and when i make side by side's of barb20/AK10 and Barb20/DC10, i still think the AK build is better. if you have MFP, then i could see the DC build being slightly better, but now you are placing the onus on a piece of gear that costs half a mil.
You do not have to buy one... Just find one, and since the other mithral armors were buffed, you can make do with a lesser option until you get yours.

Just find a mithral full plate? Since September 2014 I have still never found a MFP, so not sure it's good to tell folks you can just find one. That said, Mithral Halfplate is only 1 AC worse (8/2 instead of 8/3) and requires less of a focus on dexterity, allowing more points of STR/CON.

Edit: Also, you can generally get Mithral Halfplate for anywhere between 20-50K, making it cost about 10% of what you will pay for MFP.

please dont tell me you have looted 3 or 4. I've opened alot of chests and, like chad, never had one of them in there.

I like 30 Barbarian build, Earth Genasi. Ending with 22 STR and 21 CON in addition to 14 starting Intelligence which opens up Improved Knockdown and lots of RP skill points (Able Learner as well, because you will want Tumble, Heal, Spellcraft and UMD).

No need for Extended Rages/Extra Rage since you can get 22 minutes of Rage duration with Primal Fury amulet.

24 CON with Steadfast Determination takes care of Will saves, Whirling Frenzy helps with Reflex.

DR of -/17 and HP of 600. No headaches in how to incorporate AK from a RP point.

Actually... Before my self imposed character vault wipes... I had a quite a few of them... Used to throw them into campfires because selling them was a real hassle - and I did build my characters to make use of a regular full-plate rather than a mithral one. Heck, used to even sell them to the low level NPC vendors right after a server reset...

Now, what you need to do is head north to Soubar, and travel north to the swamp with the Elven vampires, and there is a corpse in the north-eastern corner... If you are the first player to go for it, it seems to drop many armors, and hence increase your probability of acquiring a Mithral Fullplate. Not to mention how the area has some chests, and a boss fight inside the Ziggurat as well, and some of the Elven vampires have dropped mithral armor for me as well.

The reason why people do not like to go there is the 10/- and 20/- damage reduction the Elven Vampires posses - plus some will based spells some of the vampires like to throw at the start of the fight.

And you do not need to go there specifically, you just need to find a corpse or crate in some area that is not frequented often - and that will increase your chances of getting mithral armor.

LOL... I once went in that Ziggurat thing, not knowing what was in there and got blasted by 3 IGMS spells at once... Appeared in the fugue and had to look at the combat log to figure out what happened. Apparently multiple prince's can spawn which is bad news if you are solo! :P

The secret to survival is to drink a lot of jugs of fresh water! Those critters will spend time trying to dispell the lesser vigor spell on you... I think farmer Thom in the Eastern Farmlands sells them.
