Re: Lord Jan van Edelhof seeks Aides-De-Camp

Jan van Edelhof, fed up with his corpulant lifestyle at his ancestral home, has returned to the southern Sword Coast for a hunting trip. Once again he is looking for able-bodied servants and guards to enlist and guard his person. Jan's old list of servants employed along the southern Sword Coast remains intact. Though Lord Jan is likely to cross out the names of those who do not respond to this renewed call to arms.

///OOC: From the Red Field Guard I deduce that you are from the US. Being from the other side of the pond may I enquire at what times we might expect to see "Lord" Jan playing?

My times are GMT oriented, actually. You are most likely to see Lord Jan at 18:00 - 22:00 GMT during the weekends and between 12:00 - 16:00 GMT and 18:00 - 22:00 GMT during the weekdays, as of now.Thorsson wrote:///OOC: From the Red Field Guard I deduce that you are from the US. A small, dark Hin lady, wearing a fierce expression, stomps (insofar as a small Hin can stomp, but she makes a damn good try) into the Blade & Stars. "I hear there's a Lord a-hiring", she declares. "Tell him Durza, Blunt by name, and blunt by nature, is looking for gainful employ." "I shall be back later, I trust I shall find his Steward here", she says firmly, before spinning on her heel and marching back out.

Re: Lord Jan van Edelhof seeks Aides-De-Camp
Maximum levels was a great idea initially, allowing (read: forcing) characters to stick closer in actual level to one another, which made for some fun and challenging adventures. But I realise that a lot of players do want to continue to level up. So I've decided to remove the max. levels and instead exchanged them for minimum levels for specific ranks. Though no-one is getting promoted without their actual RP and serving time warranting it, don't you worry!
What matters most is the RP. While travelling through dangerous areas with a bunch of level 10's was great fun, levels shouldn't get in the way of RP too much. Is it then hypocritical to ask for minimum levels for certain positions in the Edelhof household? Well no... it is just practical. A level 2 guard captain leading a pair of level 25 guards, while funny, will probably seem a little odd and may lead to some technical impossibilities (unless he/she takes a deskjob
). Hence, higher positions will at least demand a bit higher experience. But don't worry, we're not going overboard on this.
Guardsman / woman ranks:
Rank: Recruit - Pay: 500gp - Min level: 1
Rank: Guard - Pay: 600gp - Min level: 5
Rank: Corporal - Pay: 700gp - Min level: 10
Rank: Sergeant - Pay: 800gp - Min level: 15
Rank: Lieutenant - Pay: 900gp - Min level: 20
Rank: Captain - Pay: 1000gp - Min level: 25
Court Equivalent:
Title: Steward - Pay: 800gp - Min level 15
Title: Squire - Pay: 900gp - Min Level 20
Title: Lord - Pay: ??? - Min Level 25 (in case of an appointed heir)

Moments later, after one of the chambergirls brought notice to Lord Jan's resident steward, a finely dressed gentleman came down the stairs of the Blade & Stars inn. The man is dressed in the Edelhof's regal colours, sporting a tabard in golden yellow and azure blue.Thorsson wrote:A small, dark Hin lady, wearing a fierce expression, stomps (insofar as a small Hin can stomp, but she makes a damn good try) into the Blade & Stars. "What is this commotion? Who is this 'Durza' that seeks employment? I haven't the time for petty social calls. This person had better return momentarily if serious about being employed in the Edelhof household here on the Sword Coast. I shall be waiting."

I think this was with Guard Jessie, Steward Zagasha, Recruit Dunwik, and Guard Ian. (correct me if I'm wrong)

"Cheeky blighter", thinks Durza when she hears of it. But then she reconsiders, "Mayhap these Lords have a different concept of time to the rest of us", and she makes her way back to the Inn...Ol' Kel wrote:Moments later, after one of the chambergirls brought notice to Lord Jan's resident steward, a finely dressed gentleman came down the stairs of the Blade & Stars inn. Hidden: show
On saturday the 8th of Uktar, Lord Jan van Edelhof will be receiving guests and those in search of employment at the current Edelhof House in Baldur's Gate, just down the street from the Elfsong tavern. All are welcome to attend this social call, as long as they adhere to the rules of the house:
-Formal attire mandatory
-No drunken rowdies
-No peddling of wares
His Lordship lets it be know that he is still in search of a capable doorguard for this social event, whom he will pay a fair sum in gold for his or her services. The job demands both physical strength and a keen eye.
His Lordship also pledges to donate one gold bar to the organisation present that can best suade his heart to their plight; as such Lord Jan expects a special address by the representatives of those organisations which have been invited. It is his Lordship's intent to strengthen social ties within the upper echelons of Baldurian life, and hopes to meet those whom consider themselves part of this society.
The date for this social event is subject to change, should it prove difficult to attend for a majority of invitees.

// 8th of Uktar is the 8th of November - the Event will be on the 8th at GMT 18:00 - 23:00

// Hello everyone! I am moving the social event to next weekend, as a lot of people can't make it or haven't responded yet. It was a little last notice, afterall. I'll post the exact day and time soon after I've had some responses.
