Well the books closest to my bed at the moment are Skin Disease: Diagnosis and Treatment and Clinical Ethics 7th Ed.

But since no one wants to hear about those books (I imagine) let's go with Phantoms in the Brain, which is still a medical book, but not a dense sciencey textbook.

Still waiting for Gigamesh to publish in Spanish the second book with the last books. Since more than a year ago.

i've just begun to read the Harry Dresden series got them about a year ago and just finally got to them i have to say i'm really liking the flow of the book

The last thing I read was Tank Versus Tank: The Illustrated Story of Armored Battlefield Conflict in the Twentieth Century. It was interesting however the author insists tanks are viable without air parody which is an antiquated notion. Granted the book is a couple decades old.

On my nightstand I have a copy of the Constitution of the USSR with an "Army specialized training" stamp on it. I believe it was from a military school in the 1950's - 1980's. Next week I am going to get some forgotten realms books if can and maybe order Ten Years and Twenty Days off of Amazon. . . I miss living in Detroit, there is a massive bookstore there. A multilevel converted warehouse actually. Anyways any suggestions on FR books that take place around BG? (no drow crap please)

Not part of my curriculum but an addition to it. So far it has not disappointed me.



Also tempted to do another re-read of the old Drizzt books, been a while since i read the first trilogy, and i the newest ones i have not even looked at = /

A Long Time Until Now (Was OK, but not amazing.)
On Writing - Stephen King (I've read it several times before, still amazing)
Steelheart (Second time reading... I like it.)
Harry Potter 1-3 (I've read these before)
Dark Intelligence (Sucked so bad that I returned it after the first two chapters)
Dreamer's Pool (Predictable, but Charming)

I am reading "The Painted Man" from Peter V. Brett. In US it is called the "The Warded Man", in Germany "Das Lied der Dunkelheit" (The Song of Darkness). It is the first book of "The Demon Cycle".
The charackters are quiet nice. Each one is introduced in his own story. I really can't wait until all meet.

I have the second book in the series on my list to read too. I forgot to include it.

Yes, I'd recommend it too. Good book.

After reading about 8 of these, I realized that I didn't much care for his prose, but absolutely loved his ancillary characters and the behind the scenes history he came up with concerning magic and fairy society and wizards/vampires/demons etc. I actually only read them for that reason now.

When I finally got tired of arguing with her and decided to write a novel as if I was some kind of formulaic, genre writing drone, just to prove to her how awful it would be, I wrote the first book of the Dresden Files.

Doesn't seem to bode too well on the prose front... It's no doubt how he manages over a book a year.

Recently Completed:

Just finished Doctor Sleep. It got a lot better around the 1/3 to half way mark.

Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire (This is like the 8th time I've read it, I love the whole series.)

Up Next:

Started The Desert Spear, but put it down after a few chapters. I may come back to it, but Brent Weeks isn't doing a very good job of creating characters the reader can empathize with (and thus keep me interested in the story). The whole book so far seems to be selling the reader on a world that, quite frankly, is kinda depressing from the early pages - slaughter, rape, murder... There's not a lot of positive energy.

I dunno what I'll read next. No doubt I'll have started something by tomorrow morning.

I'm thinking about maybe starting The Dark Tower series. It's been 6-7 years since I've read it. Then again I also love Brandon Sanderson and he has a few new titles available.

Innocent Mage by Joan Miller. Pretty slow paced, but quite OK. After this I'm prolly going to re-read Half-Orcs by David Dalglish.. That series was so dark and good that I have to get into it again after five years.

Also got Dark Space's sequel going on in my Kindle list for when travelling. Some sci-fi goodness.
