The elven scouts of Dharasha came to the High Moor. It was to be the last scouting attempt before they would would begin their mission, what they found was more than they had ever come to expect.
Led by Laisren, the tracker Mendel and the marksman Lomir set camp for the night in the early Moor. It was their expectation to use the day as their ally against the that vampire lay beyond. At dawn they picked up camp and prepared for their mission. Then a great cracking of the earth began, ghosts and dozens of dead poured forth from the ground and the party found itself soon surrounded.
Laisren and Mendel moved frantically, darting through the great horde, slashing and hacking as they went. They moved to keep the undead from their support, as Lomir fired off flaming arrows in a furious pace. Then came on a great hellish stead riding in with a giant shadow walker.
They seemed all but lost, until some divine force moved to heal them and they continued on with the raging battle till the giant shadow was purged and the stead laid at their feet. Still breathing heavily, Laisren ordered them retreat to the hill pass quickly when the ground once more began to crack. If they were to take on another horde, they would do so within the pass so not to be surrounded.
Just then, a giant serpent like being appeared. As the elves prepared themselves for their final confrontation. The Serpent bid them hold and began to speak to them in the common tongue. It admonished them to courage and skill, telling them they had passed it's people's test.
The elves continued to look at being with distrust. Finally, Laisren spoke and explained the elves were not to be used as pawns and where they few, more would follow to join them. The being spoke to this, saying it's people were also soon to come to these lands but not as of yet. Having proven their strength, the elves had dissuaded the creature and it's people for now.
Laisren asked the being of it's people, for which it responded it's people too were strong and would continue their motion. The elves look to each other and told the being then they would also prepare for the beings return, if peace could not reign. The being respected this and offered a permanent enchantment to their weapons, a gift for passing the test.
The elves refused this magic, having seen the beings powers taken from the dead. It offered it's respect and soon opened a giant gate leaving the elves to stare in wonder. They now return to their people and tell of yet another threat to prepare, but prepare they would, for their course was set and no evil beings would stop them from possible salvation.
