It's a dragon. All dragons have those innately. Also has 26 SR although you can bump that to 40 with the spell.

15 DR is not standard NWN2 Dragonpet stats and (living) Dragons are Sneak Immune, not crit immune. There's a difference.

Dang it! You're right - it was Sneak Immune and the DR was from stoneskin (10DR). Still, this is a very capable 'pet'!

Wow, I did not expect that such discussion will develop :)

Referring to "dragon" pet, I would like to ask you is it worth to take 2 feats for it. The NWN2 WIKI says that many buffs do not work on the dragon because it is not consider as "animal":

"Overall, the dragon is an improvement, but not much of one. Most importantly, Greater Magic Fang, Jagged Tooth, and Nature's Avatar do NOT work since the new pet is not considered an "animal".

Then how it is possible to achieve such stats like below???
Let's not forget their best pve tool - an animal companion that has 60+ AC, 50+ AB, 15DR, 40SR, Multi attack, crit immune and (at times) 900 HP. Pretty handy.

Thanks for the link, but do read up on the very cool lore of the druid class. If all you want is power, druid will bore you fast. Nothing outside a Dm will ever be able to kill a druid on this server. Which grows boring as -Tetris- real fast.

The coolness lies with druid lore and behaviour (RP). As a small example: Your companion dies -after- you die. Whatever creature you choose for Rp will be so insanly strong on BG server, letting it die even -once- is a disgrace to the druid class. (it is that strong, on all levels)

Hence a nice challenge for druid players, do not ever, even in DM events, let your companion die. The consequences for a druid in lore are much more severe compared to a respawn. ;)

However, If they do die, and for the sake of RP, you can say your companion ran away before getting "killed". Then you don't have to deal with the awkwardness of respawning him again. Or even pc's when they "die" in an event, and I know some DM's will do this as well, saying they were "knocked unconscious" instead of "dead" each time. :) But for sure you should try and keep him "alive" to the best of your abilities. :)

Agreed, Lisa. A good way to prevent your companion from dying is unssummmoning it and Rp-ing it to flee. ;)

Well, one of my pet peeves is players not appreciating character power. Tell me, how does one get the above killed without just running through areas and looting/grinding? Be aware, this is the pet companion of a druid with spells like "Heal", "Regenerate" "vigor" and what not, which all stack, and not to mention the result of a druid build with far from max Umd.

So how does this die? Apart from a DM spawning enemies. The only thing present I can think of, that this companion will not rip a new *-Hole run by a good player, is the white dragon.

Take note, the above screen is not even a druid companion with maxed out wards, nor is it a maxed companion choice.
Don't forget: This is a druids -Sidekick- Or in orther words. the druid itself is at least, or even more so, Powerful.

Hm. I should have taken Dragon Companion.

That's not needed I would say, all companions have certain traits, and there are feats which can be picked up to make them stronger as long as you stay pure druid.

Don't think the companion will be strong without using near half your spellbook to make it that strong though.

On the other hand, I've seen posts where druid players make a point where it takes to long to kill creatures. But then, my advice in those matters is:

Don't fill all your 9th slots with high damage Storms of Vengeance, yet, get some spell slot gear, and make sure your companion is able to fight like a lvl 30 fighter (at 30). True as some player told me, this obviously doesn't work well in Pvp. But Pve, it's insane. Get creative, try out what can and cannot be done with your companion alone, and tweak your spells to make the most out of the druid you play as a charachter, and the companion that is really strong.

It takes some trying out, but once you get to that niche where all spells work for both of you, you will be unstoppable PvE.

Try out what is possible not to have in your book buy buying scrolls. A mear mage armor scroll costs nothing. And while it does not add +6 to your companions armour, a nice +4 is still very good.

Point being: Playing druid is quite Balanced as it is, even per lore. They are powerful, as are their companions. Yet, playing druid while intending to rule the world, will never work. The entire class is built around support, and survival. If you really want to shine in fights, you figure out the way to keep not only your companion alive, but your party as well.

If, in an event, you and your pet are still alive, and the rest is dead? (whether it be by sending off your pet, or keeping it alive), at that point, you understand what druid combat is like. Killing things, whatever it is, isn't the point of playing druid anyway.

That's what makes them so scary. ;)

Druid has one trait that most other classes that cast have not: They can walk around with a tweaked spell book, tried and tested, and make that work in almost all situations. So you get in to an event?"The Dm spawns something strong? Before knowing what is up, you already know it matters not.

Your entire spellbook, including usables, spells, and whatever you can think of that would keep you alive no matter what, Is always ready. All day long, 24/7

In lore, there's a reason Druids don't need anything, and can threaten anyone they want. And it's very well implemented in Nwn2.

:D

So try your spells, test your companion, and see what works best to keep both alive, and still go strong. Because the last thing you want, is see your companion die. Whih not only sucks because you just now lost your level * fighter, but it's also BS in lore. And if it dies, you'll die soon as well.

For all that like druids, perhaps read how much effort it takes to gain (or regain) a companion.

Druids are loners, and no one gets them. A populair name for them is hippy. So the challenge is to show that you are not. Think about what you Rp, apart from saying you like trees.

A true druid will laugh at some charachter calling him a hippy. And next round, he'll either be dead, or running.

"Idiocy is not appreciated by the wise. I'll protect the land in my own way, and if fools decide to make changes because of politics, I will watch, and survive, to see them die of age. I have time, I am druid, and the magic of druids will be kept safe. We will bide our time, while man thinks to rule the world.

I simply appreciate living in it, I was born to appreciate the land. Whether a desert or tropical land, the arctic or mountains. The land talks to me to survive, I will be fine, and cherish what I am offered.

The linked thread has been archived. Most of the relevant information therein can be found under the Custom Changes and General Server Rules threads.

This topic is also two years old. For very old topics, some of the original posters may not be around anymore, and there may have been changes between then and now that can make mechanical advice given here inaccurate. I suggest raising a new topic to ask the question as opposed to reviving a very old one.
