave would not like violence inside the city disrupting trade. If I happen across them outside the city fighting some monsters maybe someone attacks them or the monster they are fighting suddenly becomes stronger.... I can be creative. The most important rule in drow society is there is no crime if their is no witness.

Now let's get to the big, shiny variation in canon lore this server has:

Lolth's avatar descends during the fight to save the city, destroying the artifact weapon the alhoon wrought to destroy sshamath with, causing thousands to convert to the goddess despite the conclave's control on religion.

There is a female ulathallar amongst the conclave as well, so much for "shunted into lesser roles". And in the last events ran by wretch (too bad that his/her internet connection has been busted), the conclave was only barely capable of maintaining order, when pitted against hundreds and hundreds of frenzied, blood crazed, fanatical worshippers of lolth.

Heck, two elite drow assassins even wasted a whole patrol of the Charnag Maelthra, much to my blackguard of lolth's amusement (what lolthite would not rejoice in chaos and anarchy spreading in an otherwise dull and boring city?)

Some UD players don't like it? Well, just too bad, they have to take server lore and setting into account and just live with it.

I was gone for over a year I didn't realize they were destroying the only
Unique drow city on any server I have ever played. I will play my wizard as a superior to any non faern female because frankly he is for now.

And when and if they allow Sshamth to become a copy of all the other drow cities I guess I will stick to the tunnels or just to the surface.

Also I checked the DM rumors of Sshamath and don't see anything about a return to LLothite society....
