I am totally fine with self-nomination. As far as my RP goes if you want to have your character be 'well known' then feel free to list them. Don't go overboard or metagame NPCs, of course. The way I see it, our character can only be in the realm when we are in game, but if you want to RP that they are in and about libraries and magic circles, and known in the wizard community, that's cool with me.

I would also say Ithilwen.

Give me a little more detail and I will have them added. Where are they known?

I will add him. Would you like him listed as regionally known, or known in a specific area? What would he be known for doing/having done?

Some suggestions:
Elven reknown - Kael/Kor'vain of En Dharasha Everae (Might be better in the mages of the past category though)
Soubar - Shekels the Necromancer

Anyone know of any mentions in sourcebooks about just how well known the big name wizards are?
So I was thinking along similar lines as well.
I play an active mage Zirvoden for the past 3 years. He works in near total secrecy and is known by a group of 4 other active players, and referred to as "Master Z" or "The Gray One" by a few others in the next degree of separation. OOC info-- He's founded a secretive group/cult known as the Order of the Dragon-Blooded, a small but active fellowship of spontaneous casters dedicated to a certain ethos, which I shall not elaborate here. Previously, he was publicly known as Ming (more would recall this incarnation of Zirvoden) and associated with Sabel the Red Sorceress for a time.
I would shamelessly think he is certainly "of note" enough but because Zirvoden emphasizes secrecy and everything he does is RPed in game, without a single shred of forum RP, he's probably not of note by the criteria set out in this thread, such as regional fame/notoriety etc. (And that my friends and I play in a time zone where there are just mostly 20+ players on does not help increase the visibility even if we desire such visibility in the first place.)

Most evil, of any kind, is rarely 'known' until they are known for something evil. If you plot in secret then you probably don't belong on a list of known mages. That doesnt mean your mage isn't powerful, noteworthy, or anything negative.. it means that they aren't well known.
Those evil listed here (with the exception of the UD) are known because they lead things, have done things (in the case of Sabel), or otherwise made their presence known.
Selengil, Kahanak, Selah, Sabel.. I would certainly wager that if any of those four were trying to shield a secret plot or run a cabal/cult.. they wouldnt be well known either.

Exactly. Hence, my dissonance with mages "of note" and "noteworthy". Looks like this is a list of mages of renown instead.

Gonna have to disagree there.
For one, that tower waa built specifically for Elias Goodmane, commissioned with the Wyndsoul elves. The basement is/was used as a guild meeting ground.
It makes no sense to claim you live or were raised there when you couldn't have been and don't have keys to the place.
