The Whistler wrote:Is this thread dead ? Why does it not have any more traction ? The custom appearance changer is beyond primitive and it has a tendency to swallow items. The submit-your-own system is also extremely time intensive and the IG reality rarely matches the expectations (toolset lighting, colors are off most of the time).
The ToA mock-up system had no reported cases of malfunctioning that I know of. I'm certain the devs would be willing to share it if somebody asked them kindly enough.
Maecius wrote:I know it's on the radar. Our current appearance changer is "full" -- as in, we can't add new appearances to it without removing existing ones now -- so we probably will need to grow into a new system.
But it hasn't been discussed whether we'll go with Charlie's or another system or what just yet.
The name of app changer is XP craft, and I remember talking about it via PMs with someone in the past (I think with luna).
This thing was relatively safe, but increased server's memory consumption (by a configurable amount, which could be reduced to something like 10 megabytes).
I also remember checking it for memory leaks and not finding any.
The appearance changer is used on sigil and, honestly, should've been plugged here years ago. I everybody forgot that it existed.
Bumping to see if this suggestion can get some traction. With the 2016 massive update settling into place, any chance we can get this feature implemented soon? It's such an awesome feature that it's hard to believe this awesome server hasn't included it for all these past years. Dev team, what do you think?
what options will there be? will it work the same as on sigil? say, you have, mithral full plate. can you choose any heavy or medium "main/chest" armor type? as in, pick scalemail armor main type 2? then go through every option available on each other body part one at a time? every option including 0?
Maecius wrote:As I understand it, Endelyon's got it working and configured for our server already. At this point we just need to put down the NPCs.
I'm guessing we'll be looking for an August release, barring any complications -- once Duster's caught up and back in the saddle.
We'll be keeping the old "use it anywhere" appearance changer as well. Again barring any unforeseen complications. Because why not both?
OMG! I'm sooo Excited!!

Just to clarify, it's not server-side but is in a copy of the module to be included with future update.

Just want to express a BIG OLE THANK YOU to the developer team for at last implementing this item customization feature. I've already burned many hours fine tuning armor parts and colors. The server just got that much better than it already was.
I have recommended that the New XP Craft appearance changer include the option for changing the Default Belt, Default Hands and Default feet on armors. This if implemented will fix the problems with the Belts on certain armors.

This would be great!!! I have been wanting to be able to add belts and accessories to the changers. There are some belts that are perfect for priestly robes and other things.
