Luck of Heroes, Power Attack, Extend Spell, Divine Might, Divine Shield, Improved Power Attack, Great STR/CHA till you got 21 str/cha, EDM.
Str bard is just Luck of Heroes, Power Attack, Extend Spell, Curse Song, Lingering Song, Improved Power Attack + whatever else you feel like (Song & Hymn of Requiem in epics). Str all the way.

I never paid much attention to loot back in the day for a variety of reasons, but recently I've turned my attention more towards it and have been contemplating a loot runner myself.
I'm leaning strongly towards a STR based monk with a rogue splash for chests. No buffing. Don't care about bosses, really. Any builds come to mind right off the bat? Monk 26/rogue 4? Do I need stealth? HIPS?
Also, I think it's worth noting that we've created a system where we contemplate such abominations to begin with. I don't have a solution (well, actually I do, but only a few people would like it), just pointing out that it's sort of gross and I feel dirty doing it.

Just because you originally create a character to loot grind, doesn't mean you can't create some fun RP around the character too. Don't forget that. You never know what your character will get roped into.
At the very least, treasure hunter/traditional adventurer RP IS legit. And that is, essentially, what this OP wants. Traditional adventurers -do- grind dungeons for loot, then sell them at merchants to make a profit/collect cool items.

Reduce the price of epic equipment by an order of 10 and then remove everyone's gold.
Or better, add enchanting so we can make the items
we want to have instead of being pigeonholed into the current system.
It's an unfortunate byproduct of our 'economy' that determines the value of certain favourable item properties above others, especially combinations thereof (eg, compare the value of a ring with +3 STR to a ring with +3 STR, +3 DEX). If demand exceeds supply, prices go up. If the only supply is random gen loot then those prices suddenly become astronomical, usually ending in 'like-for-like' trading as so many Auction House threads evidence.

This would give a reason for all those feats and spells.

metaquad4 wrote:Chest runs give you the best most loot. A boss is more of a single chest that takes an immense amount of effort to do (and has a couple other chests beside it).
Fixed that. A boss is like a single chest with
higher potential for high-end loot than any chest. But it's also a numbers game, and there are WAY more chests than there are bosses.

Higher potential for spoons maybe! Seriously. . .I rarely ever find anything good in those boss chests (and I find the most spoons/unenchanted loot/steins on bosses). If it meant to be worthwhile, those loot scripts need some tweaking. That, or some hard evidence needs to be provided if that is indeed the wrong assessment. Neither myself nore the friends I usually loot grind with are seeing it.
Imo, bosses should have a guaranteed chance for a +3 item or higher. At the very least, to make the trouble killing them is something that is worthwhile (Yeah, some of us have trouble killing them and go at it in groups

).
(Also, spoons/other useless utensils should really be cut from the loot table! D: Seriously. . .why is that balor carrying a frigging spoon! He is CE! Savage! Not. . .spoon worthy!)
I think the 5k from a few bosses is the best loot from the boss. That usually gets split up in groups though.

Mooshed adventurers are best eaten with a spoon. I tend to agree though, that the boss loot quality could use a little nudge.

I'm not even there yet, but I say yay! I third this recommendation of tweaking the loot system! For one day I hopefully will be looting epic bosses, and on that day I would like the aforementioned looting to be worthwhile!

Are you saying the UD:s not so secret closet drunkard Pitfiend should sober up?
6 empty spirit bottles in a row is my current record, not a winning streak really.
I strongly believe long term a speedster sneak would outscore the brawnier suggestions in this thread.
Sure you cant take all the chests, but you can loot a lot of chests all over the place while the brawn builds are busy hacking up mobs.
Do we need a new statistical parameter for proper evaluation?
Chests per minute = CPM?

This attack on spoons gotta stop, some of them are really good!
Maecius wrote:Some amazing builds just make no sense from an RP perspective, and the DMs will call you on them.
Does that happen with any frequency?
On topic I would also pick a monk, simply for the super speed. But also don't underestimate the benefit of establishing IC relationships. The more people that know you, the greater the chance that someone will find something and be willing to trade or gift it to you cheaply.

Technically, if you just want to reach the chests ASAP, the build you want would be a Bard 27/Rogue 3, and it would be a strength based sneak. Inspire competence with 27 bard gives you +8 to all skills, add +4 from Greater Heroism, and the stock +2 sneak equipment you can purchase at 10k~ a piece and you can practically sneak where-ever you want even with """"horrendeously low"""" base dexterity of 14 or 16. You can even haste yourself for more speed.
Other choice would be something like a Monk 11/Shadowdancer 3/Rogue 16, a build that has gone for 40% Self-Concealment. (The dexterity requirement was lowered to 27 from 30, according to Valefort, and not listed anywhere on the forums...)

Along with every single minute update and fix. You have to open several spoiler tags, and actually hope there is no typo on the change so that you can find it. :/

I tried FS23/Paladin4/Monk3 and got dispelled quite easily by the standard lich spawns in Vault of the Dead, who use Greater Spell Breach.
Is that just something that gishes now have to suck up, or am I doing something wrong?
