Else, allow larger stacks (with scaling weight).
Having 1-2 pages of inventory for ammo is limiting ranged characters as it is.


Throwing daggers anyone?
We got axes, shuriken and darts.
Not one throwing dagger (discounting prestige class caster feats), I dare say being able to toss a dagger is not restricted to the arcane.

Totally agree with this. On my Archer, I haven't once ran out of arrows because I just restock insane amounts of quantities. It's not as though it's a money-sink, it's hardly any gold. It would be smart if we had merchant sold returning ammo of all kinds, that doesn't have any EB bonuses. Keep ammo with damage/EB bonuses as non-returning only. It'll more likely have people spend more money, since they won't have pages of arrows, and they'll see some unique magic arrows that they want.

This suggestion isn't really about balance or the lore. It's about making the gameplay fun. You never see an Archer run out of ammo now, and if this was implemented, you'd never see it in the future. What would change? Spending 60 gold to restack a whole inventory page that doesn't merit and RP or fun- it's just micromanaging.

Did I just hear correctly that there are now 'quivers' with an unlimited amount of arrows?

Does that mean I finally can stop stacking entire pages of my backpack with nothing but arrows?

There are bows that have unlimited ammo and hence you can only fire the arrows the bow comes with. You cannot equip fire arrows against trolls, for example, you need another bow. Which is why my ranger is without Weapon Focus, and has... a Longbow, Shortbow, and a Sling.

I think the 'unlimited' referred to 'quivers', not 'ammo'. I.e. there are unlimited quivers for sales, of 99 arrows each... I've seen bows with unlimited ammo, but no unlimited quivers anywhere.

My archer did fine with carrying 1 Unlimited Ammo bow (from Thunderhammer) and 1 non-unlimited ammo bow to use special arrows with. Generally stuck with the unlimited ammo bow for regular enemies, switched to the other to use special arrows against trolls and the like. I kept one page of arrows and had 3 left for loot.

Depends on the arrows found on those quivers, or what comes with bows with the unlimited Arrows. A bow with unlimited arrows could be far superior compared to the combination of another bow with an unlimited arrow quiver, just as it could be the other way around as well.

But as an archer, what I've hated the most is the arrow management. For example, I've bought some cheap stacks of arrows and tried to keep the magical loot arrows saved for later use... The word 'tried' because if the buffer of cheap stock arrows ever runs out, then the more expensive arrows get automatically equipped.

Hence, if the unlimited quivers of arrows, bolts, or bullets just provide regular ammunition, I do not think there is much of an issue. Those would just make things more convenient for the archers... And old ranged weapons with their stock ammunition would remain as useful as before.


But returning throwing weapons... That would be a god sent.
