I'm not sure why it took so long for me to sign up for this... but I think it's high time I did. Any critique on my rp would be welcome. ;)

So....has anyone gotten feedback yet? I haven't. Is this supposed to be done in PMs, or what?

I've decided that I'm not going to patiently wait. What do you people think about:

1. Seril
2. Boric Smethel

I feel pretty good about my other characters, but those two leave me a little unsure if I'm doing things properly.

The whole concept behind Seril is to have a hin that is almost completely contrary to what people expect. Instead of being kind, friendly, and generally chirpy; Seril is loud, obnoxious, wildly violent, a loner, and a sadist.

My biggest problem with Seril is grouping. Ordinarily, Seril recklessly picks fights and yells at anyone who even looks at him wrong (unless it's been proven that a person could easily trounce Seril--and even then, it's 50-50). He doesn't make friends very easily. Since grouping makes everything more enjoyable, I often find myself compromising Seril's RP for the sake of furthering RP with the party. It feels...dirty. Any tips?

As for Boric, I've been RPing that part of his warlock pact is the giver of his powers (he's not sure exactly who, except that it has a female voice) is in constant communication with him. This has led to him being rather crazy, listening to the constant whispers of his "partner." My question is, is it god-moding for me to assume control of a power and whisper from my power to myself?

A typical scenario with Boric involves him talking to someone, then *looks to the sky/left/right/down/behind,* has a quick conversation with his power, then goes back to speaking with the other PC. Often the power suggests for him to do something, or he yells at the power over a misunderstanding.

Any tips/critiques would be much appreciated. As for the last two posters above me, I'm not sure what encounters we may have had. Sorry!

Well you could RP that the Whispers are effects of the Otherworldy whispers invocation.

As for you issue with Seril I think almost every one with a Evil character has that issue, or least I've had it too with Evil characters.

Thanks, but Boric doesn't use Otherwordly Whispers. It's a part of the deal Boric made, that he is *constantly* accompanied. By himself, Boric is a weak crybaby with a petty streak (as seen by a lot of other PCs when Boric starts sobbing), but his Power is more the cold, ruthless, "I'll blast your ass then light my cigarette on your smoldering corpse" type.

Would anyone take offense to me RPing my own god? That's basically how I see it. It'd be like a cleric claiming that Helm speaks directly to them, and have conversations with him all the time.

07Paul87: Since you asked for it, im going to give you my honest critique. I hope you won't be offended, this is what "you" asked for.

As for your RP, its pretty good if we are talking. You make a believable character who I can have discussions with. I have noticed that when not in a "talking" situation, you tend to be unresponsive, but that could easily be that you aren't a super fast typer.

I can't speak for your characters themselves, but I was a bit frustraited with you as a player because you got knocked into the negatives by a Flaming Fist, and then when Abby RPed stabalizing you without reviving you, you refused to RP that you were unconcious. When I asked you why in a tell, you replied: "Unconcious is boring." The fact that you were completely unwilling to comply with a source rule straight out of the player's handbook, i.e... getting sent into the negatives makes you unconcious until being brought into the positives, makes me feel you will refuse to RP any situation which you don't find favorable to you as a player. You then went OOC and started complaining about how it wasn't fair that the Fist could do whatever they wanted without any reprocussions. Yet if you'd RPed the scene and let the chips fall where they should have, Abby would have had more ammo to use against certain members of the Fist... in order to bring IC reprocussions to the Fist.

What you should do is suspend knowledge that you're playing a game and treat all situations as though they are actually happening. Rather than complaining about how unfair it is OOC... complain IC... and then do something about it IC. But most important. Don't ignore source rules. Don't refuse to be unconcious when you are knocked into the negatives. Source is the foundation which all immersion rests. It is our physics. If you ignore it, I can't RP with you because I never know that you will react within those physics.

What could have been a good and productive scene turned into a massive immersion killer for those of us trying to RP with you.

Later, a noob made an intimidate check on you, and you failed by 1. After that you only became more combative and began to taunt the fellow, showing no indication that you had been intimidated whatsoever. When I asked why you weren't giving him the benifit of beating your Wisdom save with his intimidate which he had put ranks into, you replied that you had a low wisdom. Which of couse just means you "should" be more prone to cowardice and more likely to be intimidated.... being dense does not make you fearless.

Remember that people invest ranks into these things, and in order to do so, they have to sacrifice combat ability. They are taking a PvP hit in order to be able to develop persuasive abilities. If you ignore them, you take away their value and enforce the idea that only combat builds are viable characters.

Anyway thats my constructive crtitism. I hope it helps (And I hope I didnt get you mixed up with someone else.)

No offense taken, and I did ask for it. I believe that I have forgotten some situations, or there may be some confusion (I forget *a lot* of RP, so please bear with me)

The Fist incident with the Calamshan; this is the only encounter I really remember clearly, especially since it only happened about a week ago. From what I recall, Seril was told to stop by the Fist because he insulted them to an ambassador. Fair enough. Seril continued his antics primarily because *he thought he had made a powerful friend.* Seril believed that his life might change for the better. He was also under the impression that the ambassador may be some kind of demon.

As far as the KO, I'm a little fuzzy on it. Was this during the same scenario? I don't remember a KO, but if you healed me, I took that to mean I was recovered. More than likely, I got over-excited and took too much liberty with it.

For the intimidate check, I don't remember this one at all. I ordinarily take RP rolls like that into consideration. If I didn't, then I'm a douche and again, I apologize profusely.

I'm not trying to defend myself so much as clarify/provide some insight into what I was thinking, whether it was wrong or right.

I appreciate the honest look at my RP, and hold no misgivings about you Laurk. I'll be sure to carefully consider my actions if presented with similar situations in the future.

Anything else, people of BG? I'm wide open, and I promise not to gong-sau over my e-peen.

I like you, Laurk. Firm and fair. Please, do one on Helga if you ever see her.

Anyone else, too, we could all use an extra few ranks in the RP skill, no matter how many we already have.

Firm, fair and horrible with names! That wasn't you at all! It was a differant character whose name I will leave out because he didn't ask for my critique! Crap! For whatever reason, I was thining it was Seril. Now I feel horrible!

As for the scene with the Abasador from Calimsham, I thought that was a bit much, though you did have good reasoning, believing your newfound friendship would lend you diplomatic immunity in this case. Though that is a pretty big gamble if it were the real world. The Flaming Fist don't seem the type to go easy on transgressors. Still, I dont have tons of a experiance with your characters but you always seem to have reasoning for your actions, and who can ask for more?
