I am beginning to understand why I was assigned to this area. As well as learning my own strengths and more importantly my own weaknesses. Such an odd day. Again I was traveling South towards the Friendly Arms Inn, on the tradeway just North of there I came across several people, 6 or 7 of them, just standing in the middle of the road. As I passed them they went silent. So I stopped and listened, waiting to see if anyone was in trouble. Not much was said while I stood there. Although I could tell there were some whispers being said, I could not make out what it was. I waited ample time for any who was in trouible to call out. None did so I continued on my way.
Then as I entered the FAI area I was told of a member of the Dead crows. His Name Thom. Would not be wise to put into writing as to where this information came from. So I will keep that to myself. This I will keep for future reference. As I continued further into the area I was flagged down by Cienne. We exchanged pleasantries, and began to talk of various things. Then out of nowhere a badger came up to us, carrying a small pouch. The badger seemed quite tame, dropped the bag at our feet then scurried off into the woods. Turns out the bag contain three potions 2 that were recognisable, and one that wasnt. Not sure why this badger came to us with these potions, perhaps just a fluke.
But Cienne and myself were discussing rumors about the area and the conversation turned towards the Erlkazar. Cienne said she had heard the same rumors as I. So we decided to talk to Bentley, Owner of the Friendly Arms Inn, to see if he had seen the man.
When we entered there was a quite flambouyant man standing next to a woman at the Bar. As I approached Bently I overheard the woman call the man Erlky. Perhaps I discounted the earlier rumors to quickly. I asked him if his name was Erlkazar Thornwood, to which he freely acknowledged. From this we carried on a quite extensive conversation from which I learned several things.
First, Erlkazar had been hired by a Baron Riordran of Llorbauth, to find the "Everwatch Eye".
Second, The "Everwatch Eye " protected Hastral from the Shadow Conspiracy a thousand years ago.
Thirdly, The "Everwatch Eye" was a piece to a larger Dais in the House of Vigilance. But when Hastarl, of Anthalanthar was sacked, it was lost until 500 years later when it was seen in the possession of Oren the Mage.
This is where he has his latest clues. We agreed to help him with his search. I also inform him that the High Priests of Helm could be quite generous for such an item of importance to Helmite history. But Erlkazar seemed more concerned with the glory of finding it. I acknowledged that credit would obviously be given where credit is due. Which seemed to please him.
I am forwarding a copy of this entry to the High Priests of Helm in Tsurlagol, for their information.
Funny how all the sudden all these artifacts seem to be showing up all at once. It does make one wonder.

Today I found out the names of the two that interjected themselves into this quest. Awrnette and Anglo. I already was suspicious of this Anglo. It was earlier that day, Anglo intentionally bumped into me in Baldur's Gate, without a word of apology. At the time I let it go without confronting him. Just chalking it up to a poor upraising by his parents. But now, from what I learned he probably pickpocketed me. Awrnette, I know little of, other than her will is weak and falls into many traps of the wicked. Easily persuaded by those who would use her to their own ends.
You see, Anglo and Awrnette are both part of Desrah's crew of Pirates. Poor, poor, Desrah, has she fallen so, that this is now what she has become? And what does it say about her wisdom and intellegence that she would hire these two? Especially this bumbling inept called Anglo. I now know of their intentions, to steal what they can find at our expense. This I will inform Erlkazar of. They cannot be allowed to join this expedition.
I also learned that Head Watchknight Sveta Asperan also has interest in this quest. Even though her faith in Helm's Strength is subject to question, in my opinion, I cannot refuse her participation. She may well be of good use. Besides she is Helmite, and still is a valuable ally. Perhaps when shown what strong faith in Helm can accomplish, she will aspire to it as well.
As always, I am forwarding a copy of this journal entry to the High Priests of Helm in Tsurlagol.

A while back I sent a missive to the High Priests of Helm. Informing them of the rumors of the "Everwatch Eye" artifact. The missive included all the information I had so far on the artifact. I requested any and all information they could gather on this important piece of Helm history. Their reply was that I should leave no stone unturned in finding this Artifact. They also impressed the importance of retrieval of the "Everwatch Eye".
So after much reflection, I decided to extend a olive branch, so to speak , to Watcher Sveta of the House of the Guardian in Nashkel. I asked for her assistance, and included a copy of the High Priests missive along with the request. I thought this might be a good way to redeem and renew her faith in the Strength of Helm. Perhaps that is a bit strong, I believe she does have faith in Helm. But my intent was that of trying to mend the broken string of our past. After all we are of the Same faith, and I want to believe her intent is that of a follower of Helm.
But to my disappointment, after a ten day of waiting for a response, there has been none. I now understand her silence to be her answer. For whatever reason, she is not interested in finding this artifact for the Glory of the Faith of Helm.
And to further my distress, I have not seen Miss Cienne, for quite a while either. I fear now, I must take on the High Priests request myself, alone. Unless I can convince Sir Arkaine to accompany me. This I have not tried yet. I will leave a missive requesting a meeting with him in the morning.

Again my impatience betrays me. Today I received a response from Sveta. She expressed her interest in helping me, with finding the "Everwatch Eye". She wrote that she has been spending most of her time here in the city. Helping those that have been stricken with the sickness. To my own shame, I could have done more to help with this...pestilance? I believe that is what it could be called. Although its no excuse, With so many helping with this curse, it has left the roads a bit unpatroled. I have been trying to help with the patroling. Helping those in need I find along the way. If my gold wasnt running so low, for so long, I would have helped with supplies as well. But be that as it may, I am finally building my reserves back up.
I will send a missive to Sveta immediately and give her what information I have. We should meet in the temple soon, to resolve our next move.

It has been many a day since my last entry into my journal. Many things have come to pass and many left undone. After missing out on searching for the Everwatch Eye, I traveled back to Tsurlagol to regain focus. It is there I found the calling of the paladin, and trained to this end. If I am to be the Eye of the Vigilant I must have the credentials. So I trained and I learned.
Upon returning to Baldur's Gate I was met by Grand Master Arkaine. He asked me to accompany him with others to remove some Bhaalist from what appeared to be an asylum. Upon succeeding in this we returned to the city.
It is here I discovered after being gone so long Head Watchknight Sveta had set up shop in the Temple in Baldurs Gate. Which, after the explanation, I do understand.
After being back for nearly 6 weeks I saw an old familiar face, Wai Li. She was a sight for sore eyes. We spoke for a considerable time in the North Farmlands. She told me of the dire situation concerning the undead Hordes. Of which I had heard rumors of, but have never encountered.
Which I do find odd. Considering I travel the countryside quite extensively. Never once have I run acoss any of these hordes, save once before my last trip to Tsurlagol. I was beginning to wonder if rumors had been blown out of proportion. Wai Li assured me they hadn't. It was then Sveta joined us and we talked some more.
The result was Wai Li asked me to rejoin the Watchers for a time in this hour of need. I agreed, and agreed to honor Sveta's orders as my commander until the crisis is over. I had but one condition, of which they agreed too.
Since then I've seen neither, perhaps they are busy.
So, I travel the roads making sure they are safe. And still no signs of undead, for that matter I traveled all the way from Nashkel to Baldurs Gate with only one confrontation with a wild dog. It appears the roads are well patrolled these days.
So I spend my time praying, eating, sleeping and walking the roads, without much instance for alarm. And I await for contact with the Watchers and Sveta for orders.

Today Sveta and myself were summoned to the Temple of the Guardian in Nashkel. Well to be honest more Sveta than myself. Sveta was accompanied by Eleanor, her Squire. Eleanor is a follower of Torm. It seems Sveta has taken several into the watchers fold that aren't of the Helm faith.
After listening to them talk of the undead hordes I realise I am sadly under informed as to the state of things on the Sword Coast. It does not matter why, or why I've not been told things, the blame ultimately must be mine to bear.
It appears that this threat of undead is real. Even though I've not encountered any myself. Which is curious with as much time as I spend in the hills of the North. I was informed of Sveta's planned venture to help evacuate Scournubel Scornobel Scronabel? However its spelled and pronounced. But was unable join her.
I can only hope that information will, in the future, be more accessible .
The High Priest has agreed to commit several knights in helping with the defense of the coast. But also asked us to give our oaths to secure an old temple of Helm in the High Moors. Apparantly the undead have trespassed into these buried ruins in search of something. I suspect the High Priest knows what they were searching for, but is keeping it to himself for now. In any case, he wants the ruins secured and priests to inspect the ruins for anything that had been taken.
I will continue to search for these undead and do what I can to ensure the safety of the people of the Sword Coast.

The Battle for Baldurs Gate is done, and the Blight defeated. Magmire is on the run, let the Hunters hunt her down. My duty here is finished, as is my oath to Wai Li. The City has sustained significant damage, and the Compound of the Radiant Heart is but rubble. Not much left for me to do here. I have done what I have promised to Wai Li. I have endured under Sveta's command. Even though she never utilized my abilities, they were available to her at her will. I will no longer suffer the disrespect afforded to me by this “leader” of the Watch. Did I say disrespect? By this I mean the complete disregard of my position, and my abilities as a Paladin of Helm. But now I am free of my Oath to Wai Li. So this is no longer my problem.
Now, what to do next? I contacted Luke Darius about a matter of a sword I own. I suspect I shall wait to see what, if anything, comes of this. He seemed receptive but evasive on whether he can do what I asked. I will learn soon enough.
Clint contacted me about arranging a meeting with Wai Li. To discuss Sventar, a sword that Wai once wielded but now has bonded to Clint. I hold reservations on whether this is a good or bad thing. As Sventar was born from revenge. Perhaps Clint's influence shall dominate the swords will for vengeance. Therefore turning the sword towards good intentions. That is my hope. But Wai has agreed to meet with Clint, hopefully she will express the history of the sword to him. If he is unaware of it.
