You talk as if human players always RP their background, chambordini
Aasimars, like tiefers, have different qualities and different heritage and certainly you don't know your outsider ancestor personaly or even what it was. Dunno what kind of angelic RP you expect.

I have been asked. I usually reply.
And tbh drow aren't in the same category of players because they're very lore heavy and UD-only which means a lot of people that want to see trees when they log in will not pick drow.
They're the best race to pick for building. I'm not sure about seeing trees and what players want. However, this was about Humans and Aasimars, and the bottom line is: Humans aren't worse at all, overall (across all builds).
If you want to play one of these characters on the surface which 'is a no-brainer to be on the surface for most people', then going for aasimar is not a pbing-unfriendly choice at all.
Agreed. Nor is Human

.
Let me know if there are actually people RPing about their aasimar character's angelical heritage like some people RP tieflings with their fiendish heritage, and not just RPing humans with a different race on their sheet...
Funny you say that...some people try to RP being of angelic and fiendish heritage, and they get the hate ("wannabe snowflakes"). Now, those who tried to dismiss themselves as more or less humans thought they got away, but guess what

...?!
I see your points, Chambordini. But many people are influenced by their perception of the community's opinion. We should keep that in mind too.

When did this happen? Am I missing something here? Are dwarves somehow less able to pick SD than other +0 dex races? Human or Half elf, for instance?
And you can still pick both ranger (and cavestalker!) and assassin.

Don't they get enlarge person and invisibility, both with pretty substantial durations? I'd say those are some
very useful SLAs

Second one is me, friend
But really, humans are took mostly only because of power building. It is not hard to distinguish power build and some human-role player. Sadly, the second ones are rare.
Most humans here have not even touched their bios. I mean, they even leave that thing about "closed book" not changed for months. Also most of them dress in "classic" style: anything+cloak+masked hood = 90% humans. Add Tumble+Spellcraft+UMD here. Everyone takes that, regardless of concept, adding Spot/Listen sometimes on high WIS characters to bug it further.
I am not talking about
EVERY human on server, but just look around, and you will notice the same

I am not at all. In fact this means that there are two players I did not know about playing Dwarves as their mains. In my experience with KH I know the dwarf race tends to be less mainstream. I think it's a combination of no offensive attribute boosts and the stereotyping in pop culture (dumb, fat, and smelly with a Scottish accent all go against the lore but are common traits on PC Dwarves).

I'm not sure that this poll is necessarily indicitave of what races are currently being played. I see plenty of all races running around except perhaps half-orcs, grey-orcs, and the obvious non-drow races in the UD(deep gnomes and imaskari are practically non existant).
I currently dont play any of my characters enough to justify calling them a main(my elf is on hiatus), but I'm trying concepts for each of the races(except orcs and aasimar, eww). I even have a dwarf... but, and sorry AlwaysSummerday, he's smelly

Although, he's a battlerager, so I figure he should be. I'll try and steer clear of the Scottish accent should he become a mainstay
