Is this a trick question? The alphabet has letters not numbers! That said, my favourite letter is, of course, "Q"

I'm leaving on vacation until the 11th at a cabin in the woods so there is no internet and no game for me for a week. See all y'all when I get back.

Ah, a fan of the Wii game, "The Conduit" I see... :) Honoured to have a 4chan fan PM me :D

The woods were great, although to be truthful it is more like the resort from the movie "Dirty Dancing" - only saw skunks, racoons, squirrels and chipmunks though... oh, and about 200 party animals ;) Played in a rockin Settlers of Catan tourney with a buddy who had Wil Wheaton sign a copy of his game, and played my guitar until my fingers ached at marathon campfires that went until the wee hours of the morning. Oh, and I found out that there were a pile of Moddlefoddle Gnomes there as well, who loved BACON! and cookies... YAY!

I was asked in game recently by some players what resources are out there about the Underdark that would prove helpful in terms of lore, and character building. There is a GREAT deal of information out there that has some UD content and lore in it, and if you are new to the world of the Forgotten Realms (and like to read... a lot...) I would start here:

The Dark Elf Trilogy by RA Salvatore (Wizards of the Coast) will introduce you to Drow society and the journey or one famous Drow elf.
Next read the Legacy of the Drow series (four books) again by Salvatore.
Follow this by the six book series, War of The Spider Queen, different authors - really outstanding series.

There is a boxed set put out, Menzoberranzan, that has maps, and history behind that city and Douglas Niles has a couple of good rederence books out too that will give you an idea of Drow society, hierarchy, and history: Book One: The City, Book Two: The Houses, Book Three: The Adventure.

Vault of the Drow, and Queen of the Demonweb Pits are Greyhawk modules that also shed some light on Drow elves and society, but are not as in-depth (but are a lot of fun to play if you are a PnP DnDer.)

Elaine Cunningham also has written some fantastic books on Drow in her Straight and Shadows trilogy (there is a Drow Arch-Mage and Arch-Lich in these ones for you epic Drow players wondering what to do with phenomenal cosmic powers... :) )

You can pick these up at your local big bookstore, small corner second hand store (my favourite) or on line at the big realtors for books. If you live anywhere they have a GenCon you can also find loads of these older and out of print texts there.

I also have handy at my computer a quick reference sheet of the most common Drow words (although I messed it up a few weeks back when I meant to call a player "male" and instead called him "Dwarf" but the effect was the same ;) ) If you really want to go all-out:

http://www.grey-company.org/Maerdyn/res ... guage.html

is a great resource for Drow language and translations.

OK best advice I can give if you want to learn more about the UD, aside from reading about it, is start a character and interract with others. Levelling is a little slower than surface characters in some cases, but the RP here is really great and worth it, I think.

Why is that lootbag stuck in a secret door and what is in it?

Should I try to open a fencing school as a character with little knowledge of irl sword combat?

The Iron Throne is really not heard of until DR 1356 and is more of a merchant organization rather than a para-military one, although they do get charged with attempted assassinations, extortion, thuggery, trading weapons to hostile nonhuman tribes and trafficking in smoke powder, poisons and drugs. It is my understanding from the original BG game that they wanted to have a monopoly on iron trade and supply. The real reason they want to do this is to start a war between BG and Amn and make a fortune selling ore to both sides, and in DR 1368 they almost succeed in doing this but were foiled.

You can read about it: Philip Athans (July 1999). Baldur's Gate (Mass Market Paperback). Wizards of the Coast. ISBN 978-0786915255.

"Why is that lootbag stuck in a secret door and what is in it?" Is this in reference to Divinity - Dragon Commander where you have to find a loot bag behind a secret door, but sometimes the walkmesh makes it look like it is in the door...?

I love the idea of a fencing school, especially if you as a player have some IRL knowledge about fencing. I think that you could RP around the game dynamics too (i.e. you could train Finess in light swords, be a Swashbucklers training centre, etc.) You could probably have a lot of fun RPing this and would attract some flamboyant charcters (I'm thinking like the Three Muskateers.)

I say, run with it.

Thanks - there is a lot of material out there and I know lots of players here who would be glad to share where to find good information.
