My thoughts......Passiflora wrote:Bran, Rickon, Sansa, Arya, and maybe Jon Snow who'll be raised by Melisandre!Maverick 40 wrote:You forget about Bran and Ricon(spelling?)Nachti wrote:any stark left?
*Disclaimer: have not read the books, so my opinion might miss crucial facts in the interest of full disclosure*
Sansa, maybe? (but what good is she to anyone, sorry but true)
Arya, yes. (but blind and now basically in bondage to the god of Death *Whitewalker God?*)
Jon Snow, maybe raised? (but by whom, might not necessarily be Melisandre, whose powers included visions which now must be called into question! Remember, it was Thoros of Myr whom was granted the power of returning life and that was only to one man *whom he loved as his brother*. So, there is no promise about Jon being raised by Melisandre, or the Red God at all

Re: New Game of Thrones episode (SPOILERS)
erm Melisandre might have been wrong in her visions and her presumption that Stannis is Azor Ahai but don't forget about the shadow she gave birth to which killed Renley. She isn't exactly powerless. But you're right, she might not be the one who raises Jon, I just assumed this because it seems most convenient. His survival might have something to do with him being a warg.

Re: New Game of Thrones episode (SPOILERS)
I'm sorry but I think you misunderstand my original statement. I was not saying that she does not have diverse powers offered to her through the Red God. My point being, is that you must now call into question the source of those powers and if there might in fact be motivations beyond her controlThids wrote:erm Melisandre might have been wrong in her visions and her presumption that Stannis is Azor Ahai but don't forget about the shadow she gave birth to which killed Renley. Ah, that's true. But Melisandre might just be misinterpreting her own visions, even Stannis says "I don't know what I saw." when she tells him he saw the visions himself.

Re: New Game of Thrones episode (SPOILERS)
A valid point, yes. No matter what, while I hate the character, I love Melisandre's development. One of the most intriguing aspects of the show left, who is the Red God really and what is his relationship to his Priests? It was the White Walkers but after "Hardehome" there seems to be only one thing you need to know and that is you better run, who cares who they are, seriously!Thids wrote:Ah, that's true. Re: New Game of Thrones episode (SPOILERS)
I still find the ruins of Valyria, The Faceless God and his followers and the story that happened before the actual story (Robert's rebellion, there is a bunch of things about the rebellion that are not explained) intriguing.
At one point I actually thought that the show was getting better than the books, but right now it's falling short of them big time. They are cutting out way too many things. For an example in the books there is a bunch of political intrigue in the north after the Boltons take Winterfell. Houses conspiring against them, allying with Stannis etc. In the show there are no northern houses, they are mentioned briefly and that's it. Bolton's army seems mighty and impossible to defeat, and their hold on the north seems stronger than ever. There is no Lord Manderley, no Stark supporters, no nothing. Just the Boltons and Stannis who marched against them. Then all the stuff they cut out in Dorne etc. I understand the limitations of a tv show budget, but they are cutting out too much stuff.
To top it all they cut out some of Martin's best written speeches like these:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G_3z7H-x2zM
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0sjZHxEZnmE
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C7kW7cT1uGA
What annoys me is that they regularly spend the first 5-6 episodes of every season dragging out boring drama, then they pack the last few episodes with a bunch of things. They also started aiming for shock value too much. I'm expecting that the next season spends the first 7 episodes showing Tyrion and Varys doing absolutely nothing interesting at all while they try to run Mereen.

Re: New Game of Thrones episode (SPOILERS)
Even if Melisandre should have the power she has no reason to rezz Jon exept the fact that shes the only woman in the castle. Her magic needs a sacrifice, so I believe she must sacrifice herself to rezz Jon.
Hes a warg? Never seen a hint in the show.I just assumed this because it seems most convenient. His survival might have something to do with him being a warg.
the many faced god alternate name?Arya, yes. (but blind and now basically in bondage to the god of Death *Whitewalker God?*)
They make alot of money with this show. I dont think money plays a role there. Then all the stuff they cut out in Dorne etc. I understand the limitations of a tv show budget, but they are cutting out too much stuff.

Re: New Game of Thrones episode (SPOILERS)
Ok, here is my "theory" on the many faced God:
You see within the Temple, statues of deities from different pantheons of faiths, such as the Stranger and The Drowned God. As alluded in the last episode, what if these are mere facades, illusions, or aspects of the same being, just interpreted differently. That Diety being Death itself.
I have an even more intrinsically eastern philosophical basis for the relationship of the Red God and this "Faceless" God that I won't get into here but will look forward to seeing if it comes to fruition

Do you remember how Thoros of Myr raised Berric from the dead?Nachti wrote:Even if Melisandre should have the power she has no reason to rezz Jon exept the fact that shes the only woman in the castle. Her magic needs a sacrifice, so I believe she must sacrifice herself to rezz Jon.
Hidden: show
In the books he is a warg, and there are some theories that Jon the character might spend the next season as Ghost.Nachti wrote:Hes a warg? Never seen a hint in the show.

Re: New Game of Thrones episode (SPOILERS)
Jaqen h'ghar once said the "a girl owes one more name, the red god demands it", while posing as a Lannister guard. Mellisandre say the "red god" as well. Perhaps your theory is right Maverick 40
