The scene with Nymeria harkens back to season 1 when her father tells her about how she will eventually need to wear dresses and be courted by some lord. She advises him "that's not me" and walks away from him. In the scene with Nymeria she wants her at first to come back with her, but as she walks away Arya whispers "that's not you" because she knows Nymeria is wild and wants to live in the wilds.

Separately, her original destination was to go after Cersei, but once Hot Pie advises her that her brother Jon is alive she makes the decision to head to Winterfell, as evidenced by the group in front of her discussing heading toward Kings Landing, while she turns and heads the opposite direction on the trail.

The part about 'thats not me' and 'thats not you' I got from the post show summary and interviews they have at the end of each episode, I didn't actually remember that far back. The second part about going to Winterfell I am guessing simply based on the group that was outside of the inn heading one direction and discussing Kings Landing while she turns her horse heading the other direction on the road.

FFS Lyrewyn and I couldn't figured out what the hell she meant by "it's not you" for the life of us. This makes total sense.

:D It's interesting watching the show as I've read all the books 3 times over the years while my wife has not. We also watch with friends, all but one of which have not read the books. The one is on book 4 and she often still doesn't understand what is going on. I find it amusing because they fail to connect the dots that Dondarrion has been raised many times in the same manner that Jon was brought back once. Part of it is the failure of the shows to capture the level of detail found in the books. Case in point Dondarrion is described as being sallow, looking as much dead as alive, yet in the show he comes off as mostly hale with an eye patch. He also describes in the books at one point how every time he comes back, less of himself returns, going deeper in to the idea of a 'cost' for returning. Interestingly older editions of D&D included a cost for being raised from the dead (con loss) which was removed in 3rd edition. While perhaps a difficult game mechanic it's quite similar to what is described, though not exactly the same as what Dondarrion describes.

I was at first a bit annoyed that the show never actually introduced Caetlyn Stark after she was raised by Thoros of Myr, but considering she was introduced in the books all of once and then brought up in discussion as a rumor maybe one other time I wonder if Martin even had plans of including her back in the plot.

In any case, there are so many concurrent stories going on it's impossible to catch every important statement a character makes as Martin includes quite a few 'one off' conversations that perhaps give insight in to a characters motivations, but have no future impact on the plot. One can only retain so many fantasy book/show conversations over the course of years! :geek:

I'll admit that I went to the Internet afterwards to figure out the deal with Arya and Nymeria, but it makes sense now that it's been explained!

The transition from Jorah's greyscale to the pie was nicely, grossly done.

All in all, I felt the episode was a bit too choppy. They're having to cram so much into each episode that some of the transitions seem rough and the pacing seems too swift.

I'm very excited to see Jon and Dany meet in the next episode!!

I was happy to see the Nymeria pack in the show. It had a much more prominent part in the books. Also, got to love that boarding ramp / figurehead that drops down to squish unsuspecting sailors!

I for sure thought Arya would be riding her wolf... That would have been pretty cool.

IMO Sansa Stark's strategy when she and John are talking in front of the lords of the north is terrible.

One of the great things about the early Lannisters is they had a public united front. Sansa undermines John Snow in front of the lords by disagreeing with him very vocally twice in front of the lords.

Why couldn't she have that conversation in private?

In Dutch, we have a saying: "Daar is geen woord Spaans bij"
Which roughly translates to: "That doesn't contain a word of Spanish"
Which in turn means: "There are no uncertain terms in that sentence." or "You can't get in a word edgeways"

I took the time to look up a way to translate that, just because it felt fitting :-P

If Euron Greyjoy doesn't appear suddenly to squash some more ships :). The ship battle was well done.

I'm more concerned with the mischief Arya will do once she appears in the north and sees what a mess there is. A loose assassin might do a lot of things.

Give your uncle a kiss

I really liked how Theon bolted when confronted with the ironborn brutalities, players (myself included) could really take notes on how to deal with similar situations on BG.

Yes! You sir stole my words. It was an unwinnable situation...
By fleeing he will likely prevent some further catastrophe by living to inform Daenerys of exactly what happened to her fleet, or something similar.

One more thing: Euron is a freaken beast! I cheered so hard when he was kicking a/ss.
