Re: Gladiators i salute you. (Continuing event and Open RP)
The same woman that was about to rob Pits Arena from money it collected on fights with tremendous lucky bets approached the Master of Pits, her leather eye-mask and pretty free (but not too risque) red dress with short skirt in tight sandals weaved around her bare legs glistening in bright light coming from them.
"Greetings again, charming poser of carnage." She spoke on Common of deep caverns. " I have come here as new sponsor for one of your contestants. I would like to talk about, hmm, possibilities that could be arranged for my champion to provide better entertainment for your shows."
\\OOC: I personally liked it, and I see reasons for some things. For example, I was not satisfied by distance of view, however that changed when I saw possibly dangerous monsters spellcasters. Lighting up could be nice or maybe monsters having Bright Light property items. I do not mind spaces, personally believing that places on balconies should be reserved at higher prices for some citizens.

Cal left the Arena with his pockets a little lighter. Yes the faern lost a bit of gold.., but watching the gladiator become favored by the crowd, only to then to be curshed and fall to the creatures of the Arena made it all worth it. Perhaps luck next time will be on his side.
((I honestly felt the event was very well done. Awesome work Absolution. Maybe I am just easy to please, but I don't see any reason to change anything.

((
The event was well-done, and the arena was certainly imposing, but it definitely did not appear to be designed with spectators in mind. If modifying it is not too great an undertaking, the fighting area could be shrunk (a little) and the seating could rise up in rows at say a 45 degree angle (possibly in a couple of tiers) more akin to a Roman amphitheater.
Regardless, your efforts were noteworthy and event was quite enjoyable.))
More ambient light would help. If the arena is in the open - perhaps in a pocket plane - why not make the skies something alien, like a dirty shade of orange? If the arena is in a cavern then simply add crystal formations as an ambient light source.Yeah i completely agree, i was actually going to do this before the event started, but i ran out of time and just had to hope the players could see the battles. But i will have one of the builders add some light. Either by making the whole area lighter, or more focused. Perhaps in the pit itself.

///Actually it sounds pretty convincing that it rests somewhere up in stalactites. Maybe there could be crystal floor like in Nexus, but with Sshamath's environs?
Well, excuse my mad ramblings...
I was wondering if sponsors of certain contestants could somehow give advantage in comparison to other loner contestants. Few potions before battle or something more...

IAmDeathComeForThee has made some changes to the arena to accommodate our wishes, personally i feel the new version gives a more drow feel to it. A bit less of your standard gladiator arena but more dark and in sync with drow architecture etc. See for yourself.

//I need 2 new contestants for the next round of arena matches, and this time i will do a bit better prep work. Learned a lot from the last try. So send me a PM with your character name/build and timezone you live in.

A dark cloaked figure approaches the ring leader, exchanging a few words in between. It offers a bag of many gold pieces in exchange for favorism to one of the contestants of their choice.

*A slender figure emerges from the shadows and approaches the master of the pit, her eyes void of emotion, she says only two words*
"Challenge accepted..."
*As she leaves her figure fades into the surroundings once again.*
She muses to hersef quietly... "May the blood of the heretics satisfy the hunger of malla Lolth."

TalonofWindspeak wrote:///Most gladiator type history you all wear gear (basic armor) and weapons which all the contestants choose from the arena armory, so as you pretty much have fairness or equality of the contestants. Will this be the case or are you allowed personal gear?
///I would be most interested in starting a new lvl 1 gladiator type PC, would wear possibly light or no armor, or if heavier, basic garish style armor, breastplates, banded mail and such, fighting with a range of gladiator type weapons - if anyone is interested in this give me a shout and we can spar - train to get things ready for the Pit
Can mages enter and cast spells? If so I think taking away fighters gear just gimps any melee or ranged build right there... mages can just pop in.. invis, ward up, everyone dies. I don't think its right to not allow warriors the magic stuff that makes them warriors.. if wizards are allowed in the arena.

They get rather decent gladiators gear from me, it is non magical but made from the best metals. (Mithral armor and Adamantine weapons) Though they have to hand these items back afterwards. And i should mention that they get to keep Belt, rings, amulets.narcaleptic wrote:

While on caster i am thinking of rendering them with -only- gladiator gear.
If you have any suggestions that can make it harder for casters then i would love to hear suggestions.

Re: Gladiators i salute you. (Continuing event and Open RP)
Well, you could introduce random anti-magic effect (spell failure) of varying power throughout the area. Its existence could easily be explained via the use of faerzress. An added difficulty feature by the designers of the gladiatorial games.
