Do you still think transmutation would be bad to give up as Red Wizard or?Deathgrowl wrote:I stand corrected!

No, in that case, you keep all the important spells (provided you learn them prior to going red wizard). I can't think of any spells of level 4 or higher that would be vital. Flesh to Stone and Disintegrate are fun, but there are other, more reliable spells to put at level 6...
And while the shapechange and polymorph spells have been improved a bit, it wouldn't be the playstyle of this kind of character.
Oddly enough Greater Stoneskin is transmutation, while normal Stoneskin is abjuration. So until you get Premonition or Shades, you'd be stuck with normal Stoneskin for damage resistance buff. But that should be fine.

My thoughts are very similar to this - the only thing I really can't decide on is which should be the second spell focus choice - if one should be chosen. Because with Abjuration not really benefitting from high DC-based caster, then there is only really Illusion, Evocation and Enchantment left, because as far as I'm aware Conjuration doesn't really have that DC-based spells where it benefits from the casters high dc.Deathgrowl wrote:No, in that case, you keep all the important spells (provided you learn them prior to going red wizard). You can learn new spells in your restricted school actually, some limits of the system. Why ? Because even if it's possible to prevent learning new spells from a scroll it's not possible to prevent a player from picking those on level up.

Thats good to know, although I'd consider that an exploit since its not something you've intended it to be on the server. Maybe not an exploit game wise, but server-wise I would definitely say it is.Valefort wrote:You can learn new spells in your restricted school actually, some limits of the system. Why ? So can a specialist or a double specialist cast spells of their 'forbidden' school or not?

Non-Red Wizard: No. You can add them to your spell book but you will never be able to cast them.
Red-Wizard: Partial. They may not cast spells of their 1st prohibited spell school (chosen at level 1). They may cast spells of the 2nd prohibited spell school up to 3rd level spells only. This is a mechanical enforcement of the rule that RW characters must take the class as early as possible (ie, level 6 or 3rd level spells) on BGTSCC.
