Skip pregnancy all together, nobody wants to RP with a preggo because it's just awkward.
EDIT: And how many of the people who want to RP as Preggos are guys IRL? Weird man, weird.
Sounds like a personal attack that shouldn't be on bgtscc.
I agree. Pregnancy is a personal attack.
(Also, the preggars should have an alignment shift towards chaotic, reduced CON, +8 waddling, -4 dex, forced to roll dice at least once per four hours... multiples of 4 mean the preggar must bite off the nearest man's face, -4 appraise when purchasing armor (increased cost due to belly and food intake), be barred for PvP for obvious reasons, avoid contact with all PCs and NPCs due to risk of death and RL-preggar-sensitivity and PG13 limitations... which pretty much limits you to being silent in a room alone, in an inn... which is pretty freakin' OOC... which then leads to the question: "Why... just... why...?").
/end.

I think I know of 4? characters who have roleplayed pregnancies. A couple more than that have roleplayed having children, who are not following them around at all times but are kept -safe- in a house or village or such. Seeing how it has already been done and no issues have arisen...? I do not really have a problem with it.
Though I do expect anyone to RP the full pregnancy term and not take any "fast forward" short cuts.

Seriously...
Try to chill a bit?
Pregnancy or not.. considering some of the replies here I gather some of us actually spend an hour or so texting that their toon brush their teeth what not ingame before hitting the rest button.
Kids are usually a part of life remember?
Lets rule out death, its really not something to joke about (unless you like to whistle).
Peace

Stuff happens. Some men man-up and be responsible. Others run away.
Anyway, I recommend an open OOC-dialog between the PCs' players about the whole romance thing. Some are able to compartmentalize better than others.
As others mentioned, taking the mommy track is a very viable way for woman PCs to retire.
Last, in my experience, players rarely stick around long enough to form any lasting (3+mon) IC relationships, much less RP a possible result of a fade-to-black event.

As for male characters: "I am a dad know." And well, becoming a dad, with a stabble income, respectable profession, etc also works as a way to retire.

“Contrary to whatever you might have heard in songs and stories, there are only a few productive things a man can do once he picks up a sword.
“He can put it to use for his country, if he’s got any pride. He can use it to defend his loved ones, if he’s got any. And if he’s got any intelligence at all, he can put it down.
“For those who are lacking all three, the only viable option is to embrace that meanest and most disrespected of professions: adventuring. Falling somewhere just below the rank of mercenary and just above the classification of scum, adventurers are chiefly a source of cheap labor, providing with violence and misfortune what they lack in standards.
“And I count myself among the cheapest.
“Amongst my allies I count a murderer, a zealot, a heretic, a savage and a monster. Amongst my problems I count demons that shouldn’t exist, pirates with a loquaciously murderous bent, a society that wouldn’t care if I was rotting in the earth and my allies. Amongst my dreams…
“I count survival.
“I’ll get to the others after that one’s taken care of.”
as written by Sam Sykes, author of Tome of the Undergates.
A nice moment in life to raise a family?
A little secret, it is what it is and will be what it will be.
The average adventurer, paladin, trader and most of what else we play as our toons cannot possibly ever become role models of the modern family (western democracy style).
These are people who wantonly spend 100.000 of coin on fancies like swords, boots and potions.
These wretched souls are even known to be so poor due to their lust for trinkets that they rather sit in the rain around a smoky fireplace for days than afford to spend a copper or two at the homely inn on the other side of the muddy road.
Not very trustworthy gents and ladies if you ask me.
But I agree, starting a family is one way of retiring a toon without going out in flames of glory or infamy.
Some feisty wenches are known to linger on doing their thing despite the brood they so graciously have set upon the Sword Coast and its underdark.
I thank them for it and wish the one im thinking about a good smoke and a handsome pirate or two to not hit in the face.
Peace
